Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

Wondering if it would be possible get the cranks undrilled. There's probably enough metal there to move the pedals 10mm inboard and cut the excess length off. Definitely need to be shorter.

Re: Fang Bikes Australia - Carbon Bafang M500/M600 Frames and kits

Thanks.. that weight is really impressive! If it's possible to put in a larger battery to compete with the range of the commercial offerings etc you will do extremely well! I'm interested already :)

Re: Fang Bikes Australia - Carbon Bafang M500/M600 Frames and kits

It's great to have an Aus option. Frey can deliver a completely built M600 V2 to the door for under AU5k with some pretty high spec brand name components, but this is a really good alternative for us aussies. Good job :) Can the frame accept a 600Wh battery? 450Wh seems a little on the low side, but...

Thanks for the videos!

It's such a beautiful country once you get away from the urban/industrial areas. I really hope they can preserve this for future generations.

And the bikes are nice too :)

Re: Dengfu M09 Endruo/Freeride build log

thanks for the teardown Kepler! :) Certainly is a noisy drive and much louder the the ultra. The noise is far less apparent when tagging along behind it than when on the bike though, and is still quieter than some bbsxx's I've heard. On another note, is there a tool to get the chainring off/on? Since ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

If anyone is interested, I've found some inexpensive replacements for both 27.5x2.8 tyres and magura brake pads. Pads: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32850037377.html Tyres (various vendors) https://www.veetireco.com/listings/plus-size-bulldozer/ Pads are just as good as the maguras, tyres seem gri...

Re: Chinese Frames Geo "outdated" specifics?

Frey's geo is perfectly fine. I suspect those criticizing it have allegiances elsewhere. The only downsides are 1. The all up weight 2. The motor efficiencies. You can get past the weight by using lighter components ($$$) but there's no avoiding the heavy motors (especially the ultra) and frames, wh...

Re: Latest FREY M600 2.0 pictures and video

Can't wait to read your review on this. Perhaps the shift sensor was put there due to it complaints about water/mud ingress.. which is easily rectified with some heatshrink filled with a little hot glue. Will be an interesting comparison with the am1000, i'm looking forward to getting an update on m...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

No question - the freewheel is the weak link. Freewheel failure has nothing to do with the assist level or the power of the motor, however, as the freewheel is only subjected to the forces applied to the pedals. If anything, higher assist levels might even mitigate the situation by reducing the for...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

I also noticed that the outer bearings - especially on the drive side - have no seals - only a shield - so not very well protected from the elements and the outer bearing on the first primary gear that I replaced (with the freewheel) was developing a fair amount of corrosion. I'm convinced washing ...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Hi guy's, lot of solid info on this topic, thanks! Im looking to order one full spec, 48v 21Ah battery. Has anyone of you guy's changed the stock Bafang 44T chainring to a smaller 36/38 one? Top speed is not very important for me. I will also want to go lower. I saw this post? https://www.endless-s...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Thanks ! On the disassembly photos (attached), I see 5 white wires, do you know what is for ? It's simply some wires of the balancing ? Did this battery case come from : http://www.reention.com/product/detail/91 ? Thank you. The cells in the 48V 21aH battery are arranged in 13 groups of 6 cells. Th...

Hi,
Did this battery pack for Bafang Ultra work with Neptune 15 BMS ?
Did you test it ?
Any advice ?
Thank you
I've installed the neptune and it works great! Tight fit however, not for the feint of heart.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

fitted a raceface 44t and the chain guide Ivy supplied. No more chain coming off finally! Post scriptum about the motor, Frey supplied a new one. Still unsure what caused everything to fail, Luna has some vague blurb about HV spikes getting through to the 5V supply lines on the controller (which app...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

My 2c on this topic. I do a good share of riding with both Specialised and Merida e-bikes within e-mtb group rides, and can attest that the AM1000 does have a hard time keeping up with them in tight, twisty & rough single track type riding due to it size and weight. But out in the open or up any hill...

Additionally, wonder if the M600 display (DPC23) would work with the Ultra? The DPC18 has always been a bit large and unprotected when flying through thickly wooded single track.

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

can you elaborate on the situation that led to this and what the errors are on the display? No speed readout & no pedal assist, strangely the walk function still works but have no throttle. Kind of points to something wrong with the controller. I wired up another speed sensor to the bafang, which g...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Update. Frey (Ivy) seemed to be on vacation so her responses were slower than usual. The issue with the wheel has been sorted out and I am trying to work out the clutch problems directly with Bafang (getting the part directly seems to be a nightmare however!). Frey would probably help in this regard...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

to be honest I'm competely disgusted by the AM1000 and Frey at the moment. 2 pedals stripped on the left crank (until i finally figured the left and right cranks were installed on the wrong side!) Paid a few hundred to get these fixed and also buy a new one from Frey. Ultra motor has started strippi...
