Re: Idea: Stretch E-rickshaws for isolation

Since when did a RICKSHAW suddenly become a Pedicab ? ..Rickshaw, also spelled ricksha, also called jinrikisha or jinrickshaw, (from Japanese: “human-powered vehicle”), two-wheeled vehicle with a doorless, chairlike body and a collapsible hood, which holds one or two passengers and is drawn by a ma...

Re: Idea: Stretch E-rickshaws for isolation

Personally, I would keep it in the USA bicycle category for speed. Too much regulation otherwise. Nobody cares if you're using more than allowed power to get up hills, speed is the main focus of the authorities. Going forward since CV, isolation will have a much higher value. Public transport is doo...

Re: Crowd funding DIY Prototype Insurance Sovereign Being

Vehicle insurance will be as dead as ICE's when they dissappear from roads, with half gone within 5 years. The more pertanent question will be how 2-wheelers in general will coexist with autonomous vehicles. Will society chose to fund roads for anything but autonomous vehicles?

…You make a balsa frame (grows naturally down here, a junk wood often used to make pallets). … You can stiffen up balsa with the thin cyanoacrylate (superglue) that model airplane makers use. Makes balsa strong and hard, but also more brittle. I made a 2" X 2" footlong 'bridge' using 1/16" balsa st...

Re: Ebikes are they AC, DC or?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternating_current
Alternating current (AC) is an electric current which periodically reverses direction, in contrast to direct current (DC) which flows only in one direction.
Ebikes have DC motors that are electronically commutated through 3 successive phases.

Re: Why are two speed transmissions not more prevalent?

One reason is that you can size your motor/controller/battery to the peak load and then run them at partial load without a significant efficiency hit.

Controllers and batteries are advanced enough now that transmissions aren't part of the path forward.

Re: Car flooded Lead acid Batteries - Question for Lead Acid expert (in search of lost wisdom)

Starting your car just to maintain your battery seems unwise, expecially if the car doesn't get fully warmed up. Modern cars' computers draw enough current to justify a maintainer charger if you aren't using the car daily. If you can't plug in, attach a 'booster' battery that you can easily bring in...

May I interject with a PSA about sleep? In 2012 the 'Glymphatic system' was discovered. Its the system in your brain/spine that removes waste in a way analagous to the rest of our bodies' Lymphatic system. It functions during the middle of each 90 minute sleep cycle. If sleep is disrupted sufficient...

[EDIT] I thought this was supposed to be the 'mustang' SUV. There's pics of the concept 'lithium mustang' with the 4 speed gearbox that can handle 1000 ft.lb.input. I'd love to know how much that gearbox/differential axle costs.

Congratulations on choosing a frame that for the most part doesn't use the engine as a structural member, but instead uses a stout backbone. The engine/transmission did stiffen up the frame between its mounting points, however, and you must question whether that function is important, and if so, whe...

Re: Does this exist? Regen braking for ebike & trailer.

I have a folding bike with a 200W geared motor that has no mechanical motor freewheeling. The controller is set for permanent regen. When I close the throttle at speed it starts dragging and the same happens when I exceed top 'e-speed' at full throttle. Its quite an effective speed limiter and much ...

This is the battery. It is written on it "itinitial current: less than 3A" Will it not damage it with 5A? Maybe after a year, after depreciation, the batteries will need charging and sulfation.
