Re: Newbie with an ebike

And a couple more newbie questions since I'm very lacking in electrical knowledge. I'm putting my controller, I thought was bad, back together to stick it on and see if it's still any good since I don't know any other way to test it and I wanted a little input. This is where I noticed a little "burn...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

It's a schwinn high timber with a bouncy seat off my beach cruiser. It was a free gift about 10 years ago with the purchase of an air compressor, and had been just sitting around hardly ever been used. The decals claim its aluminum although the magnet test reveals otherwise which I'm happy about. Fr...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

That seems to have done it. Pulled out that bad cell group, broke down the rest and reconfigured them to 13s9p. Seems to work fine now. Haven't had the chance to see if the original controller is actually bad or not yet, but I'll get to that in the next week. I do feel a little better about the setu...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

All I've been able to figure out thus far is the volts on one group of my batteries is reading low. All parallel groups are at 4.20v except one that's at 2.54v. It's a 13s10p, so I guess I'll just take out the group of 10 that are reading low and break everything else down to reconfigure it in 13s9p...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

I don't really think that would be it as everything works fine with no weight on the motor.

Re: Newbie with an ebike

I still don't have a cycle analyst yet so how could I go about using my multimeter to determine the amount of amps being drawn when I throttle the bike with a load on it? I do have a second "bms" ( one from each original battery, only used one when I combined the batteries together) I could try swap...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

Got a whole new ebike kit as I couldn't find just the exact controller by itself. With the new controller on I lifted the rear wheel and tested it, all seemed good. Mounted the controller where it would get airflow and thought I'd be good to go. Today I needed to run to the store so I hop on it and ...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

Guess I blew my controller up. Bike acted all weird the other day, display claimed it went from 48v to 14v all of the sudden and wouldn't run. Switched it off and back on, worked fine but kept randomly doing this throughout the day and especially under full throttle. Took everything apart and checke...

Re: >W commuter

Well over the weekend I broke down both batteries(13s5p) and put them both together into an 13s10p pack and was able to get everything into the triangle case I made but they barely fit. Pretty happy with my results. My commute to work one way is 4.7 miles and I usually go pretty much full blast on t...

Re: >W commuter

That looks nice. I thought mine might fit in that gap too but over the weekend when I joined the two battery packs into one I worked it out to leave enough room in my case for everything to fit. But it just barely fits. Was so wrapped up with designing it to fit everything in there i forgot to even ...

Re: >W commuter

Got the battery box in the triangle like I wanted. Thought I destroyed one of my battery packs but it was just a bad multimeter so making a 13s10p battery was put on hold til I figured that out but will be back to it this weekend. Pretty sure with such a big battery in there I won't be able to fit t...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

Well I got some good news. Working on my motorcycle over the weekend and needed to use my multimeter a few times and I could tell something just wasn't right, bought a new multimeter and figured it out real quick. Turns out my multimeter broke somehow and I only thought I had ruined my ebike battery...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

Well y'all can go ahead and laugh at me and say I told you so. I have no idea what happened. Took one battery pack(65 cells) apart into strips of 5p so I could start making my bigger pack, all tested out to 4.12 afterwards and thought everything would go smoothly. Started putting them in 10p and sta...

Re: >W commuter

Well last week I went ahead and chopped up the battery pack that was still new in the box and made a template of the box I wanted in the triangle out of some wooden flooring I have laying around. Both battery packs will easily fit in, but haven't taken the controller out of my bag yet to see if it w...

>W commuter

Been getting a little advice from you all here and decided to make my own build thread. I'm using a pretty cheap (was free with the purchase of an air compressor about 8/9 years ago and used for about a week then stored) schwinn high timber "mountain bike". Ordered a hub motor kit and accidentally 2...

Re: Newbie with an ebike

Firstly, I do appreciate all of the advice and the concern about my lack of knowledge, but I love to learn new stuff and believe I can tackle this project. I really do want some panniers for my bike but they'll have to wait for now. Riding motorcycles I know how handy they are and I dislike backpack...

Any specific wire gauge you'd go with for my application?

Re: Newbie with an ebike

Ok, so now that I've gotten home and unwrapped everything it looks like this battery pack(which I have two of that I want to combine but rearrange in my frame triangle rather than on a rear rack) is made of lggbmg11865 cells arranged in an 13s5p pattern. I want to eventually get it into an 13s10p pa...

This is where things get a little confusing for me. Wasn't expecting all this little wires in there.

Re: Newbie with an ebike

Thanks, this is just for the commuting stage right now but i can definitely see wanting to make an electric motorcycle in the future once I feel better with everything and understand more. My current setup (based on the display) will go 33mph on flat ground and that's too much for my rickety little ...

Newbie with an ebike

Hey there everybody, I've been surfing around this forum for a while now and found a lot of great information and am truly thankful for this wealth of knowledge ill probably never understand. I'm 27 years old living in Florida and to my research there's not very much limiting me in the law from buil...
