Re: SilentEnduro conversions

Fantastic first post!

KTM: What cells are you using? How is the throttle response with that controller?

Surron: How much does it weigh? What cells are you using? Steel link for the shock linkage?

Re: sur ron diy battery

I tried disconnecting the plug on mine and it gives a communication error code on the display along with the battery warning light and 0 volts on the display. There was no voltage coming from inside the battery but there is voltage running into that plug from the bike (pack voltage) The controller i...

Re: sur ron diy battery

Maybe it monitors battery temperature and it thinks the battery is overheated when the connector is unplugged. I'm sure someone has disassembled the wiring and know what those circuits are monitoring. Does your display show any error codes?

What BMS did you use?

Re: Another GasGas trials bike conversion

I need to play with the tuning more but so far I have a pretty abrupt engagement at 0 mph/0 % throttle. The SR controller is smoother than the older AXE controller in this regard. I have a domino and a magura throttle but I need to compare them more to say if one is better than the other. Domino is ...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

The CRF forks are working great. Most of the theoretical problems with this swap are non-issues in my riding environment. I want a stable motorcycle feel rather than a twitchy mountainbike feel and, not surprisingly, the crf forks provide that. Steep descents are especially more friendly now. The CR...

Re: Another GasGas trials bike conversion

I've been doing a fair amount of research the last two weeks. In between family and work and everything else as usual. After evaluating various motors and controllers, I'll most likely be using a brushed, air-cooled, series wound DC motor and a non-regen controller. In particular, the Motene...

nice handlebar height now.... how is the handling  One things for sure, its probably very comfortable standing up on the pegs now. :bigthumb: :thumb:  Good news Bad news. The forks work really well. The bike felt much more like a normal dirtbike to me and was very confidence inspiring tod...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

I'm just doing some Sur Ron R&D here, nothing is irreversible. 15 pounds heavier rake goes from 24 degrees to 27 wheelbase increased from 49 inches to 50 Riding it feels pretty good initially. Cockpit ergonomics improved significantly for the stand-up style I prefer. I can feel the weight difference...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

onto my new Sur Ron with the DNM forks. Same 19 inch wheel but more travel, weight and brakes. is this a waste of time and effort? I have not ridden my bike much to know if the forks even need upgrading but I am coming at this as a dirtbike rider rather than a bicycle rider. oh sorry I just read th...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

My offroad research this weekend leads me to believe that an increased rake angle for this bike might actually be a good thing in some scenarios. Very steep downhills were hairy as this is a small bike and it was difficult as a tall rider to get far enough rearward. It might also increase stability ...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Yes I was talking about the harescrambles application where you get constant rocks, ledges, edges, roots and logs. A couple more inches of properly valved travel might allow you to plow through more of this stuff more plushly without getting jarred and worn out over a couple of hours. Not talking ab...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

very nice handlebars and jewelry! The street legal version has a big speedo with adjustable "transmission ratio" settings, presumably to calibrate the speedo for different gearing, tire size etc. Mine came set at ratio 1:1. i assume that since everything else is stock, this is the right ratio for ca...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Can a generic 12 volt switch handle 60 volts? I'm thinking the switch can handle a certain amount of watts or heat so maybe high voltage with tiny amperage would be ok? I would like to add a handlebar switch to a couple of my electric motos including the sur ron. KTM handlebar map switch for example...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Yes I obviously need to put some miles on the bike and learn about mountainbike suspension capabilities and tuning. Its very possible that youth mx suspension is inappropriate. The bike in the race video had the rock shock debonair forks which Luna touts as a $1500 upgrade. Thats twice what I paid f...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

I have an ancient Sheldon lathe to make spacers etc. I should have specified my riding ; its all trails and stuff like a harescrambles course. Rocks, roots, ledges, edges and the occasional log.

How much travel does the rear wheel actually have? Its tough to estimate just by looking at the bike.

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Suspension upgrades anyone? I have read about alot of swaps within the realm of downhill mountainbike suspension; Fox 40, Manitou Dorado, etc etc. ( Luna is currently selling the Rox shocks Debonair model). The current video making the rounds is the guy racing harescrambles in colorado on the Debona...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Can someone summarize the euro x controller as far as the regen functions with respect to mode, brake switches and effect of cutting the green wire? I'm pretty sure is isn't like the X controller available in the USA. I've read the whole thread so I know its in here but we are at 160 pages to wade b...

Re: BRD RedShift electric motorcycles

The bottoms and the sides of all the 18650's are used as a surface for cooling the cells. The pack is set up to provide high volts (355V-ish), and low amps from each cell, so they can get the max amp-hours of run time possible. As a result the pack runs fairly cool anyways. Apparently, keeping the ...

Battery storage locker?

I have a baker's warming cabinet in my shop and am thinking that it would make a great place to store my batteries. Its aluminum clad and insulated and has a heating element. I'm not sure how hot it likes to run on its own yet. My shop isnt heated and we do get occasional dips in temp towards 0 F. I...
