Re: Ebike power cut-off due to controller

I guess I'll 3rd the saggy battery theory. A 9p battery is fairly dense for a 250w motor but every battery sags a little under load. Some cells just sag way more than others and that's what makes the good ones expensive. Say... if you used some LG HG2's or MJ1's the pack could be a 6p or 7p and stil...

Last time it was going to cost $50 + $15 for shipping to get a new pair.

Re: Kelly KLS-S: Troubleshooting

I've got a KLS7230s and push it at the max ratings just about everyday. I've gone thru each menu and played with all the settings. This whole cutting power after accelerating after 2-3 seconds then coming back on is either a saggy battery or the setup is wrong on the first "Vehicle" menu. My batter...

Re: Kunteng KT 36/48SVPRK light output

Honestly, it's just enough juice to switch a relay.

I wouldn't try to power any light directly with this "output".

If you do, chances are you'll damage that circuit and end up with a light that turns on/off with the controller vs on/off with the LCD control.

Re: Bluetooth adapter for kelly controllers

Hey Whitehawk, I have one of these Kelly BT modules, I'll try to take the plastic housing off and snap a few pics of the board this weekend.

Not sure about how it communicates or the protocols, but if the board is the exact same maybe the tx and rx is the same as well.

Will post results on Monday

Well, glad to hear you got it sorted.

Did you actually find a fault with the old KEB or what?

Re: kelly controller and a 1600w motor

Hmmm... just looked at the manual.

maybe in reverse mode where it limits to 50% speed???
or maybe it's stuck in economy mode (50% current)???

can you load a pic of the motor?

Re: kelly controller and a 1600w motor

To my knowledge, almost all Kelly controllers need to be programmed after installation. My guess is, the controller is using whatever settings were used the last time it was hooked up. You say you tried all 36 combo's, I'm assuming this is phase and hall combo's. Once you found one that kinda worked...

Re: Hub motor selection guidance: 3kw unbranded vs 5kw QS

LOL, my EEB is already 148lbs with a 20s14p pack, 18" moto wheels, tubes and tires. Probably end up closer to 165lbs once I get my 22s19p pack. If you ain't jumping this bish, get the QS motor, I've pushed over 10k thru mine and with the FF+hubsinks and it hits 60mph with ease. Who did you find to ...

What front forks are you riding on?

DNM USD-8's you can see brake install here -> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=93082&p=1362844#p1362609

I noted the double disc brake. Overall very nice build. :bigthumb:

Re: homemade battery

Almost all lithium-ion Batteries charge from 3.0V(empty) to 4.2V(fully charged). So if you measure the whole pack at 39V it is empty and at 54.6V it is fully charged. Also, I am a bit worried that you might not know what you are doing. I would study lithium batteries a bit more or let someone else ...

Re: eBike kit controller technical questions

So finally, here are my questions… 1. Is what I want to do possible? Just change the PAS-1 setting to less power/slower speed. Yes, sort of.... access the Parameter settings, go to P12 (PAS Strength), change to 1, exit the settings menu, then try riding it again with PAS on 1, see if the speed and ...

Re: Input needed... 30mph cruise and 40-45mph top speed ebike

Sounds to me like the easiest option here is to double or triple the amount of 36v packs, series them to 72v, buy a cheap 48v-72v 1500w (somewhere around 600rpm) hub motor already laced, get a 72v 2-3000w controller, and you'll get that max of 45 and be able to cruise at 30ish. I did this very same ...

Thanks for the input everybody- really helps frame my thinking. So I guess I'm leaning toward the QS option now. Future proofing is never a bad idea. :bigthumb: Next question would be whether I should use 17" or 19" rims. I'm fully aware of the torque vs speed tradeoffs, but considering the outer d...

Hi guys, My EEB about 120lbs with a QS205 on a 19" rim + 5.6kgs of apt AE96600 controller and 100v @20.8ah. Weight is realistically not a factor on EEBs as you're never going to make a lightweight bike. Ahh, yes. Someone is speaking my language. I don't think anyone bought and built up an EEB frame...

Re: Hub motor selection guidance: 3kw unbranded vs 5kw QS

10lbs more is alot when the bike is already 70lbs. I actually anticipate that my final build will weigh in at over 100 lbs since I'm using an EEB frame and looking to incorporate the largest battery that will physically fit (upwards of 20s10p). Yes, voltage diminishes at a standstill. Now, i get nothing at all when hooked up properly. So, after that ride when it turned itself off, you still haven't even got it to turn on again? I'd bypass the key (making sure its fused) and disconnect the B+ wire going to the LED voltage indicator. What h...

Thanks for some insights. If it were sagging past LVC, would it come right back on once it is charged back up? Re: Sound system--how much power?

While this isn't a 500w system with a sub. It does crank out enough sound while doing 45 to compete with the constant hum of my super soft Vee tires and the sound of air whooshing by my ears. I'm already pulling between 50-120 amps (Qs205) off the battery as it is. I wanted something a bit more stan...

Re: Running Tail and Front Lights From Controller Help!

Wow, great finds! I obviously wasn’t looking hard enough. I think I’ll go for the second one because it has two USB and it’s cheaper. I’d maybe fit it in some plastic case or find one for sale with an acrylic case. My only worry is that at full charge my battery would damage it at 84V but it might ...
