Re: Suzuk-E (built 2008-9) RM125 conversion

:) It's a thought...but I definitely couldn't stand up and play...have to bring a chair so I can lay the guitar on my lap flat to play, cuz I can't wrap my hand around the neck and still stick my fingers on the strings hard enough to push against the frets...so I play from above, one or two fingers...

Re: Off grid inverter used on grid

Yes, you can lower your bill, but not the way you want to. Off grid inverters have no way to hook up to your house. You would need a battery bank and run things directly off of that. All that inverter you linked does is allow you to charge the battery bank with ac as well as dc and run direct off th...

Re: How much power to field coils?

I don't know what you are going to use for power input, but let me tell you right off the bat that alternators are meant to run at very high rpm. Depending on what your power source is, it might be easier, smarter and more efficient to use a motor or dynamo.

Re: Revamping a used scooter

1-yes, you can get headlight polishing kits at any automotive store. 2 -no, you can put as big or little battery as you want as long as the voltage stays the same. 3- if the motor fits, no new fork is needed. The increased torque at the fork would be so negligible. I would get a new fork if you were...

Re: Can i install a other battery?

Can't really tell from just the outside, but the chances that you can just add another battery to that controller are very low. I would confidently say that you cannot do it. The motor should be fine to take the extra voltage, but at only 500 watts, you will not likely get any more speed out of it t...

Re: Industrial golf cart turned into solar generator.

I've been slowly accumulating power tool cells by collecting them from the battery recycling bins at hardware stores. Every one I've been to is happy to let me take as many as I want. Most of the time, the cells are useless, but often there is a broken bms or only a couple bad cells or sometimes eve...

Just looking at the number of views this thread has, I'm curious if you might get a better response pinning this thread to the top of each page rather than making it a sticky. I know, personally, I skip right over all stickies and only found this by accident.

Re: increase static solar panel efficiency/output?

Previous comments are correct. Keeping our panels, clean and cool, using MPPT and tracking are the only ways to maximize your panel efficiency. Yes, mirrors concentrated onto the panels will increase your output, but you have to constantly adjust the mirrors, otherwise they will shade the panels qui...

Re: Need Help - New Batteries Only Charge Halfway

Coming from someone who sold batteries for scooters for years, I'm willing to bet it is the batteries, but they might still be ok. What you should do is first charge them each individually or in parrallel to balance them. Next, lead acid batteries like to be cycled a few times, especially when they ...

Sometimes the motors are ok, but they are always brushed Not for quite a while now--there are some pretty good brushless hubmotors on some of them now (look up my Powerchair BLDC motor thread for one example). :) They are still predominantly brushed. In fact, Invacare, one of the biggest powerchair...

THRIFT STORES What's worth it? Anything in particular to keep an eye out for? Yesterday I saw a Razor electric scooter for $15 but it had a SLA battery so I decided against it. I know those diabetes, err I mean mobility scooters generally run SLA too. I figured the motor and related components were...

Going to have to change the controller and charger and batteries to jump up to 48volts. For that amount of money you can just buy a better scooter.

Re: Shared electric cars on the horizon

My point is that sharing assets is not a sign of anything good, it's not a goal for society to aspire to. It's a sign of poverty and a way to get by on less money. Most of the people who use a laundromat do so because they can't afford a new washer and a big enough house to put it in. Woah there! C...

Re: DIY Electric Assist Wheelchair

I will tell you as someone in the industry, these systems are pretty much universally hated. They seem like a good idea because you can still use your chair manually when you want to, but switch to assist when needed. The problem is that the wheels add so much weight to the chair, that you end up us...

This hasn't been a problem for years. You are probably worried because you are tinking back to floppy discs. Hard drives are not like floppy disks which used magnetic discs to record making them susceptible to magnets. Your laptop will be fine.

Just call fedex and set up a pickup and delivery. You don't need an account. Or ask someone on Usedvictoria, travel between Sydney and Victoria is so common, I'm sure someone will be willing to pick it up for you

Re: HOUSTON (AP) 5000 Y.O. TESLA driver killed

The manufacturers have been lobbying for years to make gas pedals cut off as soon as the brake is applied to limit accidents due to poor installs and user errors. I have had many close calls with fresh installs where the customer w...
