Re: What Electric Automobile do you drive? Picture thread!

52 Ford F-1. At various points it's had a direct-drive warp 11, 11/AC-51 AC/DC combo, and now it's just the AC-51 with a 5-speed. Working on modular battery setup it will share with all other vehicles and solar house. 11856367_10155945690805182_7504912327903463623_o.jpg Tesla 85. Great, but too expe...

Re: Hybrid Motorcycle - Replace Stator with Brushless?

I second just re-using the stator. It's already mounted, it fits the space, and it's not a whole lot different than a brushless motor. They make permanent magnet upgrades for them. You'll want to do that. Then you'll need to rewind it for your chosen voltage. Next comes a 3-phase speed controller. Y...

Re: Universal Battery Module for Solar, Lawn, Recreational E

[quote="Hillhater"]Have you seen the post in the sale section for genuine Tesla ModS pack modules ? Interesting! That would save me the trouble of finding cells as good as Tesla's, as least for the first prototype. I'm not sure about the bare metal cans or lack of per cell PTC protection, I was hopi...

Universal Battery Module for Solar, Lawn, Recreational EVs

Every tool/vehicle I own has been converted over to electric operation. I don't need to explain to you guys why, the smooth silent power of an electric motor speaks for itself. I have a zero turn mower with twin motors (one cut, one drive), a vintage wheelhorse garden tractor, a small narrow-deck ri...

Re: 2000W MAC lawnmower motor

I'd still like to pick up several of these for electric mower applications. I could use 4+, 3 for upgrading the deck on my electric john deere and at least 1 for my autonomous solar mower bot.

Re: 17v solar panel to 24v ebike

You're going to want something like one of these: http://genasun.com/gvb.shtml Although a lipo/rc charger would be another option, I've run those straight off solar panels before, but if you want decent efficiency you'll need to set the minimum input voltage on the charger to be the same as the peak...

Re: How to solar-charge a 16S6P lithium battery?

You could use a boost DC-DC converter to charge straight off the panel:

I use the 48v pba version to charge a 14s lipo pack off a 230w panel in my garden

Re: 2000W MAC lawnmower motor

I'd be interested in picking up a few of these for electric mower projects. I've been contemplating replacing the belt drive on my electric john deer with individual blade motors, these look perfect. 7/8" universal hubs for the blades are easy to find. And I've got a push mower with a dead engine th...

Bitcoin is an idea whose time has come. It's just fiat money minus paper, with a cryptographic guarantee that they wont be "printed" like crazy or counterfeit by malicious entities. The bitcoin network is already easially the most powerful distributed computer in existence at ~12,000 gigahash per se...

I’d rather not pinpoint my location at this time, but it’s a small town in upstate NY. I only ride 4 -5 miles daily, to and from work. But there are 3 diff. police dept. that cover that small area. I’m thinking about stripping it down and peddling right past them, I’m su...

I use speed to keep me safe. 19 out of 20 bicycle fatalities are impacts from behind (IIRC). I keep up with traffic and don't ever give them that chance. I have removed getting passed constantly by motorists who don't respect my right to use the road from my cycling experience.

I forget you guys aren't all riding trikes, when I think high powered hub motor my mind just assumes it's behind a pair of wheels capable of holding a drift. And when it comes to snow/ice stability, forgetaboutit You want a KMX. Cobra is nice, but many of the upgrades aren't needed for electric. You...

You're confused....were not running high powered chargers off of meanwells, we are using the meanwells as high powered chargers :)

I'm using 2x 48v models in series to charge 24s lipo CC/CV style. They are tuned to around 49.5v each for 99v total. Cost about $35 each, IIRC

You want about 1kwh, so 6 of the 8s 5800mah packs in my case. Around 20miles wot, 30 plus with pedaling. Lots of people here run like 2kwh too, can always add more later.

Sounds more like bad news for the US solar industry, good news for solar purchasers. Basically the "problem" is that chinese cell prices have dropped so much that US based plants cant make enough money to satisfy their investors. I'll take affordable cells over rich US investors

Based on 150lbs for the vehicle, 250lbs for the rider, you'd need about 400lbs of lift to get off the ground. So 100lbs/thrust per rotor, plus some headroom for takeoff and maneuvering. A WAG based on hasty extrapolation of a "120watts to produce 16 ounces of lift" pulled from a RC plane discussion ...

That thing is just begging for a pair of eteks. Chain drive to each track, they would probably remove more weight than they add. Plus double the peak output of the engine.

Re: Solar only ebike?

An the negativity continues. The sun shines at 1000 watts per meter (good enough for an average). A panel made of 15-17% efficient cells would theoretically put out 150+ watts, so 100 watts output for hours either side of midday isn't unreasonable. The original poster is talking about maybe doing t...
