Re: 1.7kg 1000w mid drive

the torque sensor is very refined. Comparing to a bottom bracket torque sensor is a different world. But why should a chain sensing troque sensor be better? It adds mechanical parts to the chain, the pedals will give when pressing, it will be disturbed by chain movements, it requires a quite compli...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Sorry, but I am confused. Perhaps I missed some updates on this topic. Same here. Some idea of a roadmap to V 0.20 with KT and both bafang displays would be very appreciated. Also confusing to hear KT LCD3 can't be developed further due to lack of memory and to see the Bafang displays stuck on 0.19...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I find it a bit difficult we currently seem to see a firmware 0.19 for sw 102 and one for 850c, and a firmware 0.20 for LCD3, plus I find it especially difficult to locate those firmwares on Github as there does not seem to be one folder containing, say, all beta firmware stuff. Would be great to ha...

SW102 and cabling to attach to a new TSDZ2.
As the SW102 is bluetooth capable: Is it possible to add a transmitter to the TSDZ2 and use SW102 wireless?

a V21 quick after V20, mainly to support the new display
so that means we all will switch to 850C or to SW102 - if we want to upgrade.
But which Display is preferable? Do they have the same capabilities?
Are there plans with KT-LCD5 or KT-LCD8 (keep the cable as is)?

for me cadence mode ist not available, the other modes are available but the motor does not work.
after flashing back to version 0.19 I found the wheel magnet was too close to the sensor, so version 0.20 beta 1 may be quite ok and I will try that soon.

The motor should also be flashed with ver 20.
Of course, the motor also has 0.20.0 beta1 on it. I'm just assuming the error might be on the LCD rather.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I flashed the 'official' beta 0.20.0 beta1 on my LCD3. I feel much backwards turn resistance. I can activate power assist and 3 levels, and also E-MTB assist. Cadence assist does not appear on screen. On all modes there is no assist at all, in E-MTB the motor will turn for a second then stall. Setup...

Nylon gear comparison BBSHD-TSDZ2.jpg
I do not quite agree here. As the TSDZ2 has way higher RPM, it's torque on a first stage gear will be smaller, hence a smaller gear might be well dimensioned. The slow spinning BBS would destroy a small gear as it applies more force on it.

If no one reports any errors
assist seems to switch on less quick than on 0.18
I think this is related to having set the support level a bit lower than before, so it's not a problem.

If no one reports any errors I have the tiny problem that the assist seems to switch on less quick than on 0.18. I drive PAS mode, and before, motor power came after 1/4 pedal turn. Now with 0.19 beta 8 I feel sometimes it will take 360° till the motor kicks in. (Motor only on torque sensor I tried...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

what exactly is high cadence mode changing technically? I use a 48V motor, switched it on, but I do not feel much difference. How does it work? Does it affect the efficiency ? Why does the menu warn this might harm the motor ? Why does the menu state the mode might not have any effect on 48V motors?...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Does opensource firmware support optimal rider cadence? Something like a cadence-related power setting curve? So, bikers would be encouraged to pedal a bit faster instead or ruining their knees with super low cadence and max pressure plus max support? Under cadence 30, the motor would give only 30% ...

Re: TSDZ2 with OpenSource firmware 36V or 48V

if you have a 36V motor you can power it with 48Volt which gives you higher pedal cadence but less torque.
36V motor with 36V battery will be quite comparable to 48V motor on 48V battery.
but the 48V system will be a bit more efficient due to less losses, cells in a 48V battery will have less stress.

If it's programmed according european regulations you will need to turn the cranks too.
You might aswell put it into your bike to try it, normally they work.

the satellite cable of the standard display can be used to flash a TSDZ2 with @casainho's opensource software. It is a Julet 5 pin female with 5 wires soldered to the display, 13cm long, maybe a bit too long.
