Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build
Thank you. These bikes are wonderful for people that need to exercise as it is helpful going up hills so we don't have to walk the bikes up. The battery went almost dead (44v) on the way back and then I noticed how difficult the hills really are. I rode it without Cecil and I can feel the power dif...

Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build
I'm digging the step thru bike :) I was looking at a couple myself (much easier to get on and off considering I have to deal with Cecil too) but I decided to go with a full suspension so it can be taken apart into smaller pieces and stuffed into a pair of airline suitcases. The front derailleur is ...

(Yes, I should have posted this in my earlier reply! 8) ...And, I was wrong, it was 179 MPH! :D Thank you for the reply. I like your bikes. :) I need to build a kickstand too! You might want to look for where I added them to my two bikes for some simple lessons learned. The second of the two (the S...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
Hello, we just got our motor last week (tsdz2 750w 48v) and installed it on a Raleigh Kodiak 1 full suspension bike. The installation went well, however we are going to be moving in a couple of months so I decided to temporarily try a small battery as we cannot take the battery with us. I thought I...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
When it displayed 100km/hr exactly, I knew something was wrong with it. It seems to generate a lot of electrical noise if too close to the magnet and the speed counter only goes up as far 100km/hr .... ...I think me and my TSDZ2 hold the world's record for speed; my brand new unit from eye, on its ...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier
Yeah, the high rear weight and length of the trike means rear braking will work even better than the front. No, it doesn't. The weight transfer from the rest of the vehicle to the front as braking begins to happen - no matter what part of the vehicle initiates the braking - is nothing short ...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier
What I REALLY want is instant-start from torque only, meaning it begins providing power as soon as there is torque on the cranks (maybe require a certain minimum so just having my feet on there doesnt' do it), and not require any rotation first. Hmmm... What about solving the "instant start PA...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier
But...I wonder if heating the aluminum rim enough for this is going to weaken the rim enough to leave it even more vulnerable to failure? Also, it already has some cracking visible along the bend, so that will likely propagate even if I could heat it properly and bend it. I have a feeling I'd be be...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier
Those are some bad-ass spokes you got there. A lesser-spoked wheel wouldn't have made it at all! What are they, 4MM in diameter?! Or do they only look larger than "normal" in the photos? Looks like the right sized washer could help save the pulled-out holes. IF you had an oxygen ac...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier
I've read with curiosity the discussion about the brake cables and their sleeves. I'm pretty skeptical about the purported issue, or maybe I don't understand it. Is the issue that you don't want to lose any lever travel in starting the braking effect? You're saying the cables stretch AND the housing...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
I disagree RTIII! :) That's fine, but the only thing I "got wrong" was making my statement a little too general. For example, in the context of the TSDZ2, what this thread is all about, there is no such thing as tearing up drive trains. We're talking 750W, max, that I've ever seen. And, y...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
My first post (I think?): I've been reading about the TSDZ2 for more than a year here, and bought one last summer (48v/500W), to install on my spouse's bike, so she can ride the very hilly terrain around where we live. She loved it, but for other reasons wasn't able to ride it a lot. This winter I ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
Hi Gang, This is my first post in this thread of the new year, I think! I spent most of January with a bad back, but cycling once more and I've got a new problem... But first, I had to catch up in the thread, and along the way I found some great contributions here (!!) - and this is one of the key r...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
RT, but we can add one [a throttle] with a new display and controller? Mine failed, but that was my understanding. Too cold to play bike mechanic so I'm waiting till spring. I am VERY interested in their in frame series... No, depending on what you mean by "controller", I am pretty sure y...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
That rivnut setter is equipped only for SAE sized fasteners, but fortunately that's OK! #10-32 threads are so close to M5x0.8 that you can either put a 5mm fastener right in them or (more likely) open them up to metric size by running an M5 tap cleanly into the #10-32 hole. Good to know, Chalo. Als...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
A throttle can be connected to the TDSZ2. To clarify what Tom said: The TSDZ2 does NOT come standard with the wiring in the harness for the throttle and all indications are that if your TSDZ2 did not come with throttle from new, you cannot add one later unless you're as brave and adventuresome as A...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier
Amberwolf, Sorry, buddy, but in my opinion as an engineer, that's not going to hold. It's almost a 100% certainty that you didn't leave the fastener there loose, but rather the reason it came loose was that the metal plate that bolt tries to tighten wasn't flat against the axle shaft but angled. Tha...

The photos are before the addition of the TDSZ2. Thanks, Itchy, images of a TSDZ2 on such a bike will be a good visual addition to what we know of applications of the TSDZ2. Since you speak of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, I think I'm still the last known person with a sighting. It was during a cano...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
It's probably an "it depends" answer, but I've not been able to find any documentation of what actually happens at each boost level. Seem to recall reading somewhere that someone thought it was 100%, 200%, 300% and 400% added to your input. Itchy, buried in the published materials (which ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"
I have seen that many of you have actual experience with TSDZ2 Tongsheng mid drive. in my adventure to convert my first bike to ebike someone suggested that for my racing bike with dropbars and hydraulic brakes and the 25 miles one way trip i want to do daily this is an ideal motor. Any thoughts of...
