Re: PWD's Rocky Mountain Blizzard - mid drive

i found similar limitations on my fat ebike. around 7in (your 20cm ) it gets very squirrely (and fun). i stay away from snow covered sidewalks and iced over areas without studs.

What studs did you buy? i found a few small ones on aliexpress but never ordered.

Re: DIY High Cell Count Balance Charger for Cheap

youd need to make a harness to connect the two packs for use in the bike. for series youd connect the + of one pack to the - of the other and then the remaining + and - are your overall pack leads. just use whatever gauge the leads on the batteries are, or one step larger (smaller #) for charging, j...

Re: DIY High Cell Count Balance Charger for Cheap

I find it hard to believe that your cells are within 1.5% after repeated use and charging cycles. By that logic we shouldn't use any complicated electronics cause they're more likely to fail.... it technically does have 20x the failure points, but it was worth it to me if every cell hit 4.2v on ever...

Sabvoton 72150 Regen makes the bike go faster!

I added a 12v brake trigger to my hydraulic brake handle and was in the process of setting up regen braking on a Sabvoton 72150 when i found this weird issue. As the title says, regen mode makes the bike gain speed. I had the bike on a stand, gave it a bit of throttle, triggered the brake switch ......

Re: DIY High Cell Count Balance Charger for Cheap

I did end up finally making this. The theory was right as I expected. I did add heatsinks to the TP4056 ICs just to make sure they dont current limit due to heat. Now they sit at 40-50degC The main problem is the 4.20v +- 1.5% shut off variance (that's 4.26v max). I would have much preferred a 4.2v ...

Re: All Weather Fat Tire eBike

Nice build. The QS205 50H looks small on compared to those tires and wide dropout. That rig is going to be a crazy horse. :bigthumb: Thanks, I had no idea. By the calculations it was 0-30mph in 6seconds w/ a 45mph top speed. Thank god i was cautious when i was trying this out cause it pops wheelies...

Re: All Weather Fat Tire eBike

Made up the torque mounts like a month ago and then plated them yesterday: 20191020_175816.jpg Installed on the bike: 1.jpg Last thing to do was to bleed the brakes because i switched the front/rear brakes between the left and right bars as i ride motorcycles as well. Problem is that the check valve...

Re: All Weather Fat Tire eBike

I have pretty much everything i need to finish the bike except for the last few custom bits: torque arms, sabvoton mounts, cover panels etc. got the rear wheel laced up with Sapim strong spokes, brass spoke washers, and SS spoke nipple washers 20190921_190846.jpg Also designed up these torque arms a...

Re: My FUTR Ebike build

Is that a qs hub motor?

You should go for a 150/200A controller if ya can for better acceleration. And a higher rated bms for sure

Re: DIY High Cell Count Balance Charger for Cheap

I would think you could use two 10s chargers concurrently for one 20s pack as long as the chargers are isolated like how my idea works. Meaning, the chargers couldn't share an AC-DC converter, they'd both have to plug into the wall separately. It almost certainly would not work with the dually 10s c...

Re: DIY High Cell Count Balance Charger for Cheap

That's a pretty good setup you have outlined there. those dual 10s chargers are only $350, so not bad at all.

Wish i could find a good solution to the low voltage protection during use though.

Re: DIY High Cell Count Balance Charger for Cheap

Not sure what size pack you have, but for the several hundred++ you're already spending on cells, spending an extra hundred or so on a bms over the cost of what you're suggesting a here shouldn't be a big problem, and will save you a lot of trouble. Or bulk charge and monitor your cell voltages man...

DIY High Cell Count Balance Charger for Cheap

So i've been looking into how to charge my 20s pack for my ebike... Heres the predicament: -Cheap BMSs are scary, quality boards cost $$$$ -I couldn't find a simple monitor/equalizer that would bleed off high cells as well as notify me when any cell reached 3.2v (they all trip at ~2.5v for what ive ...

Re: Alternative to Chinese Handlebar 3-way Switches

ABS is trickier to print but will hold up better outside. Especially from heat. PLA would probably be ok outside if it was a lighter color and not contained within a box where heat could build up.

Ideal would be two waterproof 3way mini toggle switches on a bicycle handle bar mount.
Any ideas how to make this?
I just bought some on ebay with waterproof boots. I'm 3D printing holders that clamp onto the bars.
