Re: Pricing - 45mph cruise, 60mph top, 50 mile range (cruise speed)

I mean come on he obviously doesn't have good judgement there since a fat bike was selected instead of downhill and brakes and suspension are not even mentioned let alone specified. Dude, I was just joking. Many of the bikes here are already doing these speeds and more; I am just asking for a longe...

Re: Pricing - 45mph cruise, 60mph top, 50 mile range (cruise speed)

50 miles at 45 mph is motorcycle or scooter territory not bicycle. For the money spent on the ebike you can have a much better vehicle for that purpose. wait, isnt this the purpose of this forum? to poosh the limits of ebikes to the MAX! that being said, maybe this build is coming closer. my wheel ...

Re: Pricing - 45mph cruise, 60mph top, 50 mile range (cruise speed)

I ran several motors through the Grin simulator including a theoretical custom motor with very high efficiency, and all would require more battery to go 50 miles at 45 mph. How did you arrive at the capacity you listed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I watched ERT LR Big Block motor efficiency;...

Re: Pricing - 45mph cruise, 60mph top, 50 mile range (cruise speed)

I would avoid LTO at all costs -- not enough energy density for a small EV like you are proposing. Li-ion is what you need. 60Ah for the specs you cite. Go from there. M yeah, I know its much lower specific energy density but that cycle life and high discharge/charge is enticing to make a bike from...

Pricing - 45mph cruise, 60mph top, 50 mile range (cruise speed)

So, realistic pricing scenario here guys, I want a 45mph cruise, 60 mph top, and 50 mile range at 45mph ebike. This is basically the equivalent of a 125cc motorcycle (Z125, Grom) but of course pure electric. If you had to do it what would be the build and cost. I would do it with LTO batteries and m...

Re: Parallelling 2 Li-ion batteries with different internal resistance

You could also just buy the 36V 4.4aH (~150wH) scooter battery packs and make a new battery bank. Each pack has its own BMS and this design is modular. Build yourself a new bigger battery box capable of expansion and there you go. I use this in 72V mode and had one go bad on me. I simply replaced th...

Re: BTW, I parallel two identical chargers for a fast charge while attended

TY. I trust DIY ebikers rather than internet crowd even if some are technical. But seriously before I bought the 5A charger from China I wanted to do this with the 2.5A charger because it scales and is modular and its from USA sellers meaning I can get that charger in less than a week versus waiting...

BTW, I parallel two identical chargers for a fast charge while attended

So, I had a 2.5A and a 5A charger for the ebike hybrid. Unfortunately, or stupidly, I placed the 5A charger near the pedal chain ring and a number of times it fell and well got constantly knocked around not to mention rock hits and weathering. Well, it broke one of the capacitors broke off. These 5A...

Re: Solar recharger

You should get a 100-150W flexible solar panel and mount that to the top of the trike. That solar panel will provide power and also a sun and rain shield. Man, that got me thinking of doing that again but with the trike. But, I feel hesitant with a trike due to visibility on the road and hence safet...

Good luck on the build. It is good to document your build for yourself and you never know if someone else will be inspired or need the knowledge to build something similar or use a certain technique that you did. So document and photo it.

Re: Solar recharger

Do you still need help with this? I did a 90W solar charger ebike with a 500W motor and like 36V 16aH Li-ion batteries. I researched this a lot and a specific MPPT controller ("true MPPT") worked out real well. I have no need of mine anymore since I retired the solar bike. This controller is mppt an...

THX for replies. Yeah, that is the other thing is the wheel and drive train. Its is already dodgy now at 40 mph max speed but at 55-60. LUL :flame: :warn: :flame: :warn: :flame: Might just got with a 5kW+ pro threaded and trued hub/wheel that way I will at least be confident in the wheel. But, this ...

Re: Cyclone 3kW ===> 5kW????

Okay, thanks. I mean its a $170+40=$210-230 upgrade without shipping less the battery of course to get to 60-65kmh cruise. I mean the other way is like $700-1000 for a new hub motor capable of producing those speeds. I am a bit concerned though because I went on a high speed run and the motor was pr...

Re: Cyclone 3kW ===> 5kW????

Just out of curiosity, why are you looking at 6kw motors that can peak 12kw+ when your battery is limited to 1700w? Have you calculated how big, heavy and expensive pack you will need to take advantage of that thing? Yeah, I am going to buy a new battery capable of supporting this peak and continuo...

Re: Cyclone 3kW ===> 5kW????

I think this is their website. I wonder if the mount that we have for the Cyclone 3kW can be used with the variety of BLDC motors that they have for sale. I am looking specifically at the 6kW one that has 3500rpm (vs 800rpm that we have) but with 30Nm torque (vs 50Nm that we have). The higher RPM wo...

Cyclone 3kW ===> 5kW????

Hi. I like my bike; its a Cyclone 3kW with an embedded 400W gas generator (800W capable). It does 40 mph on lowest gear on flat surface and aggressive tuck. But, it has limitations due to the batteries ~1700W max continuous. I was thinking about a 6kW LR Big Block motor but that will require an enti...

Made a funny music video parody of my ebike hybrid. So, these batteries limit me to like 1500-1800W; if I had the full 3kW do you think I coulda beat that 125cc Honda Grom?

Re: 1st Build. Black Enduro 72v 3kw 50-65mph (fast)

I just have to ask, where did you get a 72V 25Ah battery for 500$? It is possible to get from china, but at continous highway speeds they will last about the same time as his controller, same for the motor. Unless you consider highway speed to be 40mph. Not bashing another builder's bike but keepin...

You can also buy the 36V 4.4aH (~150wH) scooter battery packs that some of us here use and build up a big battery bank with time and distributed monetary investment. The price is 25-45$ per pack and the cells perform well for 36V systems like yours. They come with XT60 connectors. I use mine in seri...

Yeah I totally recommend!, as I said my system is a 84v 30Ah so more than 2 KWh and I get about 40% to 80% in 30mins with 15A charge speed. I could have got 30% to around 90% in 15 or 20 mins with 20A that is the manufacturer states is the max charge speed but I'm ok with my 15A. What project do yo...

any update on this? I am also as a thought experiment looking into this battery tech; i know the specific energy density is worse than lithium ion but the advantages seem interesting. Think big 1.5kWh+ battery being 80-85% charge in 30 minutes.
