Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Haven’t had time today to update controller settings but I did get to take the second controller apart. It’s definitely a 72v controller with 100v caps so shouldn’t be any issues running at higher voltage. https://i.ibb.co/bPf14S6/290-BFBF7-6053-4644-BA18-E07-C9-B7-DADA7.jpg https://i.ibb.co/3CrcP3x...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

SUCCESS! Well in so far as I have just got the LBMC GUI software to talk to the controller and read the settings. I want to wait until my second controller arrives before I make changes and write anything back! Here’s what I used : Windows 10 Version 4.0.0-202 of LBMC gui software (only version that...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Just found this .... http://www.härdin.se/blog/2019/08/04/lifan-e3-teardown/ http://www.härdin.se/blog/2019/08/04/lifan-e3-teardown/ Looks to be same controller as on the Quazzar - if so then it is a Lingbo LBM and the GUI software (which looks same as used for Magic Pie) should work. My ...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Not sure it matches any of them - but the pdf link does look close! I did a bit more digging and found the type approval documents for the Ecobit scooter range including the Quazzar (which is model number ZM-EV03). There are some reference in those documents to the controller but the code for this j...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Not sure that will work. I’ve programmed Kelly controllers with their own app on Android but that’s pretty unique to their controllers in how they communicate to the control unit in the controller itself. Also the Bluetooth module they use is generic but the way the app communicates through it to th...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

I like the colour scheme! I managed to get a couple of black side panels and leg shield cheap so going for all black on mine. I didn’t get chance to try the brake/throttle trick today but did spot that there’s a USB cable fitted to the controller that looks like it’s a programming cable. https://i.i...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Also meant to say the kill switch on mine seems to vary speed - almost like it’s a two speed switch going into the controller. Haven’t actually measured what the lower setting is though in MPH / have you tried changing that on yours?

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

I was going to try if there’s any way to derestrict top speed in the controller. Can’t see any obvious derestrict wires to cut/plug in as there are on some ebike controllers to limit speed. Next step I was going to try is the method Super Soco/Cineco (City Slicker) use on their bikes - hold right br...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Just replied to your PM. I’ve not got round to fitting the Sabvoton 72150 I’ve bought for this yet. I’ve also got another spare original controller on its way which I’m waiting to arrive before I try putting 72v through the original set up. I think it should be capable of 45-50mph with the Sabvoton ...

Re: Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Thanks guys - I’ve got a controller on order. Reckoned I could use that new 72v capable controller for both packs given it’s programmable and I can switch settings for LVC phase amps etc. Still be good to know if anyone recognises the controller in this model - there are quite a few in the U.K. as t...

Chinese Retro Scooter - Running at 72v versus 60v

Just managed to pick up this Quazzar e-divine retro scooter for cheap without battery pack. I believe it was manufactured by Ecobit back in 2015 and looks identical to any number of retro Vespa inspired scooter that have been around a number of years. https://i.ibb.co/Qjxp8Wv/EAA1-F248-89-F3-4-CC4-8...

Re: Changed something - less power!

Just found your post here and following with interest. Recently acquired one of these Quazzar scooters - believed to be ex Pizza Express local delivery bikes used in U.K. Did you get your controller settings sorted in the end? I’m planning on running 72v pack on mine but haven’t taken existing contr...

Re: Crystalyte TC3080 - controller options?

Had to buy another programming cable but just finished tweaking the settings ... I’m running 72v and have increased the battery amps to equivalent of 80A (it’s an EM3EV 12 FET controller so actual settings in the app are 50% of this so 40A) and phase amps to 180A equivalent. Set the 3 speed switch t...

Re: Yamasaki YM50-RE Build

Awesome work on the conversion and congratulations on getting it all certified. The bike looks great! Was very impressed with the brackets you’re using to mount the hub motor. I recently converted an 1989 Yamaha FZR250 and ended up cutting the slots in the swingarm to make dropouts and used solid a...

Re: Yamasaki YM50-RE Build

Final stage of the process is complete .... the registration changes from petrol to electric were completed yesterday by the DVLA here in the UK. Process went without a hitch - they accepted the paper work and V5 changes I sent through , no need for an inspection. https://i.ibb.co/zX93xZC/9679722-F-...

Re: Yamasaki YM50-RE Build

Yes you’re right - hub motor much easier. I think if I was building another I fancy keeping rear wheel/brake set up as-is and challenging myself with engineering the motor mount. Would need to be a large-ish bike like the Yamasaki to leave enough room for batteries. I remember I did look at the Skyt...

Re: Yamasaki YM50-RE Build

DVLA were quite helpful - I managed to speak to someone there when they weren’t accepting any paperwork due to Covid 19 and got them to record the fact they’d told me it was OK to ride still post conversion as it was MOT’d, taxed and insured. Looking at the frame, to be honest the Yamasaki was much ...

Re: Crystalyte TC3080 - controller options?

OK - I wired throttle straight to controller bypassing the CA V3 and performance is improved but still not great. I’ve damaged my cable for programming controller so waiting for another to arrive in the post. In the meantime are there are thoughts/comments on what other controller I could use that w...

Re: Yamasaki YM50-RE Build

Hi, did you get to road test the bike in the end. Really impressed by the project and curious how it worked out. Could you explain why the rs50 swing arm did not work, surely all these bikes have the same width axle space Yes managed to get it out for a couple of road tests now. Performance is grea...

Crystalyte TC3080 - controller options?

Hi I’ve got an Enduro ebike frame that I’ve been updating over the last couple of years. It’s now based around a Crystalyte TC3080 hub laced into a 24” rim. https://i.ibb.co/DVkPDWv/39-C8-B9-B9-86-C7-48-CE-8-ACF-79-D1-FA2-CF760.jpg I’ve just had to replace the battery which is now 20s7p 72v pack cap...

Re: Chinese eMoto Upgrade feasible?

I went through the same dilemma and calculations. Ended up buying a road registered bike in the UK and converting it myself using QSMotor 4Kw hub and Kelly controller. Invested in a decent battery (72V 40Ah capable of 150A bursts using Samsung 40T cells). All in with shipping for motor and controlle...

Re: Honda MT50 road legal conversion

Many thanks Spata. Yes I’ve read your post about the changes to the V5 so hopefully should be ok.

I’ve got a couple of quotes for insurance - looks like Adrian Flux are doing it now and I’ve had a couple of kit cars insured with them.

Will let you know how I get on and thanks again.

Re: Honda MT50 road legal conversion

Hi Spata I know this is an old thread but wanted to ask when you sent your V5 back to the DVLA did you just send it to normal DVLA address or the ‘K and R’ department (Kits and Rebuilds)? I’ve built a number of kit cars over the years and you have to send specific modifications forms for those to K ...

Re: Yamasaki YM50-RE Build

Managed to sort this - although I had changed the poles setting in the Kelly app for some reason it wasn’t writing the update back to the controller. Sorted now and max RPM unloaded on a paddock stand in the garage is around 1150 which is about right for max of the 4Kw motor with the battery and con...
