Re: Top Speed of Bafang Ultra vs. JuicedBikes CCX

The Bafang Ultra isn't a bike, its a 1000W mid drive system that peaks over 2000W depending on the bike configuration that uses it. The JuicedBikes Crosscurrent X is a bike, one that uses a Bafang 750w geared hub motor. With a 52v battery and a 25A peak current its likely peaking at about 1500W of p...

Re: Illegal bike confiscation possibilities by police not up to date on newer laws

There is a good chance that the cop was just appeasing the person who called to make sure they were appearing to do something about their concerns. Still worrying, but the attitudes towards the bike would be a bit different if they are just driving past rather than responding to someone who called t...

Re: Donor for tall guys

You don't need an Ebike for a 2 mile round trip. It seriously wouldn't be worth the hassle, or the worry of it getting stolen. For short trips where you leave a bike often at the same place, get a cheap used push bike. You will be replacing it fairly regularly, and 1 mile each way is a very short ri...

A rim that you can bolt a rotor too.
"hub", not "rim" ;)
Haha, my mind was thinking hub but my fingers typed rim.

Re: Trail Z front disc brake

Disc brakes require two things that most rim brake bikes don't have. A rim that you can bolt a rotor too. The mounting point on the fork required for the caliper. Because of the this you will likely need to change the front hub and the front fork to disc brake compatible ones. You could do this pret...

Use brackets. These came from Home Depot plumbing department. Copper plated soft steel. Re: Frame Hole Drilling...

My controller is currently cable tied under the down tube, not far above the bottom bracket.

I was considering installing some rivnuts/nutserts in the down tube to allow me to bolt the controller in place.

Is this a bad idea? Its a hydroformed alloy frame.

Re: A simple but practical and cheap EV range extender?

Does the car have an on board charger? Will the car drive if the charger is operational?

If so you could build a 5kwh power bank with an inverter to charge the traction battery as you drive. Not the most efficient way to do it but probably the easiest if the car will drive while charging.

I'd consider a Bafang Ultra G510 powered bike. So much more power and torque than the Shimano. Can even get a full suspension version for less. This company is active on the forums here I think https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Top-quality-mountain-ebikes-with-Bafang_60727953227.html?spm=a2700....

While using throttle; the battery percentage changes, as low as 20% toward end of ride. But 100% when still. Why? This is voltage sag. The voltage measured on a cell decreases the greater the current load applied. When the load is removed the voltage will recover. Difference cells have different sa...

Re: Drop bar bike cable routing with a mid-drive motor

I think Bafang make a stabiliser bar that secures the motor away from the down tube. It ensures there is always sufficient gap for the cables to operate correctly. https://lunacycle.com/bsb-1-stabilizer-bar-for-bbs02-and-bbshd/ There may be something similar for the motor you mentioned? Also, what bottom bracket does that bike have?

If its an American style BMX then you will need an adaptor to fit a Bafang mid drive in there.

Something like this

Re: What motor would you install in bmx bike?

10mm inst really much. Pretty sure I would have spread my dropouts on my MTB at least 5mm and that was a 135mm motor going in a 135mm dropout. The extra width was required to fit in enough spacers for the chain to clear the frame at the dropout in the highest gear. That's a 29" bike though so the ch...
