Re: Mongoose/ Dyno CX24 200 Build

I picked up a 2002 Marzocchi bomber double crown off Ebay for this build.
They look to be in good shape but are leaking oil.
How hard is it to replace seals/ oil on a set of forks?
Or should I take it to a shop.

Re: Resting voltage for LifePo4

Hello, Just wondering if is normal for the Battery after it get fully charged to 3.6V to drop down to about 3.3V 3.35V in about 1 hour. the battery charged to full capacity according to the charger just over 17,000mah As I do have some smaller Lifepo4 that hold the voltage much better. Thanks. That...

Aussie here 8)

I'd try to park in the shade where possible. I wouldn't leave my ebike in full sun all day on a scorcher. An hour or two shouldn't hurt though

Ebike battery charging with 900 watt boost module

Hey guys,

I made a quick vid showing how I'm currently charging my 52v ebikes using a 12v charger and 900 watt boost module.

Re: Milwaukee battery out of balance

The next battery is probably more of a challenge, there is one group at 4.10v and the remaining 4 groups at 3.6v.
I'll probably drain the higher group with this one.

Re: Milwaukee battery out of balance

Ok I've charged the 2 low cell groups.
Cells back in the case and all 4 leds are lighting up now.
I'll keep an eye on it for the next cycle then check voltages.
I was tempted to solder on balance wires but I'll wait and see how it goes first

Milwaukee battery out of balance

I have a couple of Milwaukee 9ah batteries that have become unbalanced. 3 x cell groups are at 4.08v 1 x cell group is at 3.60v 1 x cell group is at 3.25v Three leds out of 4 light up on the battery. It still works fine on the tool and in the charger it shows green light for fully charged. I am atte...

Re: Mongoose/ Dyno CX24 200 Build

Another quick update on this build.

Still some work to do to tidy up wiring but the bike is going great!
It's funny when out riding it, people aren't sure what it is..it looks like a motorcycle but has pedals and makes no noise. You get some funny looks 😄

Those are interesting...

In the specifications, it says it's rated for 32A. That would just melt on my bike but might be OK for a smaller motor.
They are great little connectors but yeah just for lower amp applications

Thanks for the responses! I had wanted to keep the ring terminals because they were well done but, as I'm a bit tight for space I may snip them off. Phase wire connector options.

I'm wondering what you guys use to connect phase wires. On my lightning rods small block motor and controller, there are ring terminals. At the moment I just have them connected and covered with electrical tape. I have seen some images of terminal block connectors but can't find a source for them. W...

That's a classic - I didn't know they were rebranded here in oz. Awesome work. Be careful of those white BMS units - I don't think they balance. Might pay to check the difference voltages from time to time. Cheers mate! Thanks for that. It's a great little bike for a conversion! I look forward to g...

Re: Mongoose/ Dyno CX24 200 Build

It should do the job, the 48v will have some head room so your 52v pack shouldnt be an issue. You will need resistor going between the two large lugs (battery terminals) and a diode across the switching poles (the two small posts) On mine im using a 10k resistor and a 200v 3amp diode. Thanks for that

Can you replace cells without the bms/hardware/ bricking?
I'm not sure. I don't have any Bosch tools, I'm just stripping them for the cells.

Re: Seeing more 20700s in power tool batteries

The cells are unwrapped Sanyo NCR20700A It appears the spot welding may have failed on some of the cells causing the battery to become unbalanced. Some of the spot welds were really welded others were almost just sitting on the surface of the cell. ( see photos) At least they have pos ring insulator...

Charge them slowly at around 200 - 500 mv and in a safe place to say 4 volts.
I assume you intended to say 200-500 mA ...not mv ?

Re: Samsung cells with a catch!

I would definitely test them! Charge them slowly at around 200 - 500 mA and in a safe place to say 4 volts. Then leave them for 10 days or so and see if voltage drops, if they don't drop too much, I'd capacity test them at 1 amp per cell. If similar to stated capacity then cycle them a few times, if...

Re: Mongoose/ Dyno CX24 200 Build

I finally got this bike going yesterday 😁

So far it's going well and I'm quite impressed with the way the small block motor performs, also with the 14s 50 25r pack.
It's a pretty quick little bike now.

I need an on/off switch that is capable of 52v 40 -50 Amps, any suggestions??
