Re: Bypass-Type BMS?
There's no reason or desire to use something like this normally--unless you have a badly-out-of-balance (damaged) pack I have a reason. The runt cell can take a break while the strong ones keeps working. At some point the strong ones will wear out and be equally as weak as the runts. it's a l...

Re: Bypass-Type BMS?
Aloha  . I've been dreaming about making this since 2007 when I was active here. It's only now that I figured out how to make it using Arduino and relay boards. But the relays are only rated at 30VDC 10A which is great for my boombox packs and a 30 volt ebike. I've been flaky so I won't prom...

Re: I am back AF
Hey DrunkSkunk! Aquaponics, actually. I moved to another apartment with a rooftop yard and I was excited to start a larger aquaponics garden. Unfortunately, this yard has tiny red mites, spider mites maybe, and other flea-like bugs that destroy the moringa at the roots so I haven’t been able to get ...

Re: Got my aquaponics project started
I think you might need more light. I always found that to be very critical. yep, light and dry weather, both of which just happened to appear in the last few weeks. I forgot that sunlight would reposition down into the living room floor at this time of the year, so now the plants are getting early ...

Re: Got my aquaponics project started
peppers may like dry yeah, I read that too why did you not use aquatic plants in the aquariums to eat up the nitrogen? i thought that was why they were there, for the balance with the fish. My main crop will be peppers because fresh jalapenos aren't available. And I can't eat aquatic plants. Lettuc...

Loaches have a sense of camaraderie
Loaches have a sense of camaraderie, no really! Nitrogen was rising so I stopped feeding for about 4 days. Their behavior was strange, all fish activity stopped as if they've all been put on "pause" like a DVD movie. The loaches sat still at the bottom of the tank or on top of the clay pot...

Re: Got my aquaponics project started
I AM SO HAPPY with the tube bridge build. It serves two purposes: a bridge for the fish between tanks, of course, and a bigger diameter water transfer pipe...the problem was: the grow bed drained fresh water back to tank A and raised the water level higher than Tank B, two hand pump siphons weren't ...

dam bug problems eating your plants. Have you tried growing some garlic ? it may help repel the insects ah, haven't heard of garlic as pesticide, I'll check it out, thanks for the tip! Murray Hallam uses molasses with drop of dishwashing liquid but it's maybe for bigger insects but I'll try it too.

Beetle mites of course.. tiny buggers be can be seen without magnification. Strange...

Re: Got my aquaponics project started
Ok, got the growbed moved indoor. The tanks are still in the balcony so hoses run in and out through the window. I'm getting ready to move the fish tank inside as well as buy another tank for the tilapia. But first I'll to fab two rolling aquarium platforms. I wont be able to use the adjustable roll...
