Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I have tried to read this thread but can't find what I'm looking for. I have bought the TSDZ2 VLCD5 36V 250W with y connector for lights at 6V. I haven't received it yet so I can't test or look at the controller myself. My question is, does anyone know the max load for this output? In previous post...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

There are two versions, 8 pin, and 6 pin... If you have the 6 pin VLDC-5, you can switch with the XH-18, which is also 6 pin. The 8 pin model has the throttle and brakes, which should be VLDC-5 only. Some companies make an 8 pin XH-18 with throttle, but it is not recommend. Also, the xh-18 is overa...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Is there an official U.S. Distributor for these drives?? I want to get one. They are manufactured in china so I'd just buy from a chinese distributer. I went with PSWpower on aliexpress and had no issues. Also their battery packs are as advertised. I paid extra for panasonic cells, and when I crack...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Blue Gear Change

I don't think it is a Press Fit onto the gear shaft. I tried by hand, prying with a screwdriver & gently with a pair of pliers plus there is a pin at either end. One on the gear side & one on the bearing side. 2 weeks & 2 attempts = no response from Tongsheng either. I was really hoping this would ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Any idea on the best way to extricate the Blue Gear from the shaft for replacement? Do I go from the gear end or the bearing end? Not sure if I need a gear puller or knock out the pin in the gear. Thanks if you can help. just pull them apart. It's press fit. My shaft fits looser on the bearing that...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Taken in context, my remark alluded to the fact that a metal gear will not survive without lubrication. Those thinking of replacing the gear need to think quite carefully about this. There's not an oil sump on these motors, any of them, so the grease can go anywhere except where its wanted. That's ...

TSDZ2 Assembly Great document. Thanks. this answers some of the questions about how to grease these things. Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I've got a theory wrt the blue gear. Do you stand on the pedals when you ride, and when you brake? If you braked hard, but was standing on the pedals, Applying torque to the pedals, while the bike was still in motion, you might kick the motor in right before locking up the drive train - putting some...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The chainring is 60 teeth and can be found on Amazon. Works well for my drive train but may be overkill for larger wheeled bikes. Ya it kinda dominates the scale of everything else. The thing is huge.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

To get the motor out you need to give it a little rattle. I didn't need to use a hammer though for any of this. When the gears mesh and the motor torques the whole assembly tightens up and you need to rotate it a bit when you pull it out to loosen everything up again.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

So the TSDZ3 looks like it doesn't hang down and would be much better for a trail bike. I don't find any threads on that motor. Anyone ever try this? They don't sell the special bracket? . http://www.pswpower.com/peng/iview.asp?KeyID=dtpic-2015-CP-2H3X.3SVEX . . This is for a custom frame for mass ...

Re: TSDZ observations

Not to add any negatives, but after getting the sample running I've come to several conclusions. 1. Not a motor I can sell. 2. I like the build quality. I think in many ways superior to Bafang in simplicity. With some work it could be a serous contender. 3. A 18 MPH mid drive won't be very popular ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

What are the 18A controllers putting out for top speed? 15A? Top speed is going to depend on your drivetrain, gear ratios, rolling resistance, tire size, weight, and muscles..... I can get the 350W unit up to 40kph if I pedal hard. I run a 20inch wheel folding bike with a shinamo nexus 7 rear hub, ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Squee, when was yours made? Mine is from the first week of June this year and is absolutely silent! Also, which model? Mine is a 48v, 500w, 15A, and there was a shortage of them at the time. I STRONGLY suspect all lower voltage (pre-48v) units were made previously and they have a lot of existing st...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Any power converter will cut into your battery consumption by adding a level of inefficiency so your battery will die about 10% faster, but yes it's a simple fix to keep your power output at peak value. 10% is is a no go. I would run out of battery with a converter before I would start feeling perf...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thanks for the feedback RT111. Once I get the unit back I'll post my findings & if it is the Blue Gear that has failed I think I will just switch it to the Brass Gear for reliability. I think it would be short sighted of the company to produce a gear that would fail so prematurely especially since ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

So, in other words, you say that the constant voltage will only give you a consistent peak wattage, and that the (non constant voltage) motor will still take similar wattage under similar non-stressing situations at different voltages? Has anyone posted a video or could post a video of the sound emanating from a newish TSDZ2 motor - I'm looking at other options as I'm after a near silent e-assist to fit into my velomobile where sound is amplified, thus the quieter the better. Although it's not that loud, my TSDZ2 does whirr when ...

anyone have any specs on the current output of that light cct? I assume it would need to go to a solid state relay, and isn't rated for any serious current draw.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

It sounds like it has been stated that it comes with an 8spd chain ring, finally.. If you don't want to go the route of spider and 9-11 spd chainring assembly,, you could 'thin' the stock chain ring just at the chain contact area, on a lathe with a high speed sanding disc, and a little hand deburri...
