Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

If it's a new bike, you can assume it will be working properly and there's no need to open it up.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Depending on your riding style, a 44t front is very nice for a bit faster cycling and not using the 11t rear cog all the time. You can also ask for a rear suspension bearing kit, I think. After having both an EX1 and XT M8000 cassette am1000 bikes, I must say, I do not think the extra costs outweig...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi, I had an earlier version without a heat sensor and burned a winding. I can tell you, you'll notice that it's burned. This was after heavy abuse of pushing up a friend on a 20% incline in mode 5 for 20 min. Yes, the smell is there, even after you store the bike in your garage and smell the next d...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! NEW FREY EX and FREY CC

Somebody know whats up with Frey customer service. The response is horrible the last month or two. I was very pleased the first month's with the response but now with a almost one year old bike it's really a bad experience:( I don't like to publicly say that because i like them as a company, but it...

I can't afford the Frey1000 with shipping and GST the Ansbern is $2,000 cheaper with very similar components, No one had heard about Frey until people started buying... They have been around longer than Frey bike Just wanted to see if anyone had given it a go? Which components do you get for the ba...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Well, I know for certain my disc brakes look like that due to actual burning. I've seen smoke come off on some extreme downhill segments. But even under these circumstances the braking power was more than adequate, even for such a heavy bike.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi, can you take a picture of how your brake pads look? Furthermore, did you check if the bolts on the discs are tightly secured? Is there any chance some oily substance could have gotten on the pads? Maybe using a spray chain lubricant or other way? If it's related to the discs, what you could try ...

Hi, could be the power cut off from the levers. I don't have a gear sensor and still, this occurs, so I disconnected them to test.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi Flyingfinn, i had the same type of issue in the beginning. What i ended up doing was putting a 4x4cm2 piece of innertyre at the bottom before putting the battery.
And yes, velcro all around is always good.

Cheers

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi, I installed an "internally" routed 170 mm dropper using the hole at the bottom in the seat-tube and from there I went back internally through the frame. (I wish I had bought a vyron dropper - fewer cables) Checking bolts is always important, some might need loc-tight. I'm 177 cm and the drop is ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

True, good to know. And thanks for the quick reply. I had about 1000km on my original Frey wheelset, no bite-in at that point. As an upgrade, I got a set of DT Swiss H 1900 (350 Euro at the time for the whole set), on which I have over 3000km at the moment and no bite-in. I can certainly recommend D...

Dt Swiss 350 aluminium hub vs. steel hub (sold separately) both after 500kms.
Any of these from the original Frey frame? Or how does it compare?

Wow, the Frey seems like a very interesting bike, but this is such a long thread. Is there any summary or synopsis? or a few particular sections to be sure to read? Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Over a time span of 2.5 years, I did 3500 km on my Frey am1000 without any problems and I've been using the same battery on my commuter bike for a year (add an easy 1000 km). Same as Barbarossa, no remorse for the battery, and they still perform adequately. I've had way worse Chinese batteries dying...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi Kson, I've had my am1000 for over 2 years and recently I drove their 2019 bikes but also the EX and I can tell you their controllers have certainly had a good tune. The earlier version was a bit abrupt, but the motor response is, of course in the end, subject to personal taste. The great thing is...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I've encountered hard cut-offs when reaching the controller's LVC, no decrease in power except for the feeling of getting a drained battery. Simply turning it off and on made me continue in a lower power setting.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

You'll need to set the low voltage cut-off accordingly, don't care about the 4 green lights on the battery (decoration), and set the screen to show voltage instead of the percentage. Overall, I'm very happy with 52v (got two batteries). The 52v has less Wh than the 48v. For most people, 48v is perfe...

Attached a video of the 2020 Frey EX bike. It's a fantastic bike to ride. Hi @Hardcore - After viewing a couple videos, I'd say we have similar riding preferences in that I tend to ride singletrack pretty fast and love a little air but generally don't do huge drops (don't mean to imply you don't- j...

Re: Frey CC ordered!

Hi, I've seen Ivy herself ride the CC model and she ain't tall, while I've had a go as well and at 1.78m it was no problem. The handlebars make for an upright riding position even at those reach values. Also, a size doesn't completely determine the fit of a bike and I think the <160 &190< people can...
