Re: Given up searching online for A2B metro secondary rear battery

~~~
These guys still appear to offer a cell replacement/re-pack for the A2B front & rear packs - if you have the original casing etc.
Look forward to hearing of your developments etc.
Thanx.
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Cheers: I’m in Redwoodcity but both my parents are from Aus. Sidney (Dad) Pamarada (Mom) So it sounds like my best thing to do is go with a aftermarket controller & wheel. I’m in need of some Help! Fletcher can you help me ? I could drop off the bike and pay you for your time and labor parts and wh...
Haha! G'day Mate! We got there finally!
Yep.. that is a bit steep (the price, not the hill).
Thanks for the pix.. I'm in Melbs, so your bits are hiding in Syd - in case I ever need any?
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Quick note: Maybe your frustration is confusing you? I am in Australia, yes - but 'Gwest' OP who requires parts, appears to be in RedWoodCity? Do you mean A2B also altered the 'Metro' frame config in order to fit their Gen 2 controller? I have never seen one in the flesh, but assumed that it fairly ...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Thanks for your update.. I didn't know that!
Sounds a bit too 'smart' for it's own good really!
Maybe a Mercury Switch, getting 'shaken' not 'tipped'? ;)
All the more reason for OP to consider a generic Controller?
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Fair price on the Gen 2 wheel etc. On the rear rack frame might be a good place to mount a generic controller. Then a standard Metro slide-on 2nd rear battery could also go underneath later if required? So the Gen 2 doesn't like bumps in the road! Strange.. was that an isolated case or do they all a...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Actually, in your position, I would have to broaden the options to incude a third: OR #3). Gen 1 or Gen 2 motor with external generic controller. It would also depend upon more details of 'fechters' unfavourable reports regarding the Gen 2 controller. As far as I know, there is no difference in powe...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Switch Module sounds 'OK' - apart from it's fused 'A' relay contacts So problem could be either in motor or controller.. which is perhaps a fair reason to attempt to strip it down and check it out anyway? Personally I have never come into close contact with the Gen 2 in-frame controller model and do...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
No worries.. then it's only a wheel swap you'd need to do. ~ Sounds like 'fechter' may have a wheel in his garage? Or is it a non-in-hub-controller model? 'New' is less likely than 2nd hand, obviously ~ but I'll certainly keep my eyes & ears open for you anyway. In the meantime, you may now have lit...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Yes, unfortunately sounds like a possible direct short-circuit in the controller/motor is what caused the 'A' relay contacts to fuse together in the first place?
Go the replacement orig rear wheel assy if poss! ;)
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Cool.. sounds like you are eliminating potential glitches OK now! I guess once the battery is back in, just check again for switch to relay 'A' clicking noise etc. If throttle does still not turn the wheel, suggest feeding 36v (x3 12v car batteries in series for example?) direct to hub motor connect...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
PS. No reset button as far as I know. You are probably quite correct - as is usual! :) - I only took a quick look at my original dead frame batt/BMS before replacing the whole lot with Lipo packs & external 'smart' charger/balancer etc. However, this is the 'button' I alluded to: A2B BMS Board.JPG D...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
I need to test the Key Switch and the Brake switches next. Question If I need a new key switch for this bike where can I get one? Thanks Well done so far! :) The round 4-pin connector is your throttle feed to the in-hub controller. Hopefully cleaning/tweaking switches/connectors etc works for you. ...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Position 'B' on the frame switch key is for activating an auxilliary rear battery pack only. You may need long nose pliers to extract & check the 40A blade fuse on the relay board. If all connections etc appear good, I would next suspect the BMS board - there may also be a 'reset' button there, I ca...
Re: First E bike A2B need help.
Thanks for the Reply: What would be your recommendation first steps in trouble shooting. As you are new to messing around with E-bikes, simplicity is best! ;) 1). Charge battery and see if it holds a charge OK. 2). Check tighness & fit of main power connections to motor. These are 'bullet' type con...
Yep! ;/ (@ 'fechter' - your posts/work here have inspired me greatly - thank you!) Luckily my old Metro already came with a factory rear case, which I then 're-packed' with x4 of these - in series/parallel: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/zippy-compact-5800mah-7s-25c-lipo-pack-xt90.html?___store=en_us F...
