Re: Custom Kickbike Build (laser cut and welded frame)

Got everything together. It was a tight fit with all the electronics and large (14S7P) battery, but it worked out. Need to finish some little things, like bleeding the brakes and putting some skateboard tape on the plywood and securing it someway. But was able to take it for a spin. Acceleration is ...

Re: Custom Kickbike Build (laser cut and welded frame)

I'm not into kickbikes but this is one of the cooler designs i've seen. Thanks for sharing with us, and good luck with the build :thumb: Thank you for your kind words. I know the kickbikes are not so popular around here. But I wanted something different and... this is certainly different! Also, whe...

Re: Custom Kickbike Build (laser cut and welded frame)

Looks interesting :thumb: I was inspired by your plates for the hub motor, I would want something simular. But dont you think it would be better to have the clamping bolts as straight behind the cut out as pissible? Maby it does´nt make a lot of difference when tightening nuts on the motor to keep ...

Re: Custom Kickbike Build (laser cut and welded frame)

Finished painting, wel could use another coat or two, but can't wait anymore to start assembly. https://imgur.com/fWLFH3n.jpg The pinch-plates work wonders. They axle is a snug fit on its own. Tightening the clampd own on the axle makes it rock solid. And adding the bolts on the axle makes it even m...

Re: Custom Kickbike Build

Thought about electrolyte coating, powdercoating, .. but will most likely just paint with a decent metal primer and metal paint by hand.

Re: Custom Kickbike Build

The frame is made with some standard 20x50mm square tubing for the bottom rails. Bottom rails are cut at angle to lower the pan. And the end of the rails the 10mm pinch plate is welded. On the bottom of the rails a pan is welded with 2mm steel plate. On top is also a 2mm plate for ridgity and to mou...

Re: Custom Kickbike Build

The design was finished and I made the drawings for the parts to be laser cut from 2mm and 10mm steel plate. Heavy duty pinch mount for the hub motor (10mm) 3 parts per side, use a M10 bold to pinch on the flat axle. https://imgur.com/P2J5ip6.jpg Rest of 2mm plate material to form the rest of the fr...

Re: Custom Kickbike Build

To comply with local law, I would need to kick the bike first before the throttle can be activated. After doing some research and asking on this forum, I think this should be possible using a small arduino micro computer and input from the HALL sensors. Will need to look into this further. Also, I w...

Re: Custom Kickbike Build

The first step is always the design, I went true a few different designs and finally went with this one. I like the setup with a standard 26" mtb front wheel and a smaller 20" rear wheel. I've had some issues with my first build fitting a strong hub motor in a standard classic steel frame. So now I'...

Custom Kickbike Build (laser cut and welded frame)

Hello, I have build three ebikes so far - classic steel city bike converted with hub motor, controller and DIY 700wh battery hidden in saddle bags (stealth city use, throttle) - downhill mtb converted with BBSHD midmotor and DIY 1000wh backpack battery (for hard mtb riding, PAS+throttle) - full buil...

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback. I'm aware of the impact that it also limits power, torque and this is fine for me.

Re: Cutoff throttle on standstill?

I have updated my code/circuit, now it does multiple things. - If you stand still, the e-brake is engaged and throttle does not work - if you kick the bike into movement, the e-brake is disengaged and throttle will work but limited in speed (resistor inline) - if you kick the bike into movement and ...

Re: Cutoff throttle on standstill?

Hello, I'm still waiting for my wheel, but in the mean time I have developed the code using an online emulator (tinkerCAD.com). Please see schematics and my code below. I used a LED to represent the "brake signal" and a button to represent the Hall-Sensor input. If you press the button a few times, ...

Re: Acceleration - Top Speed - Torque

I ordered a Crystalyte H 4065, I will put a resistor inline with the throttle to limit the top speed. With a switch I could bypass the resistor and open up the top speed.

thanks

Add resistor in line with throttle to limit top speed?

Hello, Optional intro I'm starting a new build soon (electric kickbike). I would like the option to limit the top speed to keep it road legal (27kmph, 17mph). My controller needs the optional display to do this, but I would like to keep the setup clean/simple and not use the display. If I understand...

Re: Cutoff throttle on standstill?

Thanks
I bought a Arduino Nano V3 and a pack of different resistors and transistors. Will need to have a look to write the code for this in the required language. The biggest motivation to use Python is that it is very high level and so easy to understand and learn.

Kind regards, Michiel.

Re: Cutoff throttle on standstill?

Hello, Thanks for your very helpfull reply. This does sound like a smart and doable solution. I have some experience programming (basic VBA, simple Python, ..) and have done some simple Raspberry Pi Projects (Python). I'm confident I can design the program myself. I also know what a transistor and r...

It is for a kickbike, so no pedaling, no chainrings, just throttle and pushing it manually :-)

Re: Upload Your Circuit Schematics & Requests Here...

Hello,

I'm looking for electronic component (or circuit if required) that engages the E-Brake cutoff (3-pin) if the bike is standing still. So you would need to move the bike a bit and then it disengages the E-brake cutoff. So only when moving can you apply the throttle.

Thanks

Acceleration - Top Speed - Torque

Hello, Optional intro I'm building an electric kick bike (have build three ebikes before). The controller I want to use (and already have) is limited to 48V and 40A. For motor I'm thinking a DD hub motor in a 20" rear wheel. To be road legal I'm limited to a top speed of just 17-18MPH . To make it f...

Opinions on AliExpress C&N 5.000W 72V 30Ah ebike

Hello, A C&N 5.000W ebike came up for sale locally (used). According to the ad it has a rock shox front fork (not the usual DNM crap) and a 72V 30Ah battery and has only done a few hundres miles. Besides aliexpress ads however, I couldn't find much info on these bikes. No real reviews and even here ...

Re: 30MPH Commuter : BBSHD vs QS205 24*5T

Local law in Belgium - Normal Ebike: 250W max, 25kmph max, PAS only - Speed Pedelec (fast ebike) 4000W max, 45kmph max, main purpose: PAS For a speed pedelec, you need to register the bike (license plate), wear a (bike)helmet, need a drivers license (moped or car) and if it has a throttle you also ...

Classic steel frame (no suspension) city bike with hub motor - Using this to get around town (flat roads, cobblestones, ..) - Crystalyte H4065 (High Torque motor in 28" wheel) @ 36V - 728Wh battery - Good/fast acceleration up to i...

BBSHD Brake Sensor - Hydraulic brake

Hello guys, I'm halfway through mounting my BBSHD on my freeride MTB. I'm really excited to get this bike finished! My bike has hydraulic brakes (Formula T1S) with 203mm rotors, but I can't seem to find a way to mount the brake sensor. http://bike-advisor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/formula-the-o...
