Re: Are footpegs superior if you don't pedal?

It appears that neither side of this discussion will *ever* concede anything. People ride the type of frame they like, without needing to understand the physics behind the way it handles.

Just a suggestion, but...why not just agree to disagree?

Re: Ivermectin/Covid info

I've been vaccinated and I am "pro-vaccine". That being said, Ivermectin doesn't hurt when added to any current treatment protocol. "The FDA-approved drug ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2" https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0166354220302011 How it...

Re: Ivermectin/Covid info

Biden now has his trillion-dollar Covid relief bill, to mirror the Trump trillion-dollar relief bill. The vaccine doses do not cost the patient anything, but the five global pharma companies are again recieving hundreds of millions of dollars for the vaccines and boosters. The $530 per course fee is...

I'm bullish on half a dozen cryptocoins. This past year they've performed better than my retirement account. I don't have a lot of money in them, just what I can "afford to lose". Theres a thread I started about inflation, and I have collected several "hyper inflation" bills, lik...

Re: APL's Pressure Contact Battery box

The contacts on authentic Anderson Power Pole connectors are silver-plated copper-core. The "wiping" action of insertion is enough to clean the tarnish.

The fakes are aluminum core with zinc-plating.

Re: APL's Pressure Contact Battery box

I like the idea. Looks like 13S / 48V. It looks like nickel strips for the contact and also the "leaf spring" action.

Spring steel is best for the spring, and copper that has a thin nickel plate is best for contacts (actually, silver-plate is best, but...)

Like to actually pedal and shift gears? Take Mid Drive off the list. No matter the unit, they simply suck when it comes to a rider who wants to ride hard. Derailleurs, IGH's no matter, they all shift like their passing a brick past their anuses with a Mid Drive.

Re: 4S LiFePO4 as a 12V system

I'm watching the developments with "drain down" cell balancers. When a 14S lithium-Ion pack gets fully charged to 58.8V, a "dumb" charger would put one cell at 58.9V and another at 58.7V...and that's one of the reasons I charge to 90%, because of the variations in mass produced e...

Since silver is expensive, cover everything but the contact point with some kind of brushed-on rubber.

Re: APL's Pressure Contact Battery box

Yes, for reducing oxidation.

Vintage solder is 60/40 Tin/Lead the modern "lead-free" solder is tin at 90%+

I'd recommend zinc being better than solder, but may require a hotter temp to melt it.

Re: Myths about tires (part 1)

My user-profile does not apply to "most" ebikers, and certainly not pedal-cyclists. I ride on paved streets at 15-25 mph. I have a reasonably smooth street tread at medium pressures in a 26 x 3.0 tire. I typically do not ride in rain or snow.. High pressure in the tires jolts my back more ...

Re: What ebike or moped laws do you think need to be changed or passed?

I understand we are operating in a gray area. A few ES members have upgraded their hot rod ebike to DOT-legal Moped status (headlight/tail-light/brake lights/turn signals...etc). And then they got a license plate with liability insurance. I have no moped license plate, insurance, but I do have a mot...

Re: '91 Suzuki DR 250S

On a relatively flat commute, the motor will only need to provide max amps for a few seconds, then you will be cruising along, maintaining speed, and drawing much fewer amps... Sooo...for hilly country, you really need to cap the amps. But for flat land, you can raise the amps a surprising amount. I...

It may be hard to sell a controller by itself. However...I recommend getting the package running, and able to provide test-rides. Then, sell the controller/motor/ throttle as a running package...keeping only the rolling frame and battery. Then you can order a more ideal package, once you've seen how...
