Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

moving the cranks forward to the back It is a geared motor with a high transmission rate, and geared transmissions do not come without any play. The gears need some play and on the pedal side it appears 42times bigger than on the sprocket side. I'd be curious about your input on lateral play of the...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I'm interested in marcoq's firmware for VLCD6. I've installed both JRE and SDCC compiler, but am unable to flash the firmware within the configurator (I am in an OSX environment). I can install his firmware with stm8flash, however the stock eeprom settings are for the 36v, and I have a 48v 500watt m...

Re: stm8 code for flashing tsdz2 firmware

The display is larger than I want on my bike for the open source solution.

stm8 code for flashing tsdz2 firmware

eco-ebike.com now offers some customized firmware for the TSDZ2 that I'd like to try: https://www.eco-ebike.com/blogs/eco-cycles-instructionals/tsdz2programmingfromscratch They offer instructions on how to flash with the st-link software, but I don't have a windows machine. My plan was to try flashi...

Play in TSDZ2 Spider

I've noticed a few mm of play in the spider of my Tongsheng motor: https://youtu.be/I7ueCrxFKOU I've removed the five bolts, applied blue loctite, and reassembled with torque at 5nm, but the play persists. Is this normal? I noticed a large bearing inboard of the spider that protrudes from the motor ...

Possible to power di2 with avg ebike battery?

I'm thinking about getting a shimano di2 alfine hub for my commuter, which is set up with a TSDZ2 motor and 48v bottle battery. Has anyone tried to power di2 systems with an ebike battery and can point me to some resources on how to set it up?

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

If you'd like the VLCD6 to display mph, simply take the circumference values listed in the manual and multiply them by 0.62. If you want to set the speed limit to 45km/h hold down the power and + button for 10 seconds.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The biggest difference was power. When I switched from a VLCD-5 to a VLCD-6 on one of my bikes ( 48V, 750watt ) power was limited to 300w and speed was limited to 25kph. Changing the data memory ( as outlined by Eyebyesicle ) had no effect. Changing to the 52v ( "stock" ) firmware ( as supplied by ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I've also noticed that the different displays ( VLCD-6, VLCD-5 and XH-18 ) can have a significant impact on the operating characteristics of the motor, though I can't say that, in my limited experience, the display type has had any noticeable impact on the noise profile. Would you be willing to ela...

Re: TSDZ2 vs Bafang BBSO2

Could you elaborate by what "control" improvements we might observe by flashing with the open source firmware? Is there a risk of bricking the motor?

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I am setting up my TSDZ2 with a VLCD6, I was going for something inconspicuous and bare bones. I've had success specifying circumference and speed limit, but there is one last setting that confuses me: "Press the +assist, power, and -assist to enter the power select mode..." First, what is the purpo...

Mid drive systems and bb thread integrity

Would anyone have any insight as to how a properly installed mid drive, either Bafang or Tongsheng, impacts the threads in the bottom bracket shell over time? If you wanted to convert back to a non-ebike setup, would there be any thread damage? Are there products you could apply to the threads that ...

Any hope of TSDZ2 on pf92?

I thought I might be clever and try out a Bafang press-fit adapter (https://www.empoweredcycles.com/collections/8fun-bafang-bbs02-accessories/products/shimano-pf41-bb92-89-5-92mm-to-bsa-adaptor-for-bbshd) to fit a TSDZ2 to a pf92 bike. After looking at the axle width of the Tongsheng (end of the man...

Re: Gruesome details of battery connection to TSDZ2

After reading this article: https://www.electricbike.com/matching-c ... ontroller/

I've decided to preemptively buy a set of the XT60 connectors with pigtails so as to take a crimp approach, just in case battery and motor connectors don't match up.

Gruesome details of battery connection to TSDZ2

I've got a 500watt 48v TSDZ2 motor on the way, along with a bottle style Panasonic 48v battery: http://auto-ebike.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13&products_id=1736 I've been working on bikes a while now, and mounting the motor seems pretty straightforward, but my background in electroni...
