Re: Bafang SW102 Bluetooth LCD - OpenSource firmware and mobile app

Just a quick post to report I had no problem going from 0.19.11 to 0.19.17 with nrf connect. Some of the chat here made me nervous about updating. Startup is way faster - that's very welcome! Also, MPH works. As a very minor issue the 'mph' label seems to overlap the speed digits. The battery capaci...

Re: Tongsheng tsdz2 Full Suspension Help?

You can do without the bracket. The motor will want to rotate forwards, so rotate it forwards against the frame and then tighten the locknut and it works fine without any anti-rotation bracket. You will probably want to put something between the frame and motor casing, like a bit of old innertube.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

If you want something really light, the " mini cube " batteries are great - I have a 14p2s / 300Wh and it weighs about 1.5kg and fits in a small saddle bag. 300Wh is only about a max of 30 miles / 45km on the road for me, so more like 20m/30km for everyday use (not to punish the pack by full charge/...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi! Yesterday I did my best to install the motor on a Trek Fx2 but I was not able to install the back bolt attachment. There is no room for it between the bike chain stays and the bolt support. Is there any alternative? Potential issues if I run the motor without it? The bracket is to counteract th...

Re: Bafang SW102 Bluetooth LCD - OpenSource firmware and mobile app

ok - new release coming out this week (based on our now merged 850C and SW102 codebases). Anyone have any bugs to report that you haven't mentioned in github? If so, now's a good time ;-) Excellent! Looking forward to it. Will this still be for 0.19, or will it work for 0.20? When I turn on the SOC...

LM35s for temperature sensing

I've wanted to put a LM35 temperature sensor on my motor since I got it. I should be able to simply apply 5V (to left pin when looking at the flat side) and GND (right) and see something around 0.2V (20 * 10mV) on the middle pin at room temperature, right? Because first I ordered 2, then a batch of ...

Re: Best wheel size for TSDZ2 mid-drive?

That would be plenty of range and top end - 28-106 gear inches. I have a minimal battery - 52V 300Wh mini-cube, 3.1lb that fits in a small saddle bag. I get a solid 20 miles out of it on the road, could stretch to 30 if I charge and discharge 100%, which you don't want to do regularly. The battery w...

Re: Best wheel size for TSDZ2 mid-drive?

So I am considering using either a 29" or 27.5" mountain bike. Which is ideal for a TSDZ2 mid-drive if range is my #1 priority? I don't care much about speed (as long as I can go 20mph with some pedaling I'm completely happy). I will be doing mostly gravel riding with some road as well. Pretty much...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

+ Do you think that in future We will be able to purchase displays that are already prepared for the Open source firmware? Maybe an agreement with the manufacturer is required. I believe (?) with the SW102 at least, all we need is a display with Bluetooth enabled by default. Given that, it's possib...

Re: New build TSDZ2 not working

Well, there is the Maroq firmware (I have no experience with) that uses the default screen but the FOSS controller firmware. Similar to just raising the voltage limit, that's just a flashing job, with no alternate displays or soldering required.

Re: New build TSDZ2 not working

Probably the best is the main FOSS firmware wiki: https://github.com/OpenSource-EBike-fir ... e-on-TSDZ2 - the "connect directly" option is the easiest. Follow links from there.

Re: New build TSDZ2 not working

Yes that's your exact problem - the 48V motors will do this with a charged 52V battery. Will pootle along on walk assist, but won't assist when riding. You really need the one of the FOSS firmwares that accepts higher voltage. I'm not sure but I think you can tweak the factory firmware to raise the ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Sorry if I insist but I am not clear where you want to arrive with emtb. If you want a progressive level the power mode is already perfect, anyone can try it. Just set a high multiplier and you can easily get from a few watts to the maximum. Just look at the wattmeter and you can see the value rise...

Re: Tsdz2 clonking noise

Sorry I have nothing specific to add, but first stop should be checking everything is tight. This weekend I thought something bad was happening to mine - a new clunk when starting, stopping, and to some extent during pedaling. I found that my lockring had come loose (and I don't use the anti-rotatio...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I'm sad to I can't try out 0.20, because before I got it flashed I cracked my LCD3 display (so I'm awaiting a new display. Worse I ordered a SW102, which isn't yet ported so I'll either have to wait or try to port myself). In the meantime, when I first heard of the eMTB exponential multiplier I thou...

Re: Bafang SW102 Bluetooth LCD - OpenSource firmware and mobile app

Does it seem like you'll always have to physically open it for the first flash? I've cracked the LCD on my KT-LCD3, and I'm trying to decide whether to buy another, or an SW102 (a form-factor I would prefer), or both. From the noises here, something that works isn't far off (it'll take a couple of w...

I am so sorry if the community feels the development is taking too long.
Personally, not at all!

I'm impressed at how much you've done hard on the heels of 0.19.0. Way more rapid than I'd expect. I'm only itching to try it because it sounds so good.

Quick update for anyone interested. I am very satisfied with how everything is working but have a couple of things to do. Am now focusing on the cadence sensor. Sweet! I'm just about to go on vacation, and very enthusiastic about trying all the new stuff some time after I get back in August. Thank ...

Re: TSDZ2, how do I know I'm not wearing out the motor?

I recently installed a 52v 750w TSDZ2 motor on my road bike. I know that riding in too high a gear will eventually wear the motor out. However, how do I know this is happening? In other vehicles, you can tell if it is overworked. You can hear a car's engine struggling, or automatic transmissions sh...

Re: TSDZ2 and belt drive?

I am used to riding a normal bike and do enjoy pedaling. The reason why I'm looking into an e-bike conversion is because my geeky side thinks it's pretty cool and because the hills are brutal where I live. I would also like to be able to ride 30-50 km easily. Basically, I want a bicycle that helps ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi all, I read in this thread that the motor shuts down when cadence exceeds 90rpms. Yet I am almost sure I have pedalled faster than that and the motor was still helping me. I am using the stock firmware. is the 90rpm limit a "feature" of the custom firmware?the I will test again, but in the meant...
