Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Anodizing seems AWESOME. But i don't have a workshop like you guys! lol. It really doesn't take much as far as a shop goes. Could probably do it on a stove top - use the stove vent fan to mitigate any fumes. A controllable power supply is best, but you can use low power wall-warts or battery charge...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Generally drop-shippers charge their customers a premium for access to "their" parts, that they don't actually have at all lol. OK, but it's pure speculation on your part if that is what they are actually doing or not, right? You can just go buy the parts for less from a real dealer, but you do as ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

That pop-up site is super shady, it looks like some newbs trying to get ebike money. I bet they got nothing at all in stock - drop shippers for sure. Unless you have first hand knowledge of them ripping people off, I just don't think your assessment is fair. Doesn't look shady to me - other than be...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

any other upgrades i should consider? Paint your footpegs black :thumb: Better yet: anodize them! Just takes a DC power supply, brake cleaner, diluted sulfuric acid, baking soda, aluminum wire, bucket and (liquid) Rit Clothes dye works for the most part. Most people probably have most that stuff ly...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

True; like I said it can be done with most plastics; certainly not all. That said, I don't think styrene/polyethylene parts are very common - especially for motorbike/bike parts. To use the immersed dye method, I would try first letting it soak at room temperature. If it doesn't absorb any ap...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

awsome - gonna try that with PVC. I think you can just dip PVC in the dye for 30-60 minutes - might not even need to boil it. You can also use pipe-cleaner mixed with petroleum dye to stain PVC: https://makezine.com/projects/make-30/stain-pvc-any-color-you-like/ http://makezine.com/wp-content/uploa...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I bet ASI, in general, would sell a lot more controllers if they didn't go with their orange/blue theme. Is the case fairly easy to remove? If so, most thermoplastics can be dyed. Unlike paint, it won't scratch off. To dye plastic, get a pot big enough to contain the part, bring water to a bo...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

also surron wouldn't be what it is today without the investment from Segway (or others) .. Well since Segway didn't invest until 2019 (later in the year IIRC), I don't think we've seen any improvements as a result of that investment - yet . So I think it would be more accurate to say that the Sur R...

Btw guys, I can't stop laughing at these numbers: Segway raised 400k euros in a Light Bee crowdfunding campaign
Actually they raised $1.4 million - the current campaign is a second "bonus" campaign - the initial campaign raised $1m.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Got it from Luna direct. Its under some kind of warranty for sure I'm not saying they won't help you, but as far as I know, they still haven't announced any warranty information for the Sur Ron. Before I purchased one about a year and a half ago, they promised me they would publish warranty informa...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Does it show any errors in display? (the harness is for diagnostic stuff) but AFAIK you can't use by yourself. There's also a crash sensor. But before you disassemble the bike to disconnect stuff for testing where did you bought? It's new with 0 miles. Your dealer should help? Got it from Luna dire...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Well if your kick is "floating" more then speed and agility I guess even a sur run snowbike can bring you fun. Where I live, because it is a forested mountain, with twisty roads/trails and trees everywhere, I don't care how many CC's or horsepower you have, you're not going to be going over 30mph (...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

You need the ski lift at the blip of the throttle, you really massive power to launch "kick off" from ledges, to get that mx feel. I don't think grown men can have much fun on that thing. Why is having a "mx feel" a requirement for "grown men" to have fun? I have a blast with the Sur Ron in the sno...

There's one on eBay for $1299 - but after you factor in freight, its probably better to pick up one from one of the local authorized dealers. Would cost about the same and have dealer support.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The new Surron has VTC6. So if same qulity of Battery build comes here into play the stock storm bee battery will pretty good as well. Not to nitpick, but its not entirely clear what you meant there. When you said "the new Surron", that could be interpreted as a new model of the Light Bee (esp. sin...

Damn, that's lame.

I really wanted to like Luna, but they've let me down at every turn. Only good thing I could say about them is I love my Sur Ron.

Send them a design bill for $20,000. If they don't pay up, sue em. Chances are it would get settled long before a jury is selected.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

why cant luna just get that hotrod battery kit upgrade thing going? and make a real ready to go bike, with proper forks, proper shock, proper wheels. proper tires, etc etc, seems like such a lost opportunity. I wholeheartedly agree that Luna is missing a huge opportunity - if nothing else than offe...
