here you go. i just put a nut in the mould prior to injecting epoxy
Our shape is nearly the same, but I think I will mill a new mould with same system of screw & nut.
Have not thought about this before, very good idea

Re: Electric Surf Board

I used PE because Epoxid Resin should not stick to it.

But because of a too rough surface, it is sticking like hell ..

For my second Impeller, I applied normal candle wax on the surface.
This worked very well.

here my mould out of PE.
How many impellers have you made out of the PE's negative mold?
At the moment two. The second one has already the quality that I want for my prototype.

Re: Electric Surf Board

I made my impeller very similar. Produced two negative forms with CNC mill, then applied epoxid resin and small pieces of carbon fiber until i had approx. 5 - 10 layers everywhere. With weights i pressed both forms together with the propeller in the middle. At the end I got the impeller as shown att...

Re: Electric Surf Board

i have 60mm impeller diameter. i decided to build 60mm when i was also thinking to use 7kw motor. maybe i am too small for the lehner now, but will give it a try first.

Re: Electric Surf Board

the 3060 is an inrunner thats why it has not enough torque and too high rpm for this purpose. Especially for your huge 80mm impeller i guess the 3060 is too small

Re: Electric Surf Board

I am also building a jet surfboard. Carbon Jet-tunnel, selfmade carbon impeller and aluminum nozzle.

As I spend so much time in building the board and parts, I currently tend to buy a Lehner Torqstar + MGM controller.

Re: Electric Surf Board

The 7kw of your motor is the peak power I guess. Same for the ESC.
Did you already order ? Would be very interesting to see a test of this motor under load. (alienpowersystems offers same motor)
