Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

What hall throttle are you using? Some have an input that is 12V tolerant.

I got some that were 8-30V, spring loaded, and waterproof from MCS.

Re: Is there DVT software available used or free ?

Well OK then, so to you a Sevcon Gen4 is an inverter? - Yes, It is technically an inverter, but I knew what you meant. I just referred to it as an inverter, sort of second nature for me. I don't know which motors are DC vs AC out of those commonly discussed here. - Devices which are used to control ...

Re: Is there DVT software available used or free ?

No, I mean inverter. I work with traction inverters for a living and we use the term inverter. Yes, people call them "controllers" (likely from back in the old DC days) but they are technically inverters. I wasn't trying to correct you, just referring to them as I do every day. The EV industry large...

Will the older IXXAT work with newer controllers?

Don't want to learn later on I have to buy the v2 anyway
Older DVTrequires an old IXXAT cable (1.5 or 1.6). If you have an older adapter, you can talk to new or old Sevcon inverters.

Re: Is there DVT software available used or free ?

Also, no preference between the DB9 vs RJ45 versions? I find the DB9 easier, but you can easily get an RJ45 to DB9 connector on amazon and make your own adapter: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Serial-adapter-DB-9-RJ-45/dp/B00006IRQA/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=db9+to+rj45&qid=1591116485&sr=8-3

Re: Is there DVT software available used or free ?

there's a free version that doesn't require a key, but you need an IXXAT Can Compact V1.5 or 1.6. The V2 won't work. There's 2 on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/IXXAT-USB-to-CAN-compact-RJ45-USB-interface-for-CAN/133154294829?hash=item1f009d4c2d:g:HrcAAOSw11BdZctG and https://www.ebay.com/itm/IXXAT-...

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

Each motor is different. You'll need to provide the make/model of the induction motor before we're able to tell you if one exists.

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

It should be, yes. If it isn't, then you're not correctly aligned.

Try to run at a constant RPM as much as possible, 500-1000RPM maybe. I always used a drill to spin the motor.

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

It's only straight up if it's aligned. What you need to do is pick the average line that best represents all of those dots. So something up and to the right a few degrees.

Re: how to program a sevcon gen4

Try aligning the encoder. 9 times out of 10 that is the issue for running rough.

I emailed you the document you'll need.

Re: Electric Kart build

We designed the wiring loom, so yes, it plugged in and worked immediately. The Sevcon had to be programmed for the motor, yes. The wiring loom includes a programming port.

Maybe I'm not understanding the question. Can you clarify?

Nice one bud! Did you get regenerative braking sorted for them or did they decide to just have the mechanical brake?
They have some off throttle regenerative braking (aka neutral braking). They don't want to integrate an additional brake input at this time.

Re: Electric Kart build

IM surprised there is no sign of front brakes ? A 15kWh pack is pretty bulky..like having a passenger , And i dont think any kart should have traction control ! Yeah, I noticed that. The article says 15kW, not kWh, and it's roughly 4.5kWh. Gotta love journalists. I think they'll eventually want fro...

Sorry for lack of updates. This took a few turns. Many of you know that I had a business selling motors and controllers. I was put into contact with Topkart to supply them some components. Eventually, I worked with EVDrive (in Oregon) and Topkart to develop a kit that should be available later this ...

Re: jonescg's NEW electric racebike BUILD thread!

Nice looking DC-DC. A little hard to get programmed (DVT doesn't fully have support yet).

I did get ours updated to a different CAN Node and Baud rate. Using some of these in a project at work (Rinehart/AMRacing).

Awesome Bernel. What microcontroller? Check it: htt...
