Re: cell capacity tester

I use an IMAX pro charger from a hobby shop usually used to charge RC batts. Set for 1s & the right chemistry, charge the cell then use the discharge option set to 1 amp to safely discharge. The IMAX stops & displays the time taken. A 2000MAh cell in good condition for example takes 120 minutes. 2 ...

48 v build

Suggestions on balancing bms for 13s5p build. Will use 30q cells (have already). This is my third build and first large battery. Small 12v (3s) and a 36 v batt for my scooter. Both worked well. Wanting to go quality for reliability etc.

Re: cell capacity tester

Do you want to measure the capacity of the cells or how much they sag under discharge? From your question it's not clear which. I want the capacity. Discharge will be small stuff so sag should not be too much of an issue, right? All cells charge and hold 4.2 volts nicely as they are unused but olde...

Re: cell capacity tester

do you want to test Amps or AmpHours/WattHour/capacity? please use the right term, capacity of cells is measured in Wh, or less accurate in Ah, but for that you need to know the median voltage of the cell. Good...Amp hours Ah. I know the voltage but for mixed parallel sets I need to match Ah as clo...

cell capacity tester

Running a bit confused. Wanting to test amp capacity but all capacity testers only mention/measure volts. Looking for suggestions for multiple testing for amps...not volts. I want to match salvage cells as needed for a small "powerwall" charged by a solar panel setup so the amp capacity is what I ne...

Re: Lead acid anyone?

One time I read about putting Epsom salt and water in a worn sla battery. I tried it and it didn't do anything. It was suppose to make the sla like new again or at least better. I saw a video on it. Didn't work for me. I guess it's a just a myth. I later read about a chemist talking about it and I ...

Re: Lead acid anyone?

My son and I were avid participants in the Oregon/Washington Electrathon and are now planning on reentering. I know this is off topic...sort of...but I want to connect on this level as well...expecially if in our region. I also use SLA for my ezip 750 scooter and am looking for lead battery technol...

Re: Lead acid anyone?

The lad found 4 batteries so we could run 48 volt. Won the student division at Portland International Raceway finals with a win in the long track, 2nd in short track (wrong gear darn it), and blew all away in the sprint/drags for a dominant win (including adult division). Ran with a Lynch motor. The...

Re: Lead acid anyone?

So I know lithium ion is the current hot stuff right now, but is anyone still running on lead-acid batteries? There have been several reported advancements that are supposed to be coming to market in the next two years. Lead/graphene-acid and bipolar lead-acid to name two. Both of these development...

Re: Ezip 750 overvolting.

I run an old EZip 750 scooter at 36v thru the 24 controller. The motor just doesn't heat up even with this voltage and my 200 lbs. after a full charge run on the beach in sand, etc. However, I think the controller is cutting out after it heats up toward the end of a ride or after a really steep hil...

Re: Ezip 750 overvolting.

Your throttle is bound to be going bad, not likely to work with the new controller, so it's a good thing this cones with one. The 1000w is 36v, supposed to be almost the same amp draw as the 750w 24v. This should be simple enough. https://www.monsterscooterparts.com/currie-36-volt-5-pin-controller-...

Re: first post. Looking for some scooter upgrade guidance

After lurking for more than a year I finally found a thread exactly matching my needs, interests. I am a good basic ebike and scooter mechanic: Been into e-bike/e-trike for about 5 years and a couple years into scooters. My personal scooter is an ezip 750 that remains trouble free after 3 years...I ...

Thanks for the confirmation. The Satiator struck me as the best option for the money. I needed to see someone else say it. Love your build...a bit scary perhaps but way fun.

Need universal charger for LiIo, pB, nicad/nimh 24-60v

Looking for a good adjustable universal battery charger for my stable. I have 24 SLA, 48 (53.2 and 58.? volt liIo, and a number of combinations of nicad/nimh. My trike battery is a 14s9p configuration that I bought from EM3EV with the ltx lt250-14m-3s charger. I use an ICharger 206B for the 12 and 2...
