Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Hello again everyone! It's been a while since I've posted. My Cyclone 3kw ebike project is still a project at the moment. I'm going to be ready to order a BMS and assemble my battery in the next few weeks. Balancing my funds has been tricky but at least this way I'll get to enjoy and test it all spr...

Re: Homemade Battery Packs

Hey all, I have 140 18650 cells that I plan to configure in to a 20s7p battery. Since I'm using 7p, I'm thinking about using 2" - 2.5" ABS, or Polycarbonate tube to house my batterys. Depending on how snug the fit is at 2", I was thinking about wrapping the batteries, or lining the tube with either...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Luna has been out of parts whenever I've been ready to buy. Im looking at the cyclone-tw page now. I need a clockwise motor since my chain is driven from the rider's right side, correct?

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Solderin

Does anyone have recommendations for non consuctive material? In the form of matting
I want something like a yoga mat, that can compress a bit. I'm planning to use the material as some what of a spring, in order to compress my battery contacts together.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Tha ks for your time and calculation.. So you saying that I need the largest possible sprocket on the uppermost part of the motor for example 14 or 15 tooth, then the smallest possible on the chainrings, so 34 tooth in my case, and also the smallest gear on the rear cassette? Correct, and your cass...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

From the selection of chainrings that Cyclone has, what tooth option would be best for top speed along with my Shimano 7 speed freewheel cassette in the rear?? Looking for the fastest possible speed combination Thanks You want a 48T option on your chainring. Just think about your existing chainring...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

The luna kit says 7 to 1 gear reduction..i thought the motor was 6 to 1 ? Are they exactly the same motor as on the cyclone site? Their site says it's a 6:1 on one page and a 5:1 on another page. Someone on this thread calculated the correct value. Based on the tooth count it's something lik 5.3:1 ...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Why limit the purchasing to only Luna or Cyclone direct? From everywhere I ended up visiting, luna has a really good price for their kit, and you continue to get good discounts when you upgrade parts. For example, the kelly controller Luna offers is a kelly kbs72121x, this controller is a $90 upgra...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Hi, is there a big difference from the kit direct from Cyclone vs Luna cycle kit ? Seems like the Luna cycle is out of stock so I am tempted to get it direct from factory. Luna will be back in stock in a week or two. A new shipment of motors is shipping now. Im planning to buy a kitt too when they ...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Yeah, you should definitely research the Samsung 25r. I really feel that it is the best for high-current use. The other cell I would consider is the 30q, but its voltage drops off toward the end. Study the discharge graphs. http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Samsung%20INR18650-25R%202500mAh%...

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Solderin

The USA seller told me that the V1 version is rated by them for about 2.5 amps per cell. I am waiting for V2 because I need about 6 amps per cell as a max draw. I must have missed the post(s) about how to raise that number for the V1 version. Do you have a link to information about that? It's actua...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Does anyone know how well this:
http://www.ebikes.ca/product-info/cycle-analyst-3.html
Works with the cyclone 3kw, or the KbS72121x kelly controller?
It sure seems to do quite a bit for you. Maybe it's better for people with one of the 'stock' controller that would come in a kit?

Re: E-Bike won't start (sometimes) - any help?

Does your controller have starting throttle protection? Maybe your throttle sensor is sending a signal to your controller, and the built in protection is stopping everything so you dont lurch yourself off he bike or pull current before everything is ready and all your curcuits are charged.

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Solderin

Did anyone arrive at a number for continuous Amps that you can put through the bus bars? I'm planning to build a 20s5p 72v battery (maybe 2x 10s5p in series using this kit.) I saw the trick of using a copper wire between the spring and caps to improve current flow. Have folks used the SS bars for th...

Re: High cells count vs low cell count.

Apart from safety issue what are actual differences between battery with 18650 cells or bigger size 21700 size cells. Some company claims they increased running time of electric bike by using bigger cell. From what I've seen there are a few things. The buggest difference is I cannot find a vender f...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Those cells are a great price, but I had a hard time finding what kind of current they are rated for. I honestly don't mind paying a little extra for good cells, since I'm building my own battery I want to do everything as 'right' or as reasonably over done as possible. Buying cells with good data, ...

I'm only driven from Samsung because of their phones. I know that's rediculous because it's defferent battery ch...

Hello all! I am nearly ready to start my build but would like some more input from the experts here. Actually I was going to start buying parts today but LunaCycle is currently out of there 3kw cyclone kits. (More are supposed to arrive in 3-4 weeks.) and IMRBatteries stopped offering LG cells. I'm still very much a novice, but I'm a student and have been up and down the battery pages a few times getting ready for my build. I'm also planning to build with 18650 li ion...but here's what I'm thinking. Basic lipo cells has 3.3v on the low end, 3.7v nominal, 4.2v full. Based on that I assume t...
