Be sure to check for even spoke tightness. I've had similar experience....quiet off ground, rattles when weight on wheel. Proper trueing made it always quiet.

First, figure out which of the small wire is the thermistor. Usually it's 10K ohms at room temp between thermistor wire and black. I would suggest that you get a "ebike tester" (~$15). It will tell you if the halls and phase wire output is normal and if the controller has any problems. Tes...

The motor probably needs more phase amps than normal due to the low pole count. What are your phase amp/battery amp settings? Interesting. Can't seem to leave a problem alone. I looked close at the hall mounting. All are mounted with the bevelled edge away from the magnets. That's right side up, I think. Best guess is the halls are not in the usual 120-degree positions, and instead are 60-degree. Yes, both directions..... but not for long enough!! It starts after 2 or 3 cranks in reverse. Thank you, so much.

I'll have figure how to remount the PAS to give the controller the direction it wants. Or is there a better way?
