Re: Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

All wired up and successfully got controller fired up and Android app connected via Bluetooth. So far managed to complete the Angle Identification process with the QS motor which all went through fine without any errors. Tomorrow will test throttle inputs - wheel is mounted on a test jig as not fitt...

Re: Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

I was wrong - just checked the plugs and individual wiring and it looks like mine is the latest controller as I do indeed have a pin 22 blue wire! Good job I hadn’t started wiring up the other end of the plug today :-) So it’s pin 6 I need to use as the GND for the contactor relay/solenoid. Many tha...

Re: Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

I got my controller in early May 2019 so am assuming it predates this version. That said in v1.10 of the controller documentation I’ve been using to date does say that all RTN pins are internally connected so I suspect they’ve just dropped pin 9 as the relay RTN. They still show the contactor being ...

Re: Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

Thanks for all the feedback/comments so far on the thread here. Having looked again, and taken some advice outside of the forum here, I believe my best option is to let the controller do the switching of the contactor, rather than do this with a separate circuit/switch. I want to use the contactor I...

Re: Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

Thanks 2WheelsMovesTheSoul for the additional input - very helpful. I wasn’t planning on using the 12v pin out from the controller itself (pin 11) as I do have a 72v to 12v convertor. Keeping the bike’s 12v battery was more of a failsafe but I agree it’s additional weight that I can probably do with...

Re: Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

Many thanks T.C. for the quick reply - I’ve been searching this forum and internet for days and clearly missed the post here you pointed me at! I think I’ve got it all worked out now - I will use the 72v I’m feeding to the pre charge resistor across the contactor also to pin 7 on the controller with...

Re: Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

Thanks for the reply - the resolution of the image is a bit low so not that easy to see the wiring - you don’t have a higher res image do you? I’ve also looked again and I’m going to wire the contactor into the 12v bike circuit as it won’t cope with 72v operating the solenoid. Also I want to provide...

Kelly KLS-H Controller Wiring Query

Just in the process of wiring up my KLS-7275H controller with QSMotor hub motor for an electric motorbike conversion. I’m using a contactor (Tyco Kilovac EV200AAANA) and had planned to control this with the 12v circuit from the bike (which I’m retaining along with a small 12v battery to drive lights...

Re: Kawasaki Z125 build

Congrats on a great build. I’m just about to use the same KLS7275H controller and QS hub motor for a conversion of an Aprilia RS50. Motor is only 4Kw to keep equivalent 50cc power rating for the bike. Any chance you could share/post your controller settings? I’m using the Android app via Bluetooth o...

Zivan NG3 2.4Kw Charger [SOLD]

Now sold. Used but in working condition and recently tested. Bought for an electric motorbike conversion project that I’ve had a change of plan on, and so am now selling the Turnigy packs (16x - see separate listing at £150) together with this charger that I’d bought for charging the packs. Looking ...

Re: QSMotor 4000W V3 17” Hub Motor Aprilia RS50 Conversion

The build has finally begun after collecting all the parts together. First off I got a battery box fabricated to hold the LIPO packs (16 packs, giving a 20s4p configuration). https://i.ibb.co/Gsd1C73/679-BE6-C5-9-E4-E-4-EE8-811-B-C5961-BB3066-E.jpg It’s a bit of tight fit but there’s sufficient spac...

Re: Aprilia RS50 with 4kW QS-motor 17" rim

Thanks for the info. I think I’m going to go 120/80 17 as this looks closest to the original Aprilia in terms of fitting in swingarm plus my QSMotor rim width is only 3.5” I am struggling a bit finding a local MC tyre shop who will fit for me given the fixed axle on the hub motor wheel.I can have a ...

Edit: I can also source a 120/80 tyre which I think will be closer still to the original Aprilia rear wheel/tyre.

Still be good to know what tyre you used here.

Many thanks

Re: Aprilia RS50 with 4kW QS-motor 17" rim

Hi Manny I’m just looking at getting a tyre fitted to my QSMotor 17” rear wheel/hub motor and I’ve discovered that 120/70 r17 tyres are really just spec’d for front fittment now only. This gives me an issue with insurance in the UK market if I fit this to a rear wheel. Can I ask - did you manage to ...

Motor and controller turned up at the end of last week. I must say I was very impressed with the whole experience dealing with QS Motor (Robert Chen) and the great packaging. Everything looks good quality as I took it out of the boxes. https://i.ibb.co/2yNvsSz/9-E863-BDF-0230-4510-BE26-D68-C876-EC07...

Re: QSMotor 4000W V3 17” Hub Motor Aprilia RS50 Conversion

I’ve decided to build the Aprilia up first using some small LiPo packs that whilst they will only give me a small range it will be enough to get the bike up and running and the registration changes made. I can then also better see what the Amp draw is on the battery pack for the speeds I’m designing...

Re: QSMotor 4000W V3 17” Hub Motor Aprilia RS50 Conversion

Thanks for the heads up on the Samsung 30Q cells - I’ve looked into these more and I can see how they aren’t great at holding charge if you zap them at much more than 2C. I’m really struggling here to find something that is relative safe (not Lipo), close to being reasonable cost (not Graphene) and ...

If you are still looking I have a CA v3. Bought it in 2016 for a project bike that was built up and then mothballed after approx 3 installation miles. Haven’t updated firmware and fired bike up last week and working fine. I’m based in U.K. but can ship. Price is Euro 80. We can discuss shipping cost...

Ok but can you help me understand what it is with the spec given the cells are 10c and it’s been tested at 60a continuous for 20mins without any sag? Also the BMS in the module is just for balancing on charging so I can use my own BMS or rely on the controller to limit voltage and display etc to mon...

Re: QSMotor 4000W V3 17” Hub Motor Aprilia RS50 Conversion

I’ve gone back to look at the Valence Power u-Charge pack. These are LifePO4 cells with each module made up of 144 cells. I can source 2 modules that are 38.4v/30AH each which in series would give me 76.8v / 30AH. The vendor tells me that the cells are rated at 10C and they have run a 20 minute test...
