Re: Couldn't get motor to run at no-load current

I just didn't connect the motor's sensors wires to the controllers, isn't that how you know? A controller will certainly use sensorless mode when self learning takes place with no sensors wired up. But if it sees erratic and unusable sensor input from damaged or miss-wired sensors, won't it automat...

Re: Couldn't get motor to run at no-load current

Seems that the sensors are cycling properly (on/off), except for the 2 stage (low beam-high beam) operation on 'A'. But the number of the stages, and the sequencing doesn't seem to fit what I would expect. IE: With the all off lighting stage, would seem to fit a 60 degree operation. But the numbers ...

Re: Controller Throttle Settings

Hi MartynB85, There seems to be a delay from when I open the throttle to when power is applied. Is this referring to quickly opening the throttle to wide open and having the controller slow to respond? Or is it... there is a dead band at the beginning of the throttle stroke. That requires some movem...

Re: Min Voltage for Throttle Output of Cycle Analyst 2.3

Just verifying which wiring set-up your using... the "splitter" type with the resistor and diode(page 14) or the connection to the "pot" terminal? (page 20)

Re: Battery Disconnect method.

Also just to clarify on the Solid state skate board option, When they fail how do they fail? Just stuck closed? If you mean a SSR like the luna offering referenced. I've just had the one for over 2 years that has worked perfectly on a 52vdc nominal system with no failure. So no experience there. Bu...

Re: Motor running backwards

That's an interesting question... can you identify a particular hall sensor to mate with a particular phase. Or more like determining which hall order matches the phase order to verify the color codes...? I would think that if both your wire colors are switched the same on both the halls and phases....

If your sure you have the correct combination, except in reverse. It seems pretty straight forward on how to change the direction...

See lower right blue box for how to change direction.

Re: 0% to 100% proportional regen with separate throttle

Thanks for the heads up! I took it all the way to the handlebar hitting the inside of the grip end. And then set the throttle position. But never thought about a direct hit to the end. I'll give it a whack on the end with a rubber mallet and see. Perhaps a spacer between the two will be needed, butt...

Re: 0% to 100% proportional regen with separate throttle

TC, What did you use to glue that stub end back on the bar? Hi John, To make up the difference of the slightly larger ID of the cut off throttle handle, I just nicely wrapped electrical black tape in two places with enough layers to have it fit VERY snuggly (much like a left grip...) The downside i...

Re: Why cant i get a voltage reading from my charger?

As stated above some chargers need a load to give you a charge voltage. If you really want to know what your charger is doing, get a watt meter and put it between your battery and charger. It will let you know what is going on. :D :bolt: An example... https://i.imgur.com/jwdzURh.jpg See it built he...

Reading John in CR's posts was like deja vu all over again. :) I thought after riding motorcycles that a full twist throttle was surely the way to go. But had issues with the throttle bouncing all over the place on rough terrain. As well as not being able to get comfortable, and relax with my hand o...

Re: Throttle restrictor

Another way to do the same thing is to put a resistor in series with the 5v line going to the throttle. Resistor would be much lower value, like maybe 500 ohms in this case. When I say resistor, it could be a pot so you can adjust it. I would recommend putting the resistance in series with the 5vdc...

Did you check the phase wires, and verify the motor's hall sensor(s) operation?

Perhaps you'll find this chart a bit easier...

Re: Blown halls

With the motor out of the wheel assembly, just use a magnet at the sensors face to switch the output(s) on and off. (5vdc-0vdc) The key is... one polarity turns it on (one end/side of the magnet. And the opposite polarity (other end/side) turns it off. I'd also provide my own power and not use the c...

A hall stuck at 5vdc would indicate a bad sensor, or loss of ground. Couldn't hurt to verify having a proper ground from sensor to connector, checking wire and connections. Then thru connector back to controller... EDIT: Just saw your interior motor pictures. I'd sure be interested if there is somet...

Re: Electronic clutch / inverted hall signal - assistance required

Hi bikerpete, I agree that the potentiometer route would be the easiest to implement, and was thinking how you might mechanically make it happen. This video that a poster I was working with had a neat homemade solution... just replace the throttle cable with a clutch lever cable. https://youtu.be/mC...
