Re: Milwaukee battery out of balance

tool battery packs are usually fast charged at higher amps, once cells start going out of balance, the high amps charging will be to high to let the small balance resistors to work. Slow charging if possible might be able to get them back in balance. Since you already open them up might as well sold...

This is the brand I been using for years, its also 60/40 and 0.8mm is a good size, not too small or large. It works as good as the kester brand. I got 3 rolls always ready to go.

Re: Calling All Experts->Unsolved Mystery: Sudden Battery Voltage drop to Empty

are you able to check cell voltage in realtime while charging? I always had balance issues with my lifepo4 at the top end. If just going by overall voltage when charging, if one cell is higher then the rest, you'll reach full voltage, and the battery will not be anywhere near full. Are you charging ...

Re: Charging toys from solar??

you can find 1200 watt boost converters on ebay for about 20 dollars, some shipping from US suppliers. I have one that I use to power a laptop, from input 12 volt voltage, the output can go all the way to 90 volts. Just make sure you have a fan blowing at it if using with higher amps. You have to bu...

Re: charger cuts off too soon.

If the charger cuts off too soon, its probably the battery is out of balance. If some of the cells are low, the bms might be activating to stop charging as soon as one of the high cells reach the limit. The bms balance resistors won't help much if the battery is too out of balance. If I were you I w...

Re: Advice on 48v to 12v LifeP04 reconfigure & bms

The amazon bms only has a max of 10 amp charging, thats too low for your alternator. I been using the chargery bms8 on my 220ah 4s lifepo4 for the past 2 years 24/7, its been rock solid. The only disadvantage is you have use your own contactors (2 of them) one for charge and one for discharge. I bee...

Re: Adding Current and Voltage Controls.

you can connect a buck converter between the charger and battery. You need a buck converter that can handle the range your looking for. The buck converters have two small screws , one for voltage and one for current, and they are cc/cv chargers. I use buck converters to charge all my li-ion and life...

Re: 12 volt LiFePO4 50 amp battery build.

I have used the a123 26650 cells to build a 4s lifepo4 pack, because of their limited capacity I only use as a jump pack. Like someone mentioned they take alot of space for the amount of power they produce. I was also going to build a 30 ah lifepo4 battery pack with a123 cells but it was taking up t...

Re: 12v Leisure Battery made from 18650 cells? RV,

the first lithium pack I built for my van was with 156x 18650 cells it was a 3s26p x2 total 94ah pack. So its possible to build one, but very labor intensive, you need to test every cell, you need to get a tab welder, have some soldering skills. My current house battery is a 4s40p lifepo4 220ah, als...

Re: 12v Battery out of 18650 cells

If you have a 3s bms on your 3s6p battery, the best way to charge is to get a buck converter ( you can find them for less then 10 dollars) and then you can use any charger that at least puts out 14 volts or better yet a laptop charger. The buck converter you set it to the 12.6 volts and any power so...

It should be able to be done. Its just 2 wires that have to be added to make the probe cables. From watching the video, I could see his original problem right away with the cables overheating. Re: Charging voltage cutoff device

you can use a buck converter in series before the battery. I use them to charge my 3s and 4s battery packs, but they can handle much higher voltages. And with a buck converter you can "dial in" the final voltage and also the max charge amps. On mine I use a cheap 5 dollar volt/amp led mete...

Re: Charging through DC controller

doublecheck your battery pack, it should a have a bms built in. If it doesn't have a bms, it needs to also have a jst balance wire connector. No 48 volt lithium battery pack will only have 2 wires unless it has a bms. Without a bms or someway to monitor the cell voltage it would be unsafe. If the ba...

Re: What's the longest period of time you can store a Li-Ion pack?

See if you can check each cell voltage with some sort of meter. The pack sounds like it went out of balance. Just get it back in balance and it should be good. But since it drained without use, there might be a weak cell in the pack. A weak cell will give you balancing problems and also slow drain. ...

Re: Charging Lithium Battery With Lead Acid Charger

Any CV/CC charger can charge lead acid, li-ion or lifepo4. I use a 10 dollar buck converter (which has adjustable voltage) to charge all 3, just make sure the max voltage to your battery is accurate. A 72 volt CV/CC lead acid charger will charge a 72 volt lithium. A CV/CC charger will give your batt...

You just need a good battery that has a good CCA rating, myself I use a 8 year old 27ah fullriver fullthrottle agm battery to power my 12 volt malectrics, it works excellent. I tried using a 4s8p lifepo4 (A123 cells) and also a 3s6p li-ion(using sony vct3 cells) and all I got was weak welds. The ful...

Its probably better then nothing, but if the fire isn't put out before it spreads to the adjoining cells then nothing will put it out. The only fire I had was when I shorted out a cell A123 26650. the chargery bms8/bms16 they have a lcd screen and coulombcounter. The base model comes with a 100 amp shunt. You can find the chargery bms16 with a 300 amp shunt for $115 on ebay. Re: Use a Lifepo4 chargers for Li-ion cells?

Both chemistries are charged by cc/cv, so it should work especially since you can adjust the voltage. That's how i charge all my lifepo4 and li-ion with a cc/cv charger and they get an excellent charge. lifepo4 16s(x 3.65) would be 58.4 max charge, li-ion 14s(x 4.2) would be 58.8 max charge, even wi...

Yes you can do it, its how I have my 220ah lifepo4 connected. Its basically 4 x 4s10p battery packs connected together in parallel and everything hooked up to 1x 30a 4s bms. As long as you connect all the balance connectors together the pack will equalize. I had it connected that way almost 3 years ...

Re: Can't get batteries to link

if you got a multimeter do a continuity test on the wire, thats the quickest way to check if the wire is bad. Also wiggle the wire back and forth to make sure its not broken inside (intermittent) while doing the test.
If its broken, its easy to splice over the broken section.
