Re: are there cable protectors on the market?

Internal cable routing is about the only thing that will prevent an attack but the cable has to come out somewhere on most E-bikes.

If you do manage to protect the cables, there is still plenty to attack on a bike so you would probably get less repairable damage.

Park it somewhere safer.

Re: Build your own charger

The idea of series connecting several switching power supplies seems pretty sketchy. One thing I have been looking in to for a lower wattage charger is a 24v unregulated or switching power supply with a boost mode MPPT solar charge controller. Some of the Chinese solar charge controllers are very ch...

Re: The economics of scooter rentals.

I wouldn't discount the trip hazard. I often see piles of these things laying on the ground in crosswalks, sidewalks and other pedestrian areas. Not lined up in a row on kick stands, literally strewn about and blocking the path. I watch my step and haven't tripped over them but the way rider's treat...

First figure out what you've got. If it's Shimano or another name brand, you can probably find instruction sheets.

With YouTube these days, you might be able to find video of someone doing exactly what you want to do.

Re: I bought an E Bike for my wife but she says its to slow

This sounds like it is resolved but if you can change a setting to make it think the hub motor is in a smaller rim, it should give you more rpm before limiting speed.

Re: How Many Amps 2 Pole Speakon Socket handle?

You can find data sheets for these. Speakon was designed as a connector for people who were abusing the shit out of XLRs in pro sound applications where cables and connectors go through hell and are expected to perform trouble free. They are good stuff. I have read the specs a while ago and seem to ...

Re: I designed a simple 3D-printed solderless battery pack.

A spot welder really isn't terribly expensive. It's cheaper than a 3D printer... But I would suggest trying to align the print layers parallel to the long axis of the cell so you don't have weak seams in the middle of your tube. I think spot welds, good spacers and a bit of glue is pretty decent but...

Re: Fiat Chrysler pays millions...

I invite you to research the population of LA from the late 90s to today. I doubt it has increased very much and unlike some areas with geographic features that contain their size, LA is huge and has accommodated lots of urban sprawl. My hunch is that LA reached saturation some time ago and miles dr...

Re: Fiat Chrysler pays millions...

If emissions laws were stable from about 1996 untill today, smog would be roughly the same. If they keep tightening the standards but smog doesn't improve, why keep tightening them? I'm not saying smog hasn't improved since 1996, just that the improvement was caused by older cars being retired from ...

Re: Telescope design; eliminating mirror-support diffraction

Forget magnets. The obstruction of the secondary mirror creates diffraction all by itself, no spider required. Yes, but the diffraction is evenly distributed and manifests itself mainly as lower image contrast. Look at the Chief design, it's an off axis telescope that is probably the easiest to imp...

Re: Fiat Chrysler pays millions...

Los Angeles smog lags behind the emissions laws by about 10 years which is when enough of the older cars have been retired to see the difference. Mid 90s emissions laws would be just fine in LA because most of the smog comes from lawn mowers and leaf blowers today. Trying to reduce new car emissions...

Re: Fiat Chrysler pays millions...

I think you mean Volkswagen syndrome. But that's really emissions standards so tight that the best clean deisel engines can't pass which is pretty damn stupid when you look at which vehicles a newly sold clean deisel would push out of the fleet. Most emissions laws are stupid because there are lots ...

After replacing a hall I was having similar problems to the OP with the phase runner. https://i.imgur.com/wwm9bXz.png The left half of the screen is when the motor is being driven and the pwm waveform is being picked up by the hall wires and superimposed while the halls are pulled high. . Docware has sent me a BF-2A battery holder which i'm modifying right now. It's construction is good but power contacts are made of unknown metal, certainly not copper or nickel. It is meant to be used at up to 10A, but i'm modifying it for using at up to 20A. The job is not done yet because some ...

I'm building a frame so one way or another it will fit.

I think I should probably buy tires and see if I can make it work, then buy rims if I can't.

If not, what is a good 36 hole rim for those tires?

Yes and another thing, the more times that drivers see a bicyclist keeping up with traffic, the less they will assume they have left a bicyclist behind when they are in reality only back at their rear wheel.

Re: 18650 Configuration - 24S20P or 20S24P?

Well, 300 amps and 96 volts is roughly 20 hp, that's motorcycle territory so I doubt you will have trouble with torque off the line unless your gearing is way too steep. If I was doing this, I would pick a top speed, figure out what gearing it would take with 24s and then see if it has enough torque...

Re: Lines erased E-Bike / E-Scooter / E Motorcycle

I agree that speed limits are good but too often they are set lower than they should be for "traffic calming" or outright revenue generation. There is no legitimate reason to tell me I can't keep up with traffic when it would be unsafe to go slower. If you want to prohibit E-bikes from roads with sp...
