Re: How much juice does a motor use at different speeds

Play around with this simulator. Put the human power at 0, click simulate, then try different throttle percentages or grades. At the bottom pay attention to battery power, motor power, and efficiency.

Edit: beat me to it.

Re: What Chainring/s is everyone running these days

The motor kit I bought for my wife's bike also only came with a 6-speed freewheel. The cheap included freewheels are also not cut for hyper glide, so shifting is pretty rough. I replaced it with an 11-28 DNP freewheel, which worked well enough I got one for my bike as well. My bike has 28-38-48 toot...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

Good video evidence. I couldn't actually see any details before, I was just guessing/thinking in my head. I was wondering about the direction of carbon fiber for driveshafts, so thank you for the answer there. Good luck!

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

10,000 views on YouTube. I'm blown away. When I first posted it, I didn't expect it to get more than 100 views or so. Torsional rigidity then? Can you have anyone hold your bike upright, and you try to twist the trailer? Fixing torsional rigidity seems to be the low hanging fruit here so I'm going ...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

I need to get updating this year! I did some maintenance for the season on both bikes, though my wife's StefEbike only needed about 10% of the work. Cleaned and lubed both chains, do people actually lube shifters and cables like the manual says? I only read about that yesterday, so I suppose it coul...

Re: Trailer travails

[*]The trailer's center of mass is too high? I need some room for suspension travel but there's room to lower the the boom. I think that's the main issue. The torsional axis of a one-wheeled trailer is a line between the hitch joint and the tire's contact patch. Mass located away from this line exe...

Re: Giant Trance X1 build for MAX range

I can say that the Malectrics spot welder worked well for me. A user named Flippy recommended it to me, and it looks like he builds lots of battery packs. What he originally recommended to me is copied below, and you can view the link in my signature to see what I actually bought if you would like. ...

Re: Dropouts/Rear Derailleur/Washers with YesComUsa

Revival! I just dealt with this last night on my cheap bike, and in my typical fashion went searching for other people's experience after already implementing my own solution. Didn't get any pictures, but I used an angle grinder to flatten out the lump on the back of the axle style shifter/derailleu...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

Great result on the wiring pod and snack pod! Wiring always surprises me too once I put it all in one place trying to clean it up. I'm usually just to chicken to trim all the wires to length, in case I make any changes later.

Thanks for linking me to this Neppy. I'm glad the bike is working out well so far, and wish you a good recovery. Re: Can I shorten BMS sensing wires?

No, a couple inches of wire isn't nearly enough to affect voltage readings. Test every cell group with a meter to compare with the BMS readings.

Re: 20AH 48V pack using Samsung 25R + Agniusm modules + Generic BMS

Nice work, and have a good time! A funny thing on the motor controller that came with my 48v ebike conversion kit, is that it cuts off at 42 volts, which is 3.0v on my 14s pack. My MJ1 cells can also go down to 2.5 volts if I really need to, so when I'm going for a max range bike ride, it cuts off a...

Good to hear wturber. I was almost going to buy the regular marathon tires, since they've been tested on the rolling resistance site, but went with my original choice of Marathon Cross. They look like they'll help cornering in gravel, from my subjective eye. I managed to take a fall from my bike, an...

I'm pretty sure it does, on the 14s 60a version if that's what you call small. My friend has the apple store app, which looks different, but turned off my bike as a joke on one trip.

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

Thank you for sharing your experience with me Chalo. I haven't gotten to try it yet, but I did fix a flat on the rear of my bike. The stock tire on the rear is starting to show threads, and probably let a chunk of glass poke the tube. So this is actually the first time ever that I've needed to purch...
