Thanks, bud. I guess I'm buying another cane creek headset. I had hoped differently.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Does anyone know if there is supposed to be an upgraded headset included? I reached out to Luna but that might be a slow process.artisanstone wrote: ↑Sep 11 2020 3:05pmI also am unsure of the claimed headset upgrade. Luna says it has a better one but it feels "clicky" like the old one. Maybe they forgot to send it?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I'm officially in the two Sur-ron club. I have a green one that was in second? shipment a couple years ago, and black x model arrived today. The X definitely has more power. I have a 59 tooth sprocket on green bike, and the x is still more powerful on the low end. Top end, of course, is no compariso...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT
The CRF forks are working great. Most of the theoretical problems with this swap are non-issues in my riding environment. I want a stable motorcycle feel rather than a twitchy mountainbike feel and, not surprisingly, the crf forks provide that. Steep descents are especially more friendly now. The C...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
For anyone who's not seen it, there's a new long Luna interview on Youtube. All about the Sur-ron, future plans, etc. In short they are doing a 30q pack with bac4000. Also will be offering a limited number of belt driven models where they saw the chainstay and bolt it back up to install the belt. A...

I've only disconnected the battery twice. I noticed the main power plug is rather difficult to get off. Would dielectric grease be appropriate?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
You motor heads should look at the data from ASI. It says a lot about the Sur-ron motor. 10 hp is all we are looking at maximum. Yeah, with 20s there is some more power, but 10 hp is all we can expect. Which is double what we get stock. It's interesting to me that the best numbers are at about 2000...

I haven't run the numbers but I assume that's the gear reduction to back sprocket. It would go the other way from sprocket to wheel.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I take the best tool for the job and don't really care what powers it. So yeah, I'll definitely compare ICE to electric directly when I can use either one. Around here you'd be just as legal with a Sur-Ron or motorcycle. The only way electric has more access is if it can pass for a bicycle. A trial...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
OH OK good thing you mentioned that because I will avoid that one if it breaks so easily. I guess the foam will be better than the bash guard pushing into the connectors, but the foam may also limit air flow which the motor needs. I would think a couple of thick bars that run across, keeping it mos...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
The luna stainless one bent the same way on the first hit. I don't know what the solution is. I contemplated a foam pad between guard and motor, using motor as a structural member, but I don't know if that's a good idea.

Actually, one log crossing wiped it out. I don't think I was abusing it. I will probably try to bend it into some kind of shape and take it somewhere local to be reinforced.
