Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Probably out of range for sure. I saw one parked on my road. Very rural.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Anyone here in zip code 28756? If so, I think you're my neighbor. What are the odds of seeing another Sur-ron.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

For anyone who's not seen it, there's a new long Luna interview on Youtube. All about the Sur-ron, future plans, etc. In short they are doing a 30q pack with bac4000. Also will be offering a limited number of belt driven models where they saw the chainstay and bolt it back up to install the belt. A...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I've only disconnected the battery twice. I noticed the main power plug is rather difficult to get off. Would dielectric grease be appropriate?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

You motor heads should look at the data from ASI. It says a lot about the Sur-ron motor. 10 hp is all we are looking at maximum. Yeah, with 20s there is some more power, but 10 hp is all we can expect. Which is double what we get stock. It's interesting to me that the best numbers are at about 2000...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I haven't run the numbers but I assume that's the gear reduction to back sprocket. It would go the other way from sprocket to wheel.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I paid for a bike on November 26thluna order.png I got this email a few hours ago after asking for a month about where is my bike, it hasn't shipped. Gary replied: Hi Kim, unfortunately the shop has declined to fill your order and will be fully refunding instead. You’ll see refund notification emai...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I take the best tool for the job and don't really care what powers it. So yeah, I'll definitely compare ICE to electric directly when I can use either one. Around here you'd be just as legal with a Sur-Ron or motorcycle. The only way electric has more access is if it can pass for a bicycle. A trial...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Any opinions on this setup? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn6KZPyvOZ4 It would be awesome if someone put together a plugnplay version of this. lipos in a surron battery case, fully programmed controller, etc. It looks to me like the right amount of power without going too far. I'm gonna repost th...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Has anyone had this situation with Luna? I ordered a bike almost 4 weeks ago and they haven't shipped it yet. They told me their loading dock was broken down and they could only ship on Fridays. It will be over 4 weeks without shipping the day after Christmas. Does anyone have any data?luna order.p...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

OH OK good thing you mentioned that because I will avoid that one if it breaks so easily. I guess the foam will be better than the bash guard pushing into the connectors, but the foam may also limit air flow which the motor needs. I would think a couple of thick bars that run across, keeping it mos...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The luna stainless one bent the same way on the first hit. I don't know what the solution is. I contemplated a foam pad between guard and motor, using motor as a structural member, but I don't know if that's a good idea.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Actually, one log crossing wiped it out. I don't think I was abusing it. I will probably try to bend it into some kind of shape and take it somewhere local to be reinforced.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I'll try to be more clear about this. I've done mig, tig, and stick processes. I am not a professional, just a hobbyist that spent some time trying to perfect my process. It looks to me like they assigned an employee to weld these who had no experience at all. I think said employee has probably seen...

IMG_0800.JPG This type of bead is referred to as "stitch welding". Its nothing more than tac welds in series. Its desired when joining metal is the goal, but keeping heat temper and reducing warpage to a minimum. Down side is, its not as strong as a flowing bead, and penetration isn't as deep :oops...
