Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log
I was hoping the side plate arrived today. I'll be busy all day tomorrow, but I have Friday off. So my plan is to test ride Friday with everything. As far as the A200, I ordered that back in July. At least I got a email saying it's awaiting shipment. So I'll at least get to test the talon prior to t...

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log
I ordered one of the v1.3 ones. Hopefully I'll see it by the end of September. I like that you can change modes on the fly and run fully charged 14s. Plus they have bt modules so you can use Android/apple watches and monitor data real-time. I plan to run it in FOC. So quieter plus with the vesc you ...

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log
I am looking to relocate my controller and am wondering if the standard 8 awg wiring for the kit is suitable for extending the three cables from the motor to the controller or if something more heavy duty is required to handle phase currents as the motor cables are much stiffer due to a heavy copper...

Do you include a grease kit with the initial purchase for the 100m grease swap?

Front is currently 36t but I'm changing to 32t when I get the tangent kit. Rear is 11-42t

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log
So apparently my rear derailleur the
Shimano Saint Shadow Plus, RD-M820
Doesn't fit a 42t cassette. It says maximum 36t.
I tried to install the 42t with the derailleur but it hits the 42t sprocket.
You think 36t is enough torque for big hills? Or should I try another alternative?

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log
Whilst on gearing, I did an excel calc for gearing with the tangent kits I have (screenshot and excel attached). The formulas can easily be changed to suit others if wanted (description of formula at top). I know its not much, but thought some of the newer guys may like it. Of course its only calcu...

I ran Evans waterless coolant in my dirt bike. Race bikes with no fans get hot in Hawaii. Never boiled over again with Evans.

A200s looks evil, but expensive at 400 GBP http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/threads/13927-a200s-esc-based-upon-the-vesc®*-project . It handles up to 16s which would spin a 3220 real quick.. Definitely will keep an eye on the development of that thing, thanks! It does look crazy. I'm on his list for ...

And with Bluetooth modules you can change settings via cellphone. Even monitor stats on iwatch/Android Wear. The current issue with electric skateboard size ESC I think is everyone wants more output but are limited by space. Most boards barely fit 12s5p or less even. So that limits output to 100a is...

What kind of output current for a VESC are you looking for? I've been keeping track of what's currently available and what's coming up.tangentdave wrote: ↑May 10 2018 10:09amStep after that is get the CA off the handlebars (lightly modified VESC?).

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log
Can I get a few recommendations for a DH bike which will fit the motor inside the frame without ("much") modification. I've read through this entire thread a few times but maybe someone would have picked a different bike having had to do it over again. Looking to spend 2-2.5k for a used bi...

It applies to all speeds, not just Max rpmAnimalector wrote: ↑May 03 2018 8:48pmTwice the time isn't really true, how often are you really at max rpm?
All I'm trying to say is taking two batteries and switching from series to parallel should equal the same amount of usage because the packs have the same Wh.

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log
I could choose to run 6S 48AHr, of course at half the power, half the speed but twice the distance? Maybe somebody can tell me if that is correct? I see a previous post from Iroise2000 is running on 7S. Should be more amps to create the same wattage. Your pack will still be the same watthour. So if...

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells
So. If I have .2mm copper strips with the nickel tabs spot welded to it. Could I take a 30mm wide copper strip and fold it to 10mm wide to increase the overall area and amp carrying ability while keeping it less than 18650 width. In the future I'm looking to do a 30q pack in the 8p size or more. But...
