Re: Seeking advice on e-bike selection

With your budget, I'd spring for the BBSHD, you won't regret it. You seem smart and capable enough to build the bike yourself, and more importantly maintain it - you'll save a ton of money here. Save $200 for new brakes. My new brakes saved me from hitting two deer that crossed in front of me in the...

Re: DPC-18 Upgrade

Just learned from another thread, that setting the DPC-14 to not automatically shut off will allow proper time for the internal battery to charge and will then properly maintain time.

It sounds legit to me, so I'm going to give it a go tonight!

Re: DPC-18 Upgrade

Once locked with a code can that lock be removed with a different screen Giving the bike a new owner or is it possible that its only tamper proof I think the lock is only on the display and not the controller. I'm curious to know if there's a way to alter the odometer so it'll reflect the miles I r...

Re: DPC-18 Upgrade

I just bought a BBS02 kit and opted to upgrade to the DPC18. It's good in my limited use so far. Easily legible in the daytime and evening, and nice size of display. Unfortunately my SoC continues to read 100% on my 48v battery pack after 20 miles of riding so I'm not holding my breath there. Clock...

DPC-18 Upgrade

Anyone planning to upgrade to the DPC-18? It has a couple of nice features over the 14 model, but I'm not sure it's worth $90. Apparently, it's pretty new, so I can't find too many reviews yet. Here are some of the features from the Luna site: Full Color Display Automatic Night Mode (with customizab...

Re: laymans language

I think the answer you're looking for is the assist level is how much the bike "helps" you, and the power level is how much power you're actually using at any given time. For example, you might be riding in assist level 4 where the motor is allowed to use up to 70% of the max power, but when you're ...

Re: Commuter suggestion BBSHD vs MAC

True, but the issue is how long can it do 37mph? Which BBSHD can do 37MPH? Battery? None of the three I had, one left still riding, were that fast. Thanks! Interested to know which version software and battery. 37MPH might be a little optimistic but I didn't want to quibble over a couple MPH. Many ...

DPC-14 Display Losing Time

Hey, does anyone else have trouble with the Bafang DPC-14 color display losing time? I keep it plugged in constantly, even when charging. What's weird is, the date is always right, but the clock goes haywire.

Thanks, all!

Re: Lost BBSHD Crank arm bolt-Alternatives

When my left crank arm fell off, I re-tightened and applied loc-tight, and it came loose again. It never really felt like it went on as far as it should. After closer inspection, I noticed it wasn't tapered correctly. I purchased a new (easy to find) left crank arm at the LBS with a proper taper and...

Re: Commuter suggestion BBSHD vs MAC

Just to clarify my BBSHD will easily do 37mph. I haven't had it faster then that, but I suspect it'll do 40. Nothing against the Mac, just wanted to iterate that the BBSHD can be faster than 28. True, but the issue is how long can it do 37mph? No matter what "type" system you need about 1000W const...

Re: SLC-8116LD Charger from Em3ev

The charger will not shut off, but it will stop charging. There should be LEDs that indicate the current activity, with Red being charging and Green being done. And yes, L/H means Low/High, 90% or 100%. You should be using 90% for 90% of your charging and 100% occasionally to allow the pack to bala...

SLC-8116LD Charger from Em3ev

So, I ordered a 50v large triangle pack from Paul at Em3ev and the 5amp charger with 90/100% switch. It's described as aluminum on the website, but the model I received is plastic. It has one switch on it that reads "L/H." I'm assuming that L is 90% and H is 100%? No documentation was included with ...

Giant Sedona BBSHD Conversion

Got the conversion done no problem! The bike is quick with plenty of power. Rode around 18 miles today before the left crank arm came loose. Was able to tighten it enough to complete the ride. Looks like the cheapo bafang crank arms aren't going to cut it for me. I must have not got the bottom brack...

Re: Giant Sedona BBSHD Conversion

Thanks for the advice! The kit is already on the way, so I'll have to try the 46T chainring for now, but I might try a smaller one in the future. I went with the larger one so that I could "help" pedal as I still hope to get some exercise.

Road Bike or Comfort Bike?

Hey everybody, I'm new to the forums and have a few questions. I've read quite a bit so far, but I'm just not sure what to purchase since I've new to ebikes.
