Re: Best Ebike for a Newb with Motocross and DH MTB Experience?!

Go with a BBSHD and you can modify it down the road. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=83778 Mine is currently at around 3500 watts on the OEM controller. Very nice compact package. Or if that's not enough, go for a Tangent. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=...

Re: Potential Catastrophic Frame Failer Averted ….sort of.

I'm always amazed how cheap a high end bike is, considering how trick they are. Cheap?! I wish. I just dropped $4500 on a frame & shock. I spent much less on the car I drive most. Although, compared to an airplane, I guess that would be cheap. How did this thread balloon to 4 pages already?

Re: Potential Catastrophic Frame Failer Averted ….sort of.

She's dead Jim.
This is giving me flashbacks........I've sheared the headtube off of two bikes. One from BADLY casing a jump, and the other snapped out of nowhere more than likely from a similar crack that I failed to inspect for (never again after that).
Ditch the frame and start anew.

Re: BBSHD on Klein Palomino Keeps Breaking Rear Cassette

How good is your chainline? You really only need a few gears, so you could reorder your cassette to get a better chainline. I've been running single speed from the get go and never found power lacking. Though my BBSHD is quite modified. Also, SRAM does not make good chains at all, stick with KMC or ...

Re: Best Cushiony Rear Shock for Ebike

Yeah a coil will always win. Especially on a frame that isn't designed for an air shock, leverage ratio/curve, etc. At least get one with dampening though That one pictured is like Walmart quality. I'd imagine it won't be great at high frequency impacts and the lack of rebound dampening could potent...

Re: Carbon Frame and BBSHD

Any carbon frame with a threaded BB is going to have an aluminum insert, so no problem. A press-fit frame may not, but you'd have to use an adapter anyways.

Re: What is now the best and easy option for full suspension EMTB?

So you see it s a dilemma. I still ask myself how is it possible that we’ve been riding 26 inch wheels for years (even still now in downhill) and now they are bad…Is 2.5 width enough to compensate for 26 vs 27.5? One the reason normal mtb switch to 27.5 and 29 is for better pedaling power but that ...

Re: Best Cushiony Rear Shock for Ebike

What frame/suspension design are we talking here? Really, no matter what shock used, you're going to be out of its designed parameters. A titanium-coiled Ohlins TTX or Cane Creek Double Barrel would be great for compression "cushyness". That would be an expensive option. You could even get a cheap u...

Re: Scott gambler highway speed

An O.G. Gambler! Cool frames. Lots of adjustabilty. Keep an eye on the head tube's upper pinch bolt area. They like to crack there if not properly torqued. Since you're going for high speed you can run the head tube in its slack orientation (63 degrees IIRC). Or better yet, short shock it to drop th...

California ebike in Benicia has the largest selection of parts, great warranty and is a warranty repair station for a couple of resellers, besides themselves. Doug was the developer of the BBS02 100-120mm conversion kit. Yeah, I've bought some spare parts from them. Not bad at all. I wish they sold...

Re: Specific heat absorption capacity of disc brakes

Look into TRP Spykes. Leaps and bounds above the BB7s. You can probably find them for around $50 (per caliper). Then you'll need a lever. Avid Speed Dial 7s are great. Or if you have older V-brake ratio levers on hand, you could run TRP Spyres. I meant canti instead of v-brake there. Looks like you...

Re: need a recommendation for full suspension front fork and rare

I'd look around for an older Fox 40. The first gen ones were incredibly rigid. So much so that they designed more flex into them later on. Flex is good off road for tracking in roots and rock gardens, but for high speed on pavement or hard pack I'd prefer rigidity. That's the downfall of USD (Up Sid...

Another little update here. I'm now successfully running at 71.4v (17s). Same Turnigy 4000mah packs now in 6s, 6s, & 5s flavors. I lowered the max current down to 45A in the config to keep the wattage about the same. I'm loving the fact that this is all still the onboard controller. Hopefully it las...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod

@ Epyon -- A word of advice, although speculative: Maybe it would be a better solution to use LED's instead of resistors for the display mod. I mean if its PSU chip is designed for 60 V max you could burn it. The LED method secures that there always is the Vf drop regardless of power draw from the ...

Re: How To, 50A BBSHD Controller Mod

Good stuff happening here! I made my maiden commute this morning at 71.4v. Had to up the resistor(s) to 200ohms. I lowered the current to ~45A (27 in config) to keep the wattage the same (~3200w) for now. Off the line acceleration feels the same. Top end increased slightly. The pull at the top end i...

Re: Mongoose XR-Pro Build

Your topic is a request for feedback. Chalo is definitely not wrong. Walgooses are not particularly good bikes. It more than likely has a plastic bushing for the main suspension pivots. A BBSHD is gonna torque the rear end. Components (brakes, derailleur, etc.) will all be low end. Also, you mention...

Never seen that daughterboard either. Judging from the markings, a 6v regulator? But for what? Does yours have any extra wiring? Don't some have a lead for a light?
Mind linking to the 100v caps you got?

Broke my first chain today. Only half a mile from home so not too bad. Chain was a KMC E-bike specific. It broke at the quick link as expected. I knew my driveline was gonna be rough on chains due to low tooth count cogs, and being a single speed behind a BBSHD on steroids. Going by the number of ch...

Re: Best donor frame to build an electric bike & getting sta

One must keep in mind that Rim Brakes are grabbing something that is turning slower than grabbing closer to the hub, which is turning much faster. You've got that backwards. The RPMs would obviously be the same, but the surface feet per minute is much higher at the rim. Just to add my 2¢ to the dis...
