Do you have "Motor assistance startup without pedal rotation" enabled? That is what is what is supposed to happen with that enabled.
No, I have it disabled.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

i installed v. 0.18.02 yesterday night and today i have done 14km. All it's ok it woks perfectly !! only small defect if I stop with the foot on the pedal the bike tries to start. This slight defect is common to all the versions I tried but does not affect the use of the bike. I'm very very happy :...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Yeah I mean if you're running one of these 6-7Ah packs at 15-20A continuous, you only have a few minutes before the battery is flat, anyway. They're perfect my use case though, which I want a light bike that still feels like a bike and I can easily carry. I don't use the motor much except for gettin...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I've been using a 14s2p pack with GA cells (the one from Luna) in my BBS02 for awhile, and now I use the same pack with my TSDZ2. It's been fine but I also never come anywhere near using 12A+ continuously in either setup. I limit it to 16A in firmware on both motors just to be conservative. I have i...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I bought the one I linked to from that site and it had all 6 wires in it. To be clear, you're buying it basically for its connectors -- one male, one female. You'll use one to make a programming cable, and one to solder onto the KT-LCD3 (no need if you're using the VLCD5 obviously).

Shame you can't use a PC to program the motor and keep the original screen but can't have it all!. Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I am not against OEMs, business or laws, but protecting the environment is a higher objective, above all!! So, my focus will continue to be developing and share knowledge and technology (as OpenSource) for final users as me and that seems to go kind of against the manufactures/OEMs/sellers. I want ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

When wiring up the KT-LCD3, if you're not using brake sensors, what do you do with the brake wire from the controller? Leave it unconnected? Or tie it to P+ (green on 6 pin, blue on 8 pin)?

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Can I play devil's advocate? I think it might be really good for the overall project to include support for the OEM displays. I think there are probably a lot of people who would love to experiment with the firmware but are turned away by the need for a bunch of soldering and figuring out what donor...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Yes they are loud. There are people claiming they have quiet copies, but I have yet to see/hear evidence on youtube ;) I plan to have a really good go at quieting mine next month once I have moved. Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Some motors are louder than others. The open source firmware in my experience is nominally quieter and more efficient. I wish I knew what the variable was so I could try to make mine quieter. I'm going to need a lot more than a nominal improvement to get it down to what I'd like (I'm used to a BBS0...

Re: Why do I keep burning out XT90s connectors?

Wellllll I'm a huge dumbass. I gave up and decided to redo everything from scratch for lack of better ideas. When I took the new bullet connectors I'd put on the motor off, I found I had in fact gotten the polarity wrong. I don't know if that could blow the anti-spark resistor but it sure can...

Re: Why do I keep burning out XT90s connectors?

The obvious answer would be that for some reason (misconnection, heat from the soldering warping the body, some new torque on the connector) the contact isn't making completely and all the current flows through the precharge resistor forever. I'd take your assembly and connect it while looking at i...

Why do I keep burning out XT90s connectors?

I have a 52V (14s2p) battery with an XT90s (anti-spark) connector that I've been using on a BBS02 for awhile with no problems. I recently started a new build with a TSDZ2. I hooked up the battery and did a test of the new motor with an existing bullet-to-XT90 cable I already had (made it for my BBS0...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

casainho, can you share what you use for debugging / testing? I didn't see anything on the wiki. I'm new to embedded stuff. What's the best way to get some printf debugging going (or a real debugger)? Is there an STM tool I can use to get stdout over the stlink somehow while still having the wheel s...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

So Im going to ditch the 850C later today and go back to the LCD3 for now (with the nicer 850C buttons) and am going to order a VLCD6 and get that working to my liking. Are you going to submit PRs to casainho's tree? What kind of timeline are you looking at? Unless you're going to get started prett...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I think a much simpler approach would be to just have the display type as a parameter in the EEPROM. This could simplify things if even more displays are supported. After using LCD3 for a month or so, I just got an 850C working. Unfortunately Im not happy with the result. To be able to use will req...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

marcoq, casainho, I'm interested in using the VLCD6 because I like the small compact form factor (and my motor came with one). I like the flexibility of setting things via display, but I'm willing to set them via programming the controller instead in exchange for the form factor I prefer. So, given ...

TSDZ2 different (mechanical) versions There are at least 2 TSDZ2 different (mechanical) versions. The most recent version seems the one that has a helical main gear. I found this while repairing my main gear clutch, were I tried to use a main gear from another motor. Luckily I had even another TSDZ...
