Thanks Chalo, very thorough.
I'm sure I typed 11, I wouldn't have typed 'an 13'.

Re: Can someone explain these things?

Hi DNP is a freewheel manufacturer (no idea what it stands for) and the only freewheel available with an 13 tooth cog. Freehub is the modern equivalent of the old freewheel. Instead of threading onto your hub they have locating splines. It's actually a shimano product, but an industry standard. So t...

Re: Why do Fat-tires have higher rolling resistance?

Steady state?? Are we talking scientific lab tests, or reality? Steady state, you want a track bike, on the velodrome, wearing lycr... I said that so we can neglect the rotational mass differences: I wanted to focus on the differences when you ride at constant speed. When you also talk about accele...

Re: Why do Fat-tires have higher rolling resistance?

Yeah what Chalo said. Everything has its niche. Fatbike tyres are WAY more efficient in their realm. Road tyres in theirs. Maybe the best way to summarise it is this. The rotational mass that is harder to get going, proves its purpose at the next bump. Its harder to slow down too. Steady state?? Are...

Re: Tire slipping on rim causing valve stem to tear and or flat

Dx32's aren't 'tubeless ready' so you'll have leakage problems. Possibly worse because the seam is pinned instead of welded.

Re: What's the best E-bike bicycle type for touring+camping?

What do you think? Would you go with the Fat-Bike, or the Touring-Bike? Touring frames generally are longer wheelbase, for heavy-loaded stability and pannier/heal clearance, plus they have all the braze-on mounts for racks, bottles, mudguards. You want all these things if you're touring. Lots of to...

Re: Beefing to reduce fork flex

I'm hooked by seeing just the end of the handlebar. Show the full bike. Here she is at 18,000 miles Nice to see a dirty bike. Well used. I'd say the sus fork has thrown out the trail and rake geometry. Hard to tell from a photo but it looks like you trail is zero, but that's without you on it of co...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Yeah fair call, sorry, I want a surron, just sayin as a planet we should focus on not redesigning the wheel.

Losing luna as the US distribution will hurt the US market. A new US distributor won't bring prices down.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I have heard good n bad things about luna. But if you want the surron to survive I'd support them, and buy directly from them. Pay the bit extra. You've got support on home soil.

Let's all stop falling down the cheapest wishing well, it's counter productive.

Perfect. No confusion that way.

BTW, most of America uses dd/mm/yy. The us is alone on this.

Re: Forum styling changes to enhance the look

Did the date format change?

It is now mm/dd/yy which is a very confusing backwards way, only used in the usa. No other country does.

Could we go back to dd/mm/yy?

Fatties are great at low pressure to soak up the bumps, I wouldn't pump them up too much. Go tubeless, low pressure, knock a few k's off your speed, pedal a bit.

Re: Is an e-bike defined as a recreational vehicle?

An ebike could just as easily be called an SUV, and literally more correctly so than the gross over usage of the term by wankers with big cars.

Sport is an activity involving physical exertion.
Utility is something useful
Vehicle, we just covered.

Ebikes are literally SUV's

Re: Is an e-bike defined as a recreational vehicle?

Recreational Vehicle is an unfortunate term. Recreation is something we do for fun, that's not 'work'. Vehicle is something used to transport people or goods. So a recreational vehicle, in its literal meaning, includes ebikes, pushbikes, mx bikes, jetskis, race cars, unicycles, powerboats, hang glid...

Re: Insurance Problems?

Insurance is a scam; cover your own liability and theft. I did marketing communications for an insurance company, reinsurance is quite a gimmick. So my fire coverage is like 0.3% of what building a new house would cost, it would take over 300 years to balance out ... I bet your ' fire coverage' is ...

'real range' will change day-to-day. Depends on sooo many things. Slow down 10mph and you might double your range.... and quadruple your riding time. Re: E-bike Generator Challenge

The limited efficiency is still worth it, in specific applications. Example, pedal your e bike to charge a small house battery, that gives you one light at night, and charges your cell phone or other small battery devices. This works well in the third world , where house power might not exist at al...
