Was it quite cost effective or expensive?
Did you just glue the joint between the housing and the mast mount again?
Parts was about 300$, which is quite inexpencive for a one-off. Nope, no glue at all this time. Only screws:) to ease maintenance.

The V2 is looking fantastic! Did you do the machining and anodizing or did you get it done elsewhere?[/quote]

Thanks :) nope ordered from a supplier.

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

Waterfox: NO issues with the seals, but you should grease them up from time to time.

Very nice superlefax! If you make a bigger board it will be much easier to ride :)

Cheers

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

The flite board looks nice, like how they have placed the thruster in line with the front wing. Looks more natural, in a way.

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

Well... The only difference is that we share everything without any plans to earn money on it. People are free to do whatever they like with our design. Part of the game is copying something and improving other stuff, that is the fun part of it... And Yes we are working on V2 that is improved. You c...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

We have max rpm on around 3000rpm, 2/3 throttle is enough to foil so 2000rmp should be enough, but it is hard to tell. You should just try :)

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

Looks like a nice gearbox! But also looks pretty expencive :/ Looks like unavailable. One man made it (several), just for fun of it. Make questions, create design, find a way to produce not one but thousand cheep, sell. I will be the first one thanking you for. :) Just to motivate you a little (I k...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

We destroyed our first Gearbox. It was expected, as it were about 10 years old, and probably been running for more than 30 000h. Will soon be ready with our V2 with a new and better gearbox solution. We bought 2 used ones, so we cut our propulsion unit open, changed the gearbox and patched it back t...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

We grinded the shaft down while the motor was running. Our input without the sleeve inside was about 9mm. Would recommend to get an 8mm shaft 56104 (they are avaliable on ebay). Took at least 2 hours to grind it down. Or remove the shaft and use a lathe... but we did not have that type og equipment :D

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

Strength Ok I take it? No problems with heat? I was reading that pla less good with higher temperatures and tends to decompose over time. (No experience at all with 3d printing so keen to not make rookie mistakes) We used a combination of nylon sls (waterproof high load parts) and pla (prop and duc...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

We use PLA. Seems to bond well to epoxy as well. We know it's controversial, but we believe PLA to be a better material than abs (at least on cheap printers without heated chamber etc). It's a lot easier to work with, low shrink, good layer adhesion (almost all 3d prints break between the layers). S...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

@superlefax Yes, will build a two part duct (without visible screws) that has downstream stators as well. Put my ESC, ubec and rc-receiver inside a small aluminium box (3mm wall), with another aluminium 1.5mm heatsink/lid on top. Worked in the workshop, but had loads of signal issues on the water, k...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

@dirk diggler The stl file of the structural components is stacked for sls print (no need for support). If you are printing on a fdm printer you have to open the step file in a cad program such as Onshape, an separate them. @kiter uk Not sure of the speed, not good enough on the foil yet.. But I gue...

Hi guys, in my first post in this forum I want to share with you my design of the propulsion unit. Also there is a removable ele...

Re: Electric Hydrofoil/E-Foil

We used 85cm mast length. But I think you can use both longer and shorter masts. Too short will make it hard to ride as there is little room for adjustment once up. Too long will make it unstable when ridimg high above the water.

Minimum length, 50cm maybe, hard to say.
