Re: Electric Surf Board

Hi srn. so my first impressions are the mgm esc is very very good indeed. i bought the industrial version, so i dont know exactly how different it is from the modeller version. it was pretty expensive at 1100 euro. but the temperature protection works great as i found out today. extremely well manu...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Re: Electric Surf Board

yeah it looks pretty funny, but wasnt so funny when the brain freeze started.

its hard to say how fast it is, it feels real fast, but im guessing around 35 kph at full throttle, although it feels like 100kph.

ill see if i can get a gps sorted to take some speed measurements

heres another vid of about 80 percent throttle https://youtu.be/d7sS6LbpJsw

Re: Electric Surf Board

No it is just for fun ;-) At the moment I am using Kokam pouch cells 14S1P. I have worked in the automotive industry and also some years in the formular 1, that is the reason for doing everything in carbon. My first board was finished 2013, at those days it would have been the right time to think a...

i made a pack from 112 samsung q30 cells. so its a 14s 8p battery. lasts about 25 mins do you work in the auto industry? out of curiosity what motor did you use? also are you planning to manufacture/sell the boards? looks like youve put some effort into the design work. looking forward to seeing som...

Hello,

I created completely new jet. It will be availible soon for download, after I printed and testrun it. Here are some pictures. I improved bearings, added grease nipples, better waterflow..........
i have to say thats a nice piece of design work. is it going on a jetsurf?

Re: Electric Surf Board

[..] lehner motor. looks nothing like it does in the photo. looks well engineered, its smaller than i expected, some real nice innovations in it. like each winding solders to a pcb instead of being wound to the next winding (ill take a photo so you understand what im trying to say). The thing i was...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Maybe the 80xx series from Neumotor suit your needs. It has 80mm stator dia (100mm outside), available up to 57mm in length. It should be a torque monster, but the max rated RPM is 8000. These motors have thin 0,2mm lams! http://neumotors.com/80xx-series-electric-motors/ at the moment i build a mid...

Re: Electric Surf Board

pics of the motor. sorry i didnt take the motor off the board, but its a pain to get your hands in there.

the second photo shows the innovative pcb board instead the copper between windings. i expect it cuts down on eddie currents, and makes a very neat job. very good idea from lehner!

Re: Electric Surf Board

the motor arrived, but my esc immediately burned out. i did a lot of phoning electronics manufacturers, and probing them for qc details. seems to me most 300 a esc are actually only tested to 100a. same with the motors. maybe you can get like 1,1/2 seconds on a model boat at 300a, but thats it. i en...

Re: Electric Surf Board

no, my battery pack is rated at 160A cont. but my old motor was drawing 160A peak when full throttle on the jetdrive.
i dont really expect that to change much, since im using the same size prop, and the motor will have the same number of windings

Re: Electric Surf Board

yep. according to the manufacturer, the esc is good for 300A cont, and 1000A burst. i kinda doubt its really gonna live up to that, but if it gets even halfway close to that it should be ok the lehner motor is rated for like 200A cont this time im gonna wire up a temp sensor to the stator/windings, ...

Re: Electric Surf Board

I want to use the same motor. How long do you have to wait for it ? which one the lehner or the chinese? the lehner wait is 10 days after payment. plus shipping time. the chinese motor was about the same, 10 days plus shipping. but its chinese new year, so there is a delay currently. and romanian i...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Chris, how is it going? Did you push the motor to its limits already? yeah i pushed it, and the windings burned out after about 10 mins. i should have monitored the current and temps while using the board. oh well. i contacted the company who makes the motor, and they are very helpful. they say the...
