Re: ME1616 motor with sevcon gen4 size 6 80V low power??
To get around the field weakening issue you can remain within its optimum RPM (about 3800rpm) and gear it appropriately based on the RPM for the speeds you want to achieve.

Re: EKartGo Project
Spot welding... been there, tried that. MAYBE that is possible with a high power spot welder, but defiantly not with a KWeld (it will just timeout at 200ms). The thick copper bus bar absorbs the heat energy too quickly. Also using a MOT solder station does not work well. For me that was because of ...

Re: EKartGo Project
I wonder if rather than using solder which can be time-consuming, opposed spot welding could be another choice? Copper sandwiched between nickel could potentially work, as I know that spot welding copper to nickel alone is difficult to get right even with specialist equipment. I'll do an experiment ...

Re: Drive Sprockets
Hello, We are currently building an electronic speedway bike but have hit a slight snag with the drive sprocket. Our rear sprockets can be 428 chain or 520 chain and we can't seem to find a sprocket in either 428 or 520 that will fit the motor. It is 19mm with a 6mm keyway. Does anyone know where w...

Hello Hallkbrdz,
The pack has been retired in favor of a custom 18650 pack which is being UN38.3 tested, I'll update you guys with an update as quite a few things have changed as it's now a commercial venture, still want to share the knowledge and experience I've gained over the last 12 months!

Just purchased some to try out, they fit together brilliantly, come with little tools to help you assemble and disassemble the pack so you don't cut your fingers to shreds, will let you know how pack building goes.

You should consider yourself fortunate that you got such an honest reply, and not just a bunch of forged “cut...

Re: HobbyKing unable to provide UN38.3 and MSDS
Well, this has been an enlightening journey for me. I've passed the information onto the relevant regulatory agencies as it's a public safety risk, especially if those shipments are incorrectly put onto passenger flights. They'll most likely disappear and reappear as another name.

Re: HobbyKing unable to provide UN38.3 and MSDS
Remember, there's a lot of these battery companies literally selling recycled garbage to their customers, so you can't really think they care about anything beyond money? If someone comes after them they probably just intend to disappear and crop up under some new name. (IIRC BMSBattery has already...

I wanted to send along some unused batteries under IATA PI965 Section IA and requested a UN38.3 certificate and MSDS for one of their LiPO products and I got the below response... how exactly are they shipping goods around without those two things?

Very nice Nuxland! Looks like those LiPO's are doing the job nicely, 8kg lighter, 5AH more, while pushing out more amps.
Did you measure any temperatures?

...the added risks of compression joint resistance I do get your point but is it not a bit overrated? I mean there are people (e.g. Shawn McCarty with batteryblocs) who have been using magnets and compression for years without issues apparently. Also we're all using XT90-like connectors to connect/...

Re: Li-ion cells cycle ageing
Thank you for performing this tests!! There are interesting statistics about these cells. The Sony VTC6 will have reached the 700 cycles soon. The other cells soon after. What cells are you going to test after? That is actually a very good question :) I've always been intrigued about RC LiPO cycle ...
