Re: What does overvolting mean?
Aha. So if I run it at the same amps but higher voltage it will not get significantly hotter than before? But If I also raise the amps I could be in trouble? Does it have to be less amps to work? Or could it be the same amps as before only higher voltage? There are two ratings that you have to cons...

Re: PAS slow to respond
I have a cheap ish 250W 36V front hub from CSC. It takes 4 complete turns of the pedals before the motor starts. The motor also seems slow to accelerate. It has a sw900 display. It’s slow compared to my GSM mid drive and my son’s ‘switch kit’. The PAS sensor distance makes no difference, neither do...

Re: How to know how much battery volts the ebike controller can take?
How do I know how high I can go on a battery without frying the controller to death? Inside controller.png Most 48V KT controllers will work at 52V. Often the MOSFETs and capacitors are limiting factors. The cap in your pic is rated at 63V, so you wouldn't want to exceed that, and fully charged 52V...

Re: IR Camera enough. Or thermal camera necessary?
Hi I wonder if a simple IR Camera is enough to measure the heat of one's motor? Or is the more expensive thermal camera necessary? Would the IR Camera do a good enough job of measuring the motor temperature? Or is it necessary to buy the more expensive thermal camera? Based on measuring the temps o...

Re: KT controller puzzle
I am redoing my bike with a new hub motor and controller (35A), KTLCD8H... Went through and tried to match all the settings in the controller to a RAD which is the closest. But then tried everything I could find in the documentation that might turn the throttle on or off. After quite a bit of fiddl...

Re: Gazelle Chamonix conversion
Most of this you probably already know. 14s is usually called a 52 volt nominal pack, and 13s is 48 volt nominal. I prefer 14s because when used with a 48 volt controller, the low voltage cutoff in the controller is set to 40-42 volts in case you're using lead acid batteries. 42 volts / 14s = 3 vol...

Re: Bikes compatible with Bafang BBS02 motor
Responding to various comments above... Just what is wrong wit a Norco. I thought they were considered a good brand. Note I am looking at buying a Norco Vermont 21 spd second hand. Here is a post on installing a BBS02 on a Norco Hybrid. https://electricbike.com/forum/forum/builds/ebike-building-dir...

Two in a voltage divider arrangement seems like it would work. You want a divider that divides the voltage by 13S/20S.

Re: Pedal assist won't re-engage
The 4 second thing is interesting. I wonder if a failing capacitor in the PAS circuit could cause symptoms like that.

Re: Gazelle Chamonix conversion
For the Daly BMS, what the difference between a Li-ion 14S 48V and the Li-ion 13S 48V BMS?
I see there's both flavors, and both are for Li-ion.

Re: Bikes compatible with Bafang BBS02 motor
Still looking for a bike to mount my BBS02 on. What about a Norco Vermont 21 speed. Here are the specs https://99spokes.com/en-CA/bikes/norco/2009/vermont I think it has to be this vintage because later versions appear to be 24 speed. if you already own a donor bike that works, why would you spend ...

What's going on in these two spots? It looks a little chewed up. Did that happen during disassembly?

It looks like you have enough clearance to increase the rotor by a couple of sizes.

Re: My econo-e-bike
You wanted to go with a square layout instead of hexagonal? I've done both for our two upright bikes, and the square one did shed heat better, with the gap for air between the cells and the bag zipper open somewhat. If you can pack another parallel row with the hexagonal design, then you'd be drawi...

Re: Are these capable of 40A charging rate??
There is a 20A charger that Im looking at but wanna make sure the lipos can handle 20A safely and easily Does it run on 220VAC ? I was having to reset the breaker in panel when charging at higher currents using a 110VAC supply, but the circuit was barely enough for the 1500W supply, so no issues in...

Re: My econo-e-bike
The 21700 cell holders arrived. Turns out, the 3 cell and 2 cell holders don't mate together, even though they look like they do; bummer. I had enough 2 cell holders to more or less model how many I can fit in my triangle. Looks like 20S5P will fit, but I may go with 18S5P instead, so I can add 8Ah ...

Re: State of the hackable motor
For example: right now I'm considering repurposing an old Novara hardtail I have to serve as a gravel/light-trail build. Luna's upgraded BBS02 looks nice, but so does the open-firmware TSDZ2 from eco-ebike.com. Does anyone have (or have used) both and can provide constructive comparisons? Obviously...
