If you can get your cell position precision to a high standard, then you could buy this pre- made and use some shears to cut to required shape. Damn! That would be very cool!
I agree. This could be a “game changer” for higher amp applications.

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

This is so cool. That looks like a perfect design for high amp rated projects. I would think this design combined with the Kweld unit would make for a powerful 18650 battery pack.

Orion Jr. BMS installation - Southeastern USA

I need someone with experience in installing the Orion Jr. Battery Management System (BMS). So I purchased the Orion Jr. BMS for my electric go-kart that will be powered by Nissan Leaf modules. I wanted a higher grade BMS capable of the amps my go kart will use (150 amps constant and 300 amps maximu...

Hello Sir. I have some experience with the K-weld spot welder and have built several battery packs using 18650 cells wired to Battery Management Systems. Where are you located? In case I keep the Orion Jr. BMS does anyone have a recommended expert I could hire? I am willing to take my project (ie drive) to a knowledgeable person and pay them to help me but would need someone within a driving distance of Augusta, GA (i.e anyone in South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia)...

Re: Orion Jr. BMS for 48V Electric Go-Kart

You can still back out of Orion and go with something like TinyBMS. TinyBMS can deal with up to 750A using external contactor, and is much simpler to setup. Way cheaper too :D https://www.energusps.com/shop/product/tiny-bms-s516-150a-750a-36 Thanks for the reply. Am I reading the specs correctly in...

Thanks for the response. I have the 58 Ah Leaf modules but the charge rate would still be only 1/3 C ... (18A divided by 58 Ah = .3) so it sound like I am all set. I purchased the modules from EVBatteryCenter using the following link. Great vendor with excellent customer support..... :D https://evba...

Nissan Leaf Modules - How fast is "too fast" for charging?

Hello. I will be using 7 Leaf modules connected in series to power my electric go kart (54 V nominal/58.8V maximum). I am considering the following "constant currrent/constant voltage" charger but it charges at 18 amps. https://evbatterycenter.com/HAC4/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task...

Re: Orion Jr. BMS for 48V Electric Go-Kart

If the problem with cheaper BMS is that they won't handle the output current needed, you could use the gate drive for the insufficient output FET stage to instead drive a bit of electronics (transistor relay driver, etc) that turns a contactor on and off. Much cheaper than the Orion system. Thanks....

Orion Jr is great BMS, especially combo with high power TC Elcon chargers. Go for can bus version.
Will do. I really appreciate the advice. I will research it tonight.
