Running 2 different Li-ion batteries in parallel ?
Hello, I want to run 2 batteries in parallel on my ebike, both home-made : - 52V, 14S-6P & 14S-4P. - identical BMS for both batteries : 35A, single port (for charge and discharge). - identical cells (Samsung INR35E, 3450 mAh). - the controller is a Phaserunner, the motor a GMAC. - I use my ebike...

Re: MAC GMAC Hot Rod Info
Jil...I sent Grin Tech an email because I wasn't sure going to 72v will help your Phaserunner...below is a quote from their response. "at the same speed, the system would need the same amount of phase current and it's independent of the battery voltages. Therefore the Phaserunner would be as h...

Direct Drive motor vs. central motor for a motorbike / QS138 90H vs. DD55
Hello, Do you know what is the impact in terms of handling & comfort (on & off road) of installing a central motor vs. a rear direct drive hub motor ? I'm talking about the suspended weight which will be much higher with a hub motor. The choice would be between QS138 90H and DD55 (if you see...

Re: MAC GMAC Hot Rod Info
Thanks a lot for your answers everybody :) I've tried the motor simulator, it appear that either with 52V or 72V battery, I can run a bit higher than 50 kph continuously without overtheating (flat land, no wind). But from my experience the 52V battery voltage goes quickly donw below 50 V, thus limit...

Re: MAC GMAC Hot Rod Info
Hi, I currently ride a Surly Krampus with GMAC 8T + Phaserunner controller + 52V (14S) battery, and 29" wheels, mainly for off-road use (beaches). It's nice but I find it a bit limited in max speed, and the controller gets limited also quickly due to high temp at max speed and power (around 160...

Hi, I'm thinking about buying the Silence S01 scooter : https://www.silence.eco/en/s01/ I have 50km ride to go to work, mainly on road, so I would like to be able to use it at max power for at least 30 to 40 km. From feedback of existing users, it seems that the "sport mode" of the SO1 (ma...

E-motorbike with removable battery for 60 km range at 80-90 kph
Hi, Everything is in the title  I'm looking for my 50 km-daily commuting (40 km of road and 10 km of city) an electric motorbike (or eventually scooter) that allows a minimum range of 60 km, riding at 80-90 kph on road. I cannot charge at home directly on the bike, that's whay I need a removab...

Re: Is regenerative braking really worth anything?
My answer : yes it worths it. I have GMAC, with 14S6P battery (52V), I have set up my regen to 15A (ie. 800 watts), it is now my main brake in current use. I use the hydraulic brakes only in case of emergency, or to "finish" the stop. I think it worths it becasue it is smooth and you are g...

Re: Cycle Analyst v3 + phase-runner : using the throttle as regen brake ?
No, thanks
Indeed I think that I will finally replace my old hydraulic rear brake by a mechanical one, and use a brake cut-off lever that I have in stock to activate the regen (and still keep the mechanical rear brake for emergency).
And remove the throttle.

I would just like to know how to set up my Cycle Analyst (or my Phaserunner), I have found no information on Grin's documentation.
Thanks

Cycle Analyst v3 + phase-runner : using the throttle as regen brake ?
Hi,
Is it possible to set up a simple throttle (the one provided by Grin with the GMAC kit) only for regen braking ?
I don't need a throttle for the motor, as I prefer using a PAS.

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?
After 10 months, my Surly Krampus with GMAC is working well. I have made aroud 2500-3000 kms with it, without any trouble. I have juste encountered some spoke breakages on the rear wheel, but it was due to a bad mounting (by me...) This summer I have made a quick trip from south of France to Bardena...

Re: GMAC on a new Mountain Bike?
Regarding teh GMAC, keep in mind that it doestn' have a freewheel in it, so without power it may be very difficult to pedal, possibly much harder than a DD hubmotor due to the planetary gearing No, it's not. I have a Krampus Surly with a GMAC and use it sometimes without battery, it's easy to pedal...

Re: Small motor 5-10 kW
Thank you for the advices :) The QS3000 looks good. for my use. 3000W nominal is perhaps a bit low. Has it a big brother ? The PMS80 is really nice, but I don't want to put 1800€ in the motor itself. What do you think of this motor ? With a fan on the shaft to keep it cool. Realistic, or inappropria...

Small motor 5-10 kW
Hi,
I'm thinking about building an electric kit for my motorbike.
I'm looking for a small motor, able to work at 5-6 kW continuous (max 10 kW), and with a rotating speed 1000-5000 rpm under 72V.
Do you have advices ?
Thanks !

No but I don’t have the temperature cable.500WhatsThat wrote: ↑Dec 02 2019 9:53amMy CA3 doesn't seem to repeat the motor temperature from the Phaserunner. The Temp reads -39C, LoL.
Does yours?
Anyways given my use (high speed and flat terrain), the motor is not the limitation. I’ve never found it to be even a bit warm after use.

Quick feedback after 1 month 1/2 and 5-600 kms with my GMAC 8T (on 29" wheel) + Phaserunner + 14S6P battery + PAS : this setup is wonderful ! I'm able to drive at 50 kph on flat, with a power around 1200–1300W. The Phaserunner is amazing, so much power in such a small device ! But it's not made...

Re: 1 kW motor : rear G360, GMAC, 9C RH212, Crystalyte H3540 - or front Grin All Axle ?
Despite my 52V battery and 29 inches wheels, I’ve chosen the 8T following simulations with the Grin tool. My main use is flat terrrain at 45 kph, 28/30 mph. For this 10T would have worked at 50V and higher, but not below. And the climbing capacity doesn’t change. The difference is the motor current ...
