Nylon gear comparison BBSHD-TSDZ2.jpg
I do not quite agree here. As the TSDZ2 has way higher RPM, it's torque on a first stage gear will be smaller, hence a smaller gear might be well dimensioned. The slow spinning BBS would destroy a small gear as it applies more force on it.

Expensive, weak, heavy.
their 'mini motor' is tiny and it weighs just 2.5kg. Price and adjustability is less clear.

If no one reports any errors
assist seems to switch on less quick than on 0.18
I think this is related to having set the support level a bit lower than before, so it's not a problem.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

If no one reports any errors I have the tiny problem that the assist seems to switch on less quick than on 0.18. I drive PAS mode, and before, motor power came after 1/4 pedal turn. Now with 0.19 beta 8 I feel sometimes it will take 360° till the motor kicks in. (Motor only on torque sensor I tried...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

what exactly is high cadence mode changing technically? I use a 48V motor, switched it on, but I do not feel much difference. How does it work? Does it affect the efficiency ? Why does the menu warn this might harm the motor ? Why does the menu state the mode might not have any effect on 48V motors?...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Does opensource firmware support optimal rider cadence? Something like a cadence-related power setting curve? So, bikers would be encouraged to pedal a bit faster instead or ruining their knees with super low cadence and max pressure plus max support? Under cadence 30, the motor would give only 30% ...

Re: TSDZ2 with OpenSource firmware 36V or 48V

if you have a 36V motor you can power it with 48Volt which gives you higher pedal cadence but less torque.
36V motor with 36V battery will be quite comparable to 48V motor on 48V battery.
but the 48V system will be a bit more efficient due to less losses, cells in a 48V battery will have less stress.

motor working on the bench with throttle?
If it's programmed according european regulations you will need to turn the cranks too.
You might aswell put it into your bike to try it, normally they work.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I run Beta 4, and in the offroad menu I can set the speed (for non-offroad use). However that speed will cut off also in offroad mode. Also in offroad menu, I can limit power (for non-offroad use), and I can set a power limit , which must be for offroad, correct? I find it a bit confusing to set sta...

the satellite cable of the standard display can be used to flash a TSDZ2 with @casainho's opensource software. It is a Julet 5 pin female with 5 wires soldered to the display, 13cm long, maybe a bit too long.

moving the cranks forward to the back
It is a geared motor with a high transmission rate, and geared transmissions do not come without any play. The gears need some play and on the pedal side it appears 42times bigger than on the sprocket side.

The motor is very light (2,2 kg)
well add a bottom bracket, a freewheel chainring, and a motor controller, and you may end close to the TSDZ2's 3.6 kg's.

chain going on to the 9T motor sprocket makes a bit more noise than the motor,
Could a belt drive be lower noise lower maintenance? Or will that assembly take too much space? Or no big pulleys available?

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The coaster brake version is different controller firmware and is also mechanically different. There is 0 motor lag after you stop pedaling and it does not freewheel at the cranks. So why is not everybody using this motor? Zero motor lag is no problem, and one freewheel less positive because less d...

That's not clever at all, as it's not contactless and very fragile . But I agree, it would be interesting to know, if the Lingbei system works properly. As this seems to be a parenthesis on the TSDZ's torque sensor, the Lingbei could be equipped with a better make (but with faulty software, bad pro...
