Re: Frames from alibaba?

If you take the money out of your lottery tickets budget, I’d say chances are better. Buying from Alibaba or Aliexpress, insist on making payment with a credit card that has online purchase protection insurance. Paypal is not bad, but credit cards are much faster to solve a situation. This simple p...

there is no connection between you laptop and the controller. in the video i see only the tx "led" blinking on the software, and not the rx meaning the software is sending data but not getting a response. to find the correct serial port. open the device Manager on the laptop, open the tab ports(com...

Re: Help setting up Sabvoton and QS-205

I’m 99% certain it’s due to your ignition wire. If you don’t power cycle via the ignition wire, the parameters won’t save (stupid, I know). I learned this the hard way also. Makes sense in hindsight. If power is not connected to controller, how is it going to power the save on the logic side? We ne...

I’m 99% certain it’s due to your ignition wire. If you don’t power cycle via the ignition wire, the parameters won’t save (stupid, I know). I’m currently working on a third-party communication tool for Sabvoton/MQCON controllers. Hopefully it’ll help you and many others (including myself) in the sam...

Saturday, Dec. 9 notes – Bluetooth serial board arrives in the mail today. Looking forward to soldering it up to the Sabvoton’s communication USB directly and enjoying cheap, DIY reliable communication with the controller. As this is an open source project, the guide and plans for creating your own ...

Re: So confused, please help (24s 99.6V battery charging/safety)

My two cents. Nothing really wrong with the existing charging methods, provided the meanwells are set to the right voltage. (not overcharging) You might consider tuning them to very slightly undercharge the pack, if your needs don't require the entire capacity very often. Using those 4s balance plu...

I’m pretty certain I’ll be using the cross-platform Mono framework to send/receive bytes through serial. This will ensure multi-platform functionality and should provide a rock solid assisted command line base for the beta version.

Re: So confused, please help (24s 99.6V battery charging/safety)

You can also charge/balance with rc chargers. Very easy and safe. I thought about that, but the way the 24s pack is set up, I’d have to plug the entire 24 cells into the RC charger since many (or all of them?) require the +/- of the pack plus the balance JST. Wouldn’t I blow most chargers up by doi...

There's mention of a specific Toshiba ADP-60RH laptop supply in "How To Wire a 12V Brake Light and Turn Signals". Works nice.

At your high voltage, almost any one should work - the problem is usually getting them to start at low voltages (~45V) when they were designed for 110V.
Nice, thanks!

I would put four 6s sense wires for EZ hookup of cell meters or a 6s thru the sense wire charger like a bc168 or ? Get used to checking with the cell monitors and not using more than 15 16 amp your hours as you'll find out in time. Are they 20ah cells ? What controller and motor combo will be using...

Thanks for all your answers, everyone. Very appreciative of this forum and all of you.

I've decided to be a human BMS instead of going the 24S BMS route. The existing BMS's that would fit my application just seem so dodgy.

Hey everybody, I currently have an ebike with two battery packs running in series. One 16S and another 8S, for a total of 24S. The cells are 4.15V EIG 20Ah. There is no BMS installed on these packs. Every four cells has a 4-pin JST connector for balancing purposes. Previous owner of the bike would b...
