Re: U004 Battery: changing BMS

The pack is 4P, and the cells are rated at 10A, so the BMS shouldn't be sized greater than 40A. 50A will kill the pack. How does a BMS control current? Do BMS in general sense current and shut the MOSFETS off if current approaches what the MOSFETS are rated for? I'm not sure the limit is determined...

Re: U004 Battery: changing BMS

I've bought this battery: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002710812223.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.21e84c4dy5eKFw it's a 72v 20s4p battery that currently has a 50A BMS installed. I want to get a 3000W hub motor, and the controllers on most kits are rated 50A as well. From what I understand I nee...

Re: No power supply from controller to throttle?

whats the red electric lock for? Thats not connected to anything You need battery positive to go to the "electric lock" in order to turn on the controller. Usually you'd hook up some sort of ignition switch to turn it on and off. If the controller isn't on, you won't get voltage to things...

Re: Heat Factor of an Ebike Controller

Folks, beginning to arrange components of my ebike. Noticed my controller has an exterior that's grooved heat sink designed. Question, from your experience how warm/hot could that controller become? My battery is a 52V connected to a 1500W rear hub motor. Reason for asking this question. My prefere...

Re: KT Controller / LCD8H Headlight Control Question

THEN, the output of that controller switched headlight wire is tiny, and worse, it's not fused in anyway. Point being that circuit is very easily smoked due to shorts and overload. Thankfully, it doesn't take out the entire controller when the light circuit is smoked. What's the point of running th...

I'm really hoping to find a solution that gets the pedal assist working. I don't give two hoots about pedal assist, but many people want it working. I'd like to solve this puzzle
Just based on observation, hoping doesn't usually produce many solutions with ebikes. Even praying rarely works.

Re: Power consumption sweet spot

The sweet spot is as slow as you can stand to ride and still feel like you're on an e-bike. That's around 18mph for me, but if you can ride slower than that, you can get more range, especially if you have all the time in the world to get there.

Sounds to me like you do have a technical solution in mind? I'd be interested to hear it. Although I don't have the soldering skills or gear(although gear is easy to get), I'd be interested to know what you'd suggest if I in fact had the skills and gear. Nope, same advice. The amount really is flex...

Re: Surron throttle not usable for slow speed

How about adding a thumb throttle just for slow riding, and set/limit the range from 1V-2V. Use the original throttle for normal riding, and the thumb throttle for those lower speed situations. If the thumb throttle is set for a narrower voltage range, but over the full physical range, it should be ...

No time like the present, since any suggestion will be met with the same unknown budget constraint. Here are questions for y...

The goal is to sell the bike eventually. So I prefer not to invest in stuff that is unlikely to be a selling point.
I missed the post where you mentioned your budget. Was it your intention to be misleading in your initial post. It sounded like you had an upgrade path planned for the bike.

Programmable Controller is an interesting option, but they seem be at least double or triple the price point. I could probably get another motor for the front with the same money invested.

Re: How to design a turbo boost

I' have a 10speed DNP Epoch Freewheel with the 11t sprocket on it. I like the freewheel but it's a fair bit wider than my 7speed, leaving less room on my DD hub axle for for torque arms and axle Nuts. I don't like having to skimp on torque arms or not having enough thread for the whole axle nut. Wh...

"Turbo"
might be most easily applied via standing start, transitioning to crouching on lowered seat as 20mph threshold is passed.
I believe this transition is what they refer to in the industry as "turbo lag"

Re: How to design a turbo boost

Somewhere past 20mph, wind resistance in proper pedaling stance is more of a detriment than sustainable pedal assist can compensate for. Near 30mph it requires 250w pedal assist to match benefit of tuck position on a mtb. Same pedal effort as sustaining 18mph. 30mph pa.jpg Add 250w "Human powe...
