Re: Can heating up battery give longer distance?

As others have already mentioned, cooler temps reduce battery performance. I've done some tests on batteries for lights that indicated the energy used to heat the pack (if well insulated, so most the heat goes to the pack and not the environment) would be of net benefit (more energy available from ...

Re: Can heating up battery give longer distance?

I have another idea. How about using the battery to charge it self. So that the cells get heated. So maybe the cells both gets heated during discharge and recharge. And if the battery cells generate heat there might be no need for extra heating element since the cells acts as heating elements. Then ...

Re: Below 0°C and lithium battery charging

Now i notice it says "environment" on the battery:
Charge environment: 0°C~45°C
Discharge environment: -20°C~60°C

I dont say the battery/cells have to be that temperature but the environment.

Re: Can heating up battery give longer distance?

So if its better for the battery and the capacity/distance and everything about it is good then why are we not doing this? Have anyone seen it used on scooters? Lets say you have a battery case with two layers, that must give good insulation and heating element inside the battery, perhaps between th...

Re: Below 0°C and lithium battery charging

I had another idea... How about using the charger as a heating device underneath the seat. So the charger and battery is both under the seat in a somewhat enclosed area so the charger could blow warm air around inside the box. Perhaps there could be a airway below the battery so air could circulate ...

Can heating up battery give longer distance?

It seems the lower the temperature is in a lithium battery the lower the capacity will be. The shorter distance the scooter can go. So if this is the case i was wondering can you use some of the battery charge to heat up the battery so its capacity increases and get more distance? Suppose you charge...

Re: Below 0°C and lithium battery charging

Maybe the 5 heating pads are not bad, one on each side and one on the bottom. How long would it take to heat up a battery that is at -10°C with those heating pads? Even if i have a temperaturesensor inside the battery would it be precise to show the cell core temperatures and not heat up faster. Are...

Below 0°C and lithium battery charging

So it seems lithium batteries or at least some lithium batteries should not be charged below 0°C. Below 0°C have come. I see frozen water outside. So what do people do? And how do you know the temperature of the battery is below/above 0°C? And does the BMS protect the battery from being charged belo...

Re: Reduce noise of fanned charger

Turns out a roll of toilet paper with toilet paper still on it works pretty good when put tight against where the fan is.

I saw a video with something called a duct silencer.
It sort of looks like a big toilet papir roll with insulation on the inside.

Re: DC to DC converter have 3 wires for 48V+

I found this diagram in a service manual.
I guess "60V" could be anything from "36V" to "72V" depending on what battery voltage is used.

Reduce noise of fanned charger

My charger is a aluminium box with a fan inside. Its makes sort of a hollow windy sound. Its not that the sound it particularly loud but since the fan runs 6 hours to charge a battery fully it gets annoying. So how do you people reduce the noise of a fanned charger? I have not heard the fan alone wi...

Re: Connector gets warm during charging

I would prefer keeping it original type.
Maybe its just the quality of the connector that is not so high.

Also i sometimes remove/connect the connect while the power is on.
I dont hear any sparks but i guess maybe that is not so good.

Re: Connector gets warm during charging

I have looked closer inside the connectors where there pins goes into and it seems the connector for 220V AC that goes into the charger is made better then the 48V DC that goes into the battery. The metal inside the 220V AC connector holes touches the pins on each side in the middle. The metal insid...

Connector gets warm during charging

What causes a connector to get warm during charging? When i change my battery the connector from the charger to the battery gets warm. Not much its just a little bit when the charger runs at about 290 watt. I'm guessing it gets hot at the point with most resistance. If i move my hand just a little b...

What is controller "Battery Choose" for?

batterychoose.jpg In a file for my controller it says "Battery Choose" for terminal 15 in the big connector with room for 30 wires. For this thread i just want to talk about how to connect the charger smart, quick and easy. I also want to show other ...

I'm taking about the AC connection between the charger and the socket. Like a 220 volt shuko connector for example. I want to have the charger constantly connected inside the scooter. And hopefully i can charge the battery with the same cable used for discharging. The automatic roll up drum i have s...

Smart, quick and easy ways for connecting charger

I want to hear/see some smart solutions for connecting a electric scooter to a socket for charging outside. So that it is super easy. Maybe a woodruff key would help.
And maybe a nut with like 3 times more area to touch the aluminium.
