Re: Cleaning inside of motors

unless it was needing new bearings, and I cleaned only the bearings seats then. Quick off topic but do ya have that bearing part number orrhand? My bearings are getting play. Clunkthunk. Can wobble the rear wheel at least 1/8-3/16 inch. Its distinctly the bearings. Grease probally washed out when w...

Re: A123 20AHr Pouch Cell Battery Build & Info Thread

Ok one more cell went dead. so I have that riveted one and this was a 24s pack and will leave the copper rivet cell and run one as 11s and one as 12s still good for 62v lvc controller cutoff. No bms just balance wires. I don't see there with there would be a problem with running a 12s and 11s in se...

Ok. Copy this. Fer less than 146$. Go for 32s. If there is a hobby market. If the market is 96s, coolio.. but isnt a distributed BMS safer there? https://www.ebay.com/itm/114978507669?hash=item1ac540cb95%3Ag%3Ad5EAAOSwcGNhORer&LH_All=1 This BMS will easy peak 600A. Who want a metal oxide semicon...

Brakes are better at braking than non-brakes. You're bending over backwards to do things sub-optimally. I am actually trying to destroy my brakes at the time being ( ready for replacement ) and the front is holding its own.. Shminmo 4 POT.. BUT the rear is trashed. Lil Shimano. Big 8" hub moto...

Re: Very Impressed by fast motor winding with gear reduction vs. Slow motor Winding without gear reduction

Regen can be awesome if you have a strong pack. Used to use hobbyking lipos, with a 5C charge rate. No problem dumping 1000W into them. Eliminated my rear mechanical brake because it wasn't necessary anymore  great breaking!! *Braking. I LOL @ hobbyking lipos. They are weaksuace. Sure they say...

Re: Kelly Controller power ratings

I know how this works. I can tell you absolutely, I think.,. Tractive effort ( curve ) load, battery ability, RPM rang and kV, all have an effect. Time, current demand, whats what... On how Kelly lays out the power. For instance: Here is a KEB72801X: 2018 controller. 8Kw rated by Kelly. 350A peak, 1...

Re: Very Impressed by fast motor winding with gear reduction vs. Slow motor Winding without gear reduction

I got a MAC mid drive geared motor. With just about any electric motor pole switching speed plays a huge part of efficiency. It starts at 0 RPM where efficiency is zero. BLDC motors can't pack enough poles to be efficient in a hubmotor envelope to be very efficient below 150 RPM or so, and even Thsi...

Let me guess. You SET the Power supply to ( 4.2)v... but MEASURED the terminal @ 3.6v. Watch that EEEVBLog vid relating to DC compliance. Yes? Compliance voltage. Watch that EEVBlog vid relating to the nature of power sources and DC compliance.. The nature of electrical nodes. Ect. An electrical eng...

Addy buddy.. If it was a foot of wire.. ( 1/1000)(1000)... ( 1) 4.2v power source at one end.. and the resultant voltage read at the other end of the wire..As 3.7v... ( losing 0.5v, through 1 foot, a resistance of 200mOh, @ ) That wire is .... very very small... 1.25w ( 0,5(v) x (2.55(A))... would b...

Re: How do fast chargers work?

It's not false, it's basic electronics. How about you provide some kind of reasoning or proof before you go around mistakenly telling people that they are wrong?
You are not dropping half a volt on 20 gauge wire with 2.5A through it at 3.6 volts. .. That is the first clue. . This is the ba...

Yeah. Its a shame they quite often destroy the QR codes. The solar forums are literally RIDDLED with questions about the QR code deciphering and destruction.

Looks very close to a ( slightly puffed, b/c of the valve pressure or a vacume.. because of the valve pressure. is optical illusion) lifepo cell. I meant for each cell, not for all of them. In any case, I do not have anything the can remotely provide 50A :)
Understood. In parallel it IS one big cell. Re: How do fast chargers work?

So here's the scenario. I have 5 50Ah cells in parallel. They can do 1C of charging which means they can pull 50amps. THis one statement shows your misunderstanding. My friend. Whn you place cells in parallel. 5x ( 1c, 50Ah cells in parallel... ) = 250A. Two-Hundred and Fifty amps. Is a "1C&qu...

Re: How do fast chargers work?

The question is, can I set the PSU to say 20V and charge faster provided that the cell internal voltage does not exceed 4.2V? I know it means I need to keep sampling the cell to make sure they don't go over, probably to reduce the voltage to 4.2 when they get close. DO NOT DO THIS. THIS NEGATES THE...

Re: How do fast chargers work?

I'd recommend getting some better leads for that power supply. If the power supply is putting out 4.2V and 2.5A, yet the voltage at the cells is still 3.69V, that voltage difference is being wasted in the wires. With better wires you'd be able to put out higher current with the same 4.2V setting. T...

Re: How do fast chargers work?

What you see, is the term, " compliance voltage of a circuit." I can hit any cell with a CC power up to (infinite? ) amps if the source can pull it.. but.. if the cell reaches the (chargers CV phase) 4.2v.. the top voltage, current transmission will drop... as long as the circuitis not pro...
