Re: Another 2-speed dogbox

It's gonna have traditional oil sump shared for primary transmission and gears. There's adaptor flange between motor and primary drive casing, with oil seal and additional bearing, so if you would want to use different motor, you would need just different flange. As stated before, I'm using gears fr...

Re: Another 2-speed dogbox

Just made some progress designing it. I have CNC mill, but it has only 110mm of Z travel, so I cannot do very high parts. This design takes it into notice. I have an idea of cable-operated gear change - normal MTB brake lever on handlebar. The gears are spring loaded to 2-nd, but if you pull the han...

connector for hub motor?

Hello
Is there any connector that contains 3 phase and 5 hall leads in one package?
I've been using 3X Anderson powerpoles + sealed DIN5, but maybe there's a better product?

Re: Another 2-speed dogbox

Well, I'm using standard moped gearbox.
The whole gear set cost me 30€ and I can get more in large quantities if needed.
The model is Delta RMR-24. There was box full of gearbox parts at local motorcycle shop.

Another 2-speed dogbox

Hi all I posted this to ES facebook page, but I guess its better to put it here also. I'm building my hybrid bike and one idea was to use 2-speed gearbox. Initially I wanted to use Babetta automatic gearbox, but the guy whom I was gonna buy it, acted like a fool and ruined my plans. So, next candida...

BionX repair

OK, here's the situation: I have older BionX hub motor kit on city bike for repair here. Initially the owner wanted to replace the battery, which was dead (0V). So, we ordered a new BionX battery for him, but that didn't bring the bike into life. Now, when I switch it on, the display starts flickeri...

Re: Electric "tough bike"

And once agin, it's repair time. I made real axle stand for the bike, which broke motor cable just where it enters the axle. So, I have to rewire everything. Also I had some trouble with spokes, radial pattern wasn't strong enough for motor torque. The new idea is one hole shifted pattern - all the ...

Re: 2WD hybrid enduro build

Todays progress - machined the casing side open. There was a bit fuckup, I wanted to get rid of the kickstarter extension on the case, but didn't check it through, it had opening where it didn't need to be. So, now there's hole which needs to be welded shut. http://static3.nagi.ee/i/p/996/2/24900711...

Re: 2WD hybrid enduro build

OK, I haven't posted for a long time, again. And once again there's a change of plan. I chose Alien Power C80100 sensored motor (50kv), which should be much better option than GNGbike 2.5kw (on 72V) motor. Also, I 3D-scanned the generator so I can use it with Fusion 360 CAD. For batteries I chose Tu...

8WD transport platform

Hello everyone I'm playing with the idea of making 8-wheeled transport platform, using 8 separate motors. Also all wheels would be generously suspended. First and last wheels would turn to opposite direction, giving vehicle very small turning circle. For wheels, I want to use kids ATV front rims and...

Re: Electric "tough bike"

Thanks. In meantime, we built this black chopper featured on video. It's actually Yamaha Dt125r enduro bike. Or was. 72V 40Ah LiFePO battery, 100A sinewave controller, 13' scooter hub motor. It doesnt even get warm, actually the batteries are limiting factor, they tend to sag under power. It's very ...

Re: 2WD hybrid enduro build

I dropped the 2WD idea this time, because I found something interesting: 2-speed automatic gearbox (not CVT) from Babetta moped engine. My friend has this lying at garage and he wants 30€ for it. The operating principle is rather simple and ingenious. Both gears are always engaged, but 1-st gear is ...

Re: E-volo 18 rotor copter

Its nice and obiously well developed, but why are its designers mimicking helicopter? I mean there's "fake rotor", which consists of many smaller rotors. It's even circular like usual helicopter. It kinda reminds me first cars, that looked like horse carriages. Same goes for quadrotor bike, that for...

Re: Packet based microgrid

It's much better to make simple boost DC/DC conversion from panels. In addition, boost conversion smooths current and voltage on the panels and thus they don't suffer from capacitive corrosion (Google for TCO corrosion)... For what? More battery voltage? Batteries cost, I have four 100Ah AGM batter...

Re: Packet based microgrid

We generate it as AC. Transmit it as AC then in most high power situations we use it as AC. I wasn't talking about average home today. For example I have summer home at tiny island of Prangli. My house has solar array mounted on roof that charges 48V 100Ah battery pack. I charge my laptop via 48V-1...

Re: Packet based microgrid

Actually, inefficient DC is a myth and comes from past when you didn't have means to transform DC voltages. Inefficiency comes from low voltage, since you cannot transmit low voltages for a great distance, high voltage DC sould be slightly more eficcient because of impedance losses on AC. The reason...

Redesigned the whole thing, moved front motor to the side, because routing chain through fork plate with ability to tension the chain was very difficult. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/k5KjGCV-IYqSodq2XMWjj1sKU_yDzQOgMEum6ETvYqN9IOvvmJrFqEbByIk0IpK5E-d7lgwzWZ0aNZBhPbYFQRx3fqcU8Yh3BogPLKiqJMAeakQD...

Packet based microgrid

Hello folks I have this idea about electricity being distributed similar to TCP-IP packets. There's different nodes with different capabilities - producing packets (solar panels, wind generators etc.); consuming packets and also devices that can do both, like battery banks. So, each device sends, fo...
