Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Quick questions if anyone can help, I got send the wrong charger, it was US AC input and not AUS. Can I cut the plug and wire it onto this charger? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33054651562.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.380f403f51dRHq&algo_pvid=3690aa82-675a-4762-a170-32805f9a41d9&algo_expid=369...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! NEW FREY EX and FREY CC

I always thought parallel connecting two different batteries is a bad idea but if they only get physically connected when the voltages are equal I guess it it should be do-able. Although their discharge curves will not be the same either. Well, let us know how it goes if you decide to give it a go.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! NEW FREY EX and FREY CC

I'm not sure connecting a 52v and 48v battery at the same time is good for the batteries as at some point you still reach equal voltage and then ... I guess you'd only be able to use the 52v (58.8v charged) battery till it reaches 54v. If they'd place a switch between the internal battery lines you ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! NEW FREY EX and FREY CC

I agree with you about the weight issues you mention, my point of view was personal. E-mtbs are a different workout, as in my case, the electric-assist got rid of pushing uphill. Now I can focus on getting run after run going up the hills 5 times instead of twice improving my riding skills. Sure, yo...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I checked with a square this time (to make sure the ruler markings line up), and it is closer to 28-3/4" at the lowest point. The bike is flat on the ground unloaded. That's just about where you would be if you got off your seat. This is a medium framed X-1. Batboy, I'll try to measure my AM1000 fo...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I have no idea about the costs of things, nor did I expect them to pay the replacement costs fully in my case as in Switzerland the hourly rate is simply too high compared to, for instance, China. So I was happy with my resolution as I got the bike up and running within 3 days. I don't know what els...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Just for your information, i accepted the 130USD hub replacement money in my case, which is far more than the value/actual costs. Then I bought an upgraded DT swiss wheel myself. Going around the warranty process and start replacing your broken parts and then expecting them to pay is not reasonable ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I tried to look for a thread on how I can remedy my hub without buying a new one and found no such thing. Hence I assumed it wasn't too common of a failure or not worthwhile to repair. That thread seems a few years old and gives a possible reason for the failure. Premature failure usually indicates ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

As said before, I had a hub break on me on an earlier model of the am1000 (I believe it had a different hub than the quanta you mention) and FREY was very helpful in resolving the issue after I contacted them with the pictures. I decided also to get refunded for the rear hub and I would buy myself a...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

If you didn't get it with the chainguide then you have to get the holes in there yourself. I did it as well due to too many chaindrops. But what have you been doing to your bike? Looks well used Did you tap and die the holes for the guide? How hard is it to get the motor housing off to do that? (Or...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

54.6 volts output for the said 48v charger, and to be all-inclusive, their 52v charger outputs 58.8v. You can also check the voltage of your battery using the Bafang display. Fully charged it should read 54.6v for a 48v battery. Reasoning: you have 13 cells in series with each a nominal voltage of 3...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

one, the battery lights won't really show you much usefull information. And to get the accurate battery percentage back I've noticed that you have to turn the bike on and off. What you can do is put the settings to voltage, which gives you a real-time value of the voltage that tells you exactly how ...

I know a lot of people who use the AM1000 as a commuter bike. You'd have to search appropriate fenders and such but it is a very smooth ride.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! NEW FREY EX and FREY CC

Thanks for the reply, from my experience, every bike will handle differently and weight is indeed one important aspect. But rock gardens and jumps depend also on geometry and suspension quality. Hence, comparing different bikes is rather difficult, but you gotta outweigh motor power, battery size, a...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! NEW FREY EX and FREY CC

75# is a really heavy bike unfortunately. I was hoping then be more inline with other ebikes around 55 or so. I still never understand why one wants a lighter e-bike. If you want high power, you need a bigger motor, bigger battery, strenghtened rear suspension due to the sideways torque, bigger bra...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I would like to tow a child trailer occasionally, and would buy a other axle for this. This axle has a 1.5 mm thread pitch. I used this bolt on "This is NOT an axle for attaching trailers or trainers" True, the question was about the pitch and the same company sells the correct ones for attaching t...

Can anyone tell me which thread the 12x148 rear axle has? I would like to tow a child trailer occasionally, and would buy a other axle for this. This axle has a 1.5 mm thread pitch. I used this bolt on instead of the quick release: https://robertaxleproject.com/product/lightning-bolt-on-axle-rear-1...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I would save the money and go with the stock Shimano package. then once you receive the bike upgrade it to Rohloff! It was a 248 USD option, fairly cheap if you look how much the set costs here. Isn't the Rohloff crazy expensive compared to that? my am has been running the ex1 groupset fo...

might sound stupid, but does it not do anything in higher assist levels as well? If no, then most likely a cut-off feature that stops the motor from engaging.
