Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Soldering

I am not so sure I "get it" but I bought and assembled the second (black/orange) kit from Mikah to add to the first to extend range etc. I think, the kit is excellent. copper...etc. The first kit I replaced the buss bars with strips of nickel, as I found out they were coated and would not take solde...

Tinfoil or Any Metal for Parallel BussBar?

Does it make any difference what metal is used in parallel connections, considering small voltage?

For example, the series buses being all nickel...can use small copper wire, SS or even tinfoil for the parallel connections on a 36v pack 10s3p???

Sunder, Dig! FWIW, I sent a fellow a lens...he was in Ukraine...address on PP was for New Jersey forwarder who holds and sends large pkgs or multiples overseas, which I did not know. Buyer did not receive. I sent ship-info and track number...and was willing to reimburse and advised. Not heard what h...

Re: Advice!

@ eee... I have acquired items from Japan, Thailand, UK, etc. All were swift transits, save UK and China. All gave worst case scenarios and free shipping, some use "intermediates" or - in county, handlers. The only country with scams was China, who bank on return costs being prohibitive. Being a mas...

Thanks...have similar visions...will likely do as I said, even if it takes long due to slow shipping, and better order before tariffs are imposed.

Re: Nickel Strip vs Solder (Tinned) Woven Copper Busbars

Gee, all that? Seriously, looked over lots of reviews, never read about dents and loose cells...every time I turn around, it is something else, maybe I should get the other ones...no tops etc and just spot-weld... Appreciate it. Might just do different plastic things. I do have a rule..."Simple is b...

Re: Nickel Strip vs Solder (Tinned) Woven Copper Busbars

BTW "flippy," don't pooh-pooh the cellholder/placeholder stuff...has some shortcomings, but with some tweaks, makes building a b-pack simple and, generally speaking, very minimal soldiering. Try one out...later versions... My problem with them was the difference in material components compared to wh...

Re: Nickel Strip vs Solder (Tinned) Woven Copper Busbars

Chalo, I know what you mean...one of the reasons am here fooling with crazy cells etc. Thing ran perfect for 5-10 years...was as simple as can be but loudish and stinky...I could post a pic, I would...it really is a nice bicycle... On topic. Am finally concluding the rig I am building will do fine w...

Re: Nickel Strip vs Solder (Tinned) Woven Copper Busbars

Am new at this and study up first...but search is "iffy." Only using the plastic and inserts of the kit, as I have them and simple. Learning as we go. The kit's bus bars are SS, which I found out later and more or less a waste of time, for me. Why I acquired the copper and nickel material as replace...

Re: Nickel Strip vs Solder Covered Woven Copper Busbars

First, Flippy and Spinning magnets thanks, I have read your input in past and know you know your stuff... Second, what I did was acquire one of those kits from Vruzend, an easy build, with the interlocking plastic ends for the cells (I know squat), then I learned the strips are not nickel but SS, so...

Advice!

Despite what some have writen here I must observe the following: I have acquired two items from China, one via eBay and one via Aliexpress. The eBay item was returned...a scam pure and simple, played upon cost of return...if delivery receipt needed, which without was easily denied. I will refrain fr...

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Soldering

Thanks...Some battery place noted here, these were new, like the green Panisonic NCR PF 2900ah in pics. I think price was close...maybe around 3-$coots shipped. Was more interested in getting clean new items at time...blind buying...the sophistication has widened since, but it's done. Now, awaiting ...

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Soldering

Panasonic PF 2900 ah jobbers...which was recommended here...buying blind, of course. Spendy suckers. Bought some nickel, to replace kit busses and forgot about ss in caps, so that was another mistake...lot of mistakes. High learning curve seems unproductive, but as I said, in for a penny, in for a p...

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Soldering

Why toss the bars? You’re not drawing enough power to have a problem. Sorting out appropriate information here can be befuddling. You have fellas that want to run 60v and 40-50A. You’ve got a little 36v, not needing amps at a rate where V1 kit could be a problem. A n00b giveaway, analysis paralysis...

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Soldering

I figured that out and thanks. Everytime I tried to order the V2 kit I could not do it. Moreover, would like to add extra packet of bussbars... Vruzend.com Email can be imperfect, and the fellas get inundated with email from time to time. Micah and Urvakhsha both respond reasonably efficiently. If ...

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Soldering

Is the V2 you mentioned sounds ideal the buss material. I tried to add solder to the kit stuff and would not take, so checked the specs, which said the buss were SS. Which offers a peek at much of my problems...differences...which I find out later... I have jillions of questions, but look up here an...

Re: DIY assembly kit for 18650 without spot welding/Soldering

A question. (Am anal newbie at this)... Considering "Kirchhoff's Law+...which was explained to me when dirt was made, meant all conductors (wires, bus bars etc) had to be able to carry the same current. I wonder, since I bought the Vruzend kit and am using to build a 10s3p pack for bike...why the SS...

"First Cell Group...?"

I am a ebike "newbie" and have some very basic suppositions but no definitive ideas. One of these is the oft reference, in BMS installs, to a "first battery group." Depending on the BMS, extra wire is attached to "negative of first battery group." Fairly simple...' From that and more, seems first or...

Re: Homemade Battery Packs

Am only a newbie and feel "small" with the wee 10s3p still underway...

Almost went bigger, but decided to do two of these instead of big one, no need speed.

BTW I think the cells are Pan... PFs, still have to assemble the mess, clean off bench first, raining anyway and one thing at a time.

Thirty cells, 3 across...i know basic...but we learn. 10s4p or 10s3p (?) pack...divided in half, if nec, to fit or arranged in some way to fit. As noted, am backing slowly into t...

Re: Homemade Battery Packs

Well the plan is now changed...pack is two rows too long to fit into bag, so will have to redo to fit. Duh on me! We learn...slowly. Being a bit dyslectic makes the going slower, but more than once way to skin this cat! Plus I think snow is finally gone, but one never can be sure.
